Verb conjugation in Korean will vary depending on the verb stem, and there are different rules for each type. In addition, many verbs conjugate irregularly (they don’t follow the rules) and need to be learned separately. Fortunately, most verbs considered to be irregular are actually for the most part regular and follow rules. Let’s cover the most common irregular and regular verb types, including ㅂ verbs, ㅎ verbs, ㄹ verbs, ㄷ verbs, ㅅ verbs, 르 verbs, verbs ending with ㅡ, 이다, 하다, and 되다.

규칙 / 불규칙 동사 : 나도 어려워요. Billy explains great/easy & for the most of all, explains well better than any Korean teachers. Subscribe, sit tight & happy studying !!!!
Oh my... this makes me dizzy, even if I'm a native Korean.
Many thanks to Billy.
불규칙 속에서 규칙을 찾아내는 분들, 정말로 존경스럽습니다.
This is a really helpful video! I’ve encountered some rules before but putting them all together is priceless!
Woah- this is well edited!!
Thank you, Billy. You can make sense of some of the most difficult concepts. I love your Learn Korean episodes--as well as all of your uploads..
to say ur videos make this concept easier is an understatement. 감사합니다
this channel is so good, idk why is not more known....
A must know video about korean verbs.... Thank you so much Billy😊
I absolutely have to download this video
This is very helpful!!!👍
Thank you sooooo much Billy! I got stucked on this... starting to have a fear to conjugate verbs bc of possible mistakes (and the thing that I can get used to conjugating them incorrectly). Thanks a lot! A pdf is also a piece of helping art! 😊😊💟
I was having a hard time in irregular verbs. But you made it easy for meeeee thank you gobilly!!!
How is it going?
이 영상을 기다리고 있었어요! 정말 감사합니다.
I’ve never been so confused in my life 😱
I definitely don't recommend watching this video before first learning about regular verb conjugation. Here's an abridged live stream I did: ruclips.net/video/KEthL6xRJG4/видео.html
Thank you!
3:15 하얗다 is not an exception if you think of 야 as a combination of 이 and 아 and 얘 as a combination of 이 and 애
That combination *is* the "exception" but yes, it does actually make sense.
i keep coming back to this vid idk why?
Tysm
Hey Billy, How would we know if it's an irregular for ㄷ irregular? Because sometimes you conjugate to the irregular, sometimes you dont!
You won't know without knowing that word. It's something to just keep an eye out for, and to know many verbs will do that and others won't.
Thank you billy
Billy looked so defeated at the end haha. Poor Billy.
Well, at least I finally got my fortune....
simpler explanation of 르 irregular:
copy ㄹ to previous syllable, conjugate it as a regular 으 irregular
Excited 😜
돕다 becomes 도와요 and
곱다 becomes 고와요 in " 비읍 " how did you get the 와요? where is the formula? You explained
Remove "ㅂ" add 우 add 어요
워요.
There isn't an easy formula for that, but if you'd like to learn more I made this video: ruclips.net/video/wOUpkEvx7Rc/видео.html
재밌게 봤어요!
감사합니다... 당신은 그것을 짧게 만들었습니다
2:14 very confused why 구워요, 누워요, and 주워요 are irregular. All these conjugate from ㅂ into 워요 as the descriptive verb rule states.
It's only because not all ㅂ verbs do that. Many verbs simply attach 어요 too.
@@GoBillyKorean 감사합니다!
Hello sir I hope u will notice my comments . Firts of all I just wanna say thank you and God bless..
This irregular conjugation
is applicable in all tense??
Only when you're conjugating it. Each tense is conjugated differently. So present and past tense would use this, but future tense uses different rules (을/ㄹ). And progressive tense is just ~고 있다.
Thank you 수고했어요^^
This fortune teller reminds me of that creepy guy from the movie "The Boy"!! OMG! 😂😂😂 The mask and curly hair 😂 geez
Can the irregular verbs ending in ㅅ be contracted to e.g. 나요 instead of 나아요?
They shouldn't be when writing.
@@GoBillyKorean Ok thank you
Dear Billy,can you explain colors?
I've notices that there are a lot of names for colors (no difference in shade same color, but different color names...) and I also noticed/think that koreans also use sino korean colors...can you explain them? Please.
Thank you very much! Your the best on YT!
Hi, check out my video about colors: ruclips.net/video/Iz4fvsrnj_I/видео.html
Im so confused, I came here from your hangul lessons, and you said, in the end, we would have to learn Korean irregulars separately?
There are more irregulars than could fit in one video, but they're not as useful to learn on their own without context.
Thankyou so much...Are there any irregulars in the upper levels?? Plus can you cover pronunciation of words e.g 걷는 is pronounced as 거는 and 작년 as 장년
걷는 is actually pronounced as 건는, as if there are two ㄴs. Pronouncing it as 거는 is incorrect. Pronunciation is important as sometimes saying a double consonant as one can change the meaning of the word, like 만나요 and 많아요 (마나요). This page covers all the rules www.koreanwikiproject.com/wiki/Category:Consonant_assimilation
Jeddy Moon I believe Billy covers those sound change rules in his Hangul video series. Near the end of the series he explains sound change rules like the ones you’re asking about!
@@TheTurtleWithATopHat Thanks lots.I will check out
@@binky2819 Thanks lots...
Why i cant download the pdf?? :
They're all on the web site. You just need to find the post for this episode, and there's a link inside of the post that you can click.
So, most of irregular verbs are describing verbs right?
No, it's both action and descriptive verbs.
And 놓다?
It's not irregular.
