  • Fire Departments have needed courageous crew from the start. From horse-drawn wagons, to motorized fire trucks, and mechanized ladders, fire fighters have battled blazes with a mixture of skill and courage.
This 1940s movie walks through a quick history of fire fighting from the 1900s to the 1920s to the 1940s. Lengthy training combined with improved equipment helped fire departments tackle fires in cities, fires on ships, fires in chemical and grain plants, fires in oil fields, forest fires, and in icy and hazardous conditions. In the end the fire fighters rescue people and save lives.

Fire safety controls were a lot weaker (or nonexistent) in those times.
