Into the Storm (2014) - Chasing Tornados might not be such a good idea

- I really enjoy good disaster movie. There are not that many in the first place and even less focusing on tornados.
Which is kinda funny since my first disaster movie was probably Twister (1996) that introduced me into the genre, and I had to wait long 18 Years until I saw something of similar quality featuring tornados. Mind you, I also stumbled upon it just by a pure chance, since as opposed to Twister (1996), Into the Storm (2014) was never meant to be or had aspiration to be AAA blockbuster.
In disaster movies, visuals are more than half the battle if you want to have a good movie - what the audience wants to see and hoping for when coming to see it.
Both movies, Twister and Into the Storm look about the same in terms of CGIs, which is equally impressive for both movies for different reasons.
In Twister's case the fact they had achieved it 18y earlier, and in Into the Storm case, because they did it with a quarter of the budget (adjusted for inflation).
I know that these days impressive CGIs are way easier to do, thus less costly (comparing it to same quality in 1996), but at 1/4 of the price tag it's obvious that the production team also did wonders with their allocated budget and I consider those two movies to be the best in their own class (movies about storms/tornados).
In the beginning I though that Into the Storm (2014) will be cheap straight to TV movie that also looked like it wanted to ride the Blair Witch Project's POV wave, featuring many point of view shots, but thankfully not the whole movie. It has a good balance between classical cinematic shots and POV's to be honest.
Soon I realized that I was wrong because the visual were actually great (not what I expected) and to demonstrate what I mean, I have picked up for you to see what is also my favourite scene in the movie - the very start of the storm forming. There is more of that thorough the whole movie, but granted, nothing beats the fire tornado that I must admit was pretty smart, visually attractive idea that is also very terrifying.
I say job well done! Can recommend.

they were lucky enough to survive and they survived due to dumb luck.
They are stupid and should have enough sense to run like hell away from the tornado 🌪 when it’s coming their direction but they were so busy acting like kids at an amusement park with the twister sighting that it cost them their lives and ended up with them dying.

He would die within seconds of being sucked into the tornado. Debris spinning at 100 mph will kill you in any size or location.

As a person who lives in Tennessee and deals with tornado watches and warnings all the time I love this movie and I’m so! Excited for the new one!
Nothing will ever come close to the realism captured by Twister.
Was it really realistic though? I'm just amateur enthusiast who has no concept of what t5 should look like, or what are the chances of it to form.
@@pibmovieclipswell they’re pretty rare seeing as there’s only been around 67ish F5/EF5’s ever recorded it takes wind speeds of 200mph+ and the tornado itself pretty much rips a house clean off it’s foundation and can take the foundation with it sometimes too like they said in the movie twister a F5/EF5 is gods finger a truly destructive and unpredictable beast

This summer, I saw the first tornado of my life. We were holidaying on the Dutch island of Schiermonnikoog, and one day from the beach, we saw a tornado form over the water. It moved parallel to the coastline and vanished again some 20 minutes later. Eerie!

Advertised as a drama but it should’ve been a comedy. They move in such a funny way that I thought it was a dance competition between a vacuum cleaner and rodents.

They can do that too, sneak up on you.. you might think something like that would be too obvious to miss but when its all chaos around you in a storm like that and especially storms with minimal visibility they can indeed do just that.

My dad lived in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1998. He lived on the 3rd floor of a 6 floor apartment. There was another 6 floor apartment right next to his. An EF2 tornado struck the apartment right next to his. A part of his apartment was also damaged. He said it was extremely scary.
Around 1:31 to 1:34, you can see the cameraman's hand with blood on the grass.
I saw that! And I do believe that is what you get when you’re caught by something like that; blood, glitched camera, and warped screams!

And massive downgrade in IQ points too. However, there was a take done at the end of the film where those two assholes live. They fell into a couple tree branches and hung upside down along with their camera still rolling. Funniest most highly unrealistic.

@@pibmovieclips There's not much opinion to it, tornadoes don't suck things up vertically that's some Hollywood nonsense, it's why hiding in a ditch as a last resort can save your life, they tend to whip things around and spit them out caught in circulation and blow fierce winds that at higher EF would send you tumbling or flying for miles till you splatted or impaled on something.

I’ve had many close calls with tornadoes and saw an EF0 in my neighborhood, I live in Missouri so it can get crazy, hopefully I’ll never encounter an EF4 and/or an EF5.

The tornado going through those houses reminds me of the jarrel texas ef 5. A thin rope yet destroyed everything
This movie had it's faults no doubt about that, but the Twista Hunterz... they MADE the film. Every scene with them I find enjoyable, especially the reveal that they survived in the end.

Isn’t everyone afraid of being sucked up a spinning vortex into the air? Actually, there’s an even bigger chance of you not even being picked up by the tornado, but getting hit and killed by flying debris. Glass, 2x4 pieces of wood, nails, parts of houses and even ENTIRE HOUSES can be thrown at you inside a tornado.
I want to be a storm chaser. But they can be big but they aren't that crazy. But still take shelter in case it is strong.

yeah i had some sort of weird nightmare where 6 tornadoes joined together to make like some sort of tornado giraffe? and it was weird it moved just like how it would if it was in the movie. but i think it would have been a ef1
