It was not so long ago that back in the west we shared a similar cultures. No outward affection, asking fathers permission to date or marriage and chaperoned dates. While free love was all the rage in big US cities. Conservatism was still a big deal everywhere else.
I treked through rough mountain jungle at the age of 63 to ask permission from my wifes father for permission to marry her. So l still hold on to some of those values.
