I followed these THREE strategies TODAY in my morning match against my # 1 opponent - and they ALL worked : I aimed all of my returns (of serve) back down to the middle of his baseline / I hit cross court whenever I was standing behind the baseline / and I hit to my # 1 opponent’s feet whenever he came to the net ... AND WHAT A CHANGEOVER : I beat the man for the FIRST time in THREE years. THANK YOU, Ryan - you made my day ... I (finally) GOT THIS !
Hello from Scotland 🏴 Love your coaching style- I'm really getting a lot from your tips and lessons, and seeing a big improvement on the court! Keep up the awesome work man! In terms of the best coaching- "you've got this" 🙌
You have helped me so much Ryan!! I’m 15 and I’ve been playing for years and I’ve always been a decent player but your videos have just taken my tactics to the next level. I’m about to go play a match and with your help, I’m sure I can come out on top!
@@2MinuteTennis i really appreciate it. I lost my first match and won the second once I became more determined to stay strong and not get distracted mentally!
I lost today on tie break (so close) but I have another tournament tomorrow and I’ll stick to these 3 basic rules (and no more 3 double faults in the same game like today either either lol) to simplify my strategy and try to win. Thanks again for these videos, you don’t know how much they help me 🙏
@@2MinuteTennis Hey Ryan, here I am keeping you updated haha. I lost 6-2 6-0 and even though the score looks worse then how the match actually went (30-40 or deuce in most game’s), the other guy was a much better player than me, probably 1-2 categories better. Nonetheless, when I was able to execute the strategies mentioned in this video, I was able to compete, rally and win some good points. I also realized knowing the strategy and being able to execute in every single point are two very different things haha. Again, they helped me and I’ll continue working on them, that’s the beauty of this sport, you’re never done 😂. Thanks Ryan, have a marvelous week!
@@2MinuteTennis i come back to inform you that i lost lol. Hitting it to the guys feet was useful but this guy had a slice focused playstyle and was able to counter each attempt. I have very little experience playing people who slice each hit. Could be a great future video my dude.
Question: if you’re behind the baseline to return serve why not hit it cross court into the longest part of the court? What’s different about the first ball returning serve vs during a rally?
It’s a great question. And you can. But the serve tends to be more offensive that ground stokes. So you need more margin for error. Thanks for the question.
This is such a bad advice at ruclips.net/video/77YQxcbyg24/видео.html re return of serve for any level. For the same reason that you are saying one has to keep the ball cross court. I love doubles content but this is just not good advice. 1) You need to move the server and by returing down the middle you are giving up control. 2) Court is shorter down the middle , one will make more errors trying to return down the middle. 3) By returning down the middle you are giving away a chance to take control of the point and asking the server to start dictating point and the server can simply move a few inches and almost at will send the ball to your weekness. Just like that.

It's amazing how well these basic strategies work. I think many people try to over-complicate this great game.
100% in Agreement Carl. As Steve says be brilliant with basics.

My majority of returns have little margin for error. Thanks for the tip!
This will help a lot!! Thanks so much!!!
great stuff
Thanks! Even I'm 2bl, 1 tip use a lot from exp, and 3 one as well.
Happy to help!
Good job

won first singles against best school in my district (i normally play second dubs) 8-6 pro set. close and tiring game but thanks for the tips
So when they come in hit the ball right at them ...with pace ?
Doesn’t have to be fast. Just try to get them to volley from below net level.
