Its amazing the many videos online that don't give this important detail. I think as well as describing the step as straight you could suggest it is parallel to the finnished hook step. Great video.

i landed here because of Ling Xiaoyu :D a fictional Character from a 3d Fighting game and she has Ba Gua Zhang as her fighting style :) that mudstep is named Hypnotist in Tekken. your video was really interesting :) i did calisthenics in the past and had a rly healthy routine now im kinda like my old lazy self and its hard to start training again because it feels like besides muscle memory everything else is gone.

Are you kidding me? There is a female character in a video game named Ling Xiaoyu who does Baguazhang? That video game company is lucky they weren’t sued big time, since there is a real life Baguazhang sifu who lives in Vancouver Canada named Liang Shou-Yu (spelled different but pronounced exactly the same). I have had the pleasure of learning Baguazhang basics as well as a beginner form from him in a week long seminar back in 1998 at Dr. Yang Jwing Ming’s school in Boston. Both of them authored a book together titled “Baguazhang” back in the early 1990’s. I am guessing the video game company saw the book and based their Baguazhang stylist on him.
