Just finished second flight on the Ranger with Headtracking on DJI and it's totally other sensation than pure FPV, especially the feel on landing approach and touchdown - priceless.
Love your head tracked fpv content. There is some out there, but not super common. It also gets me super excited for my own head tracked project. Thank you for generating such fun content!
This was beautiful. I never get motion sickness when flying, but sometimes can feel it a little even watching my own stuff later. I think it has to do with not knowing exactly what is going to happen next without the controls in my hands.
Amazing Stuff Andy. The focus is exellent and the plane too of course. Just coming from the field , cold and stormy but made 2 flights with my Tyro 119 Digital Project. Cheers from Germany.
Did you use your servo mod with a resistor on the pan servo if yes what resistance did you use for the resistor? The views are astonishing and amazing!! Can i ask for throw data for the aileron elevator and rudder?
Thanks to your channel and a few others I have started to get into fpv. I bought a nazgul evoque, which is amazing and my latest project is a fms, fw 190, 1400mm, with dji air unit and goggles, matek h743 wing v2, gps, air speed indicator, crossfire nano and a gt sound system. Just waiting for a crossfire nano receiver and I should be good to go. I'll be flying from the sandbar at 1770, QLD Australia. I can't wait. Thanks m8.
What a nice fun winter flight. Seeing such views and the sun from above the Earth is so nice. 😃👍👍 At 3:12 need to use video out, to goggles for telephoto tracking video to avoid sun. It's a bit of catch-22, having both wider field of view for location reference, and tracking zoomed in view. Your camera seems to do decent with focus. Tracking planes, etc is usually a challenge to keep in focus. Maybe Phil would be interesting in assembling a tracker, normally used for long range antenna positioning, but could easily serve as a automatic video ground tracker. (just a thought) BTW: Think there is a way to record goggle video (out) while FPV'ing to a Raspberry Pi, only problem is because of chip-shortages, supplies are limited until ~spring/summer.
I have the DJI air unit with the DJI goggles V2. What range should I expect on the video? Also, what range should I expect with my Spectrum NX 10 for control ?
looks really great being on board and run the headtracking. iNAV in a mission and you can give an observer the opportunity to look aroung like from a ballong or Zeppelin. Great video and idea to show that use case beyond the drone world.
@@AndyRCchannel lol, that’s why I only fly quads in the summer! At least I can watch you fly all winter! Love watching your videos, keep up the great work!
My first and favorite FPV plane. I have crashed mine 2-3 times with minimal damage. I got a good deal on the 1600 and that version is sporty and lads shorter. I switched out all the innards for MG servos and Sunny sky 2216 1250 and 1400kv motors. I still dream of building a removable tricycle gear for making the pattern and hanging a good camera under the "chin" with some protection from a nose gear.
Great stuff as always Andy! Can you please ask Phil for details of the on/off switch he used for the air unit? I’d like to do same on mine. Thanks mate 🙂
they were very popular back in the nitro days just search for RC on off switch like these ones www.ebay.co.uk/b/RC-Switches/182178/bn_89313716 i prefer the xt30 or jst ones myself as they allow more current but the vista only pulls 600mah anyways
Hi, me again. I have the PNP version of this now with Arudplane. Do you know if this supports Reverse Thrust on the motor for landing. Trying to kill off some speed when landing
@@steaders82 I wish we could but its a closed club due to the farmer not wanting too many cars in the field. check out my ultimate plane build on how we do it ruclips.net/video/8Kzid9pTCgo/видео.html
I've built this PFV Head Tracker, but its jitterly. (using dragonlink). I even connected it to dials on the controller the servos "stutter" Any suggestions please?

Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching

I get terrible motion sickness on trains. Busses. Cars. But never fpv and vr. Makes no sense
@@AndyRCchannel do you also get it when driving? Or only as a passenger?

Ah that's so much. Yes phill taught me to fly fixed wing in the early 90s

You have shared a wonderful head tracking technology. I was not aware. Fantastic! Thank you.
yes amazing head tracking technology, utterly groundbreaking and never before seen...

That was so enjoyable to watch. Views were spectacular nice UK winter’s sunny day. Thank you for sharing it cheered me up no end.
Yes sadly raining this weekend. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching
Nice video, therapeutic flying, good for the soul and heart, wonderful view, together with a friend

great flight Andy (or should I say Phil😁), I have it's little brother the g2 1200 and it's a beautiful fpv cruiser, highly recommended.👍
Caroline Tye? Her pan and tilt mechanism? No mention in your links list Andy….? Laurie NZ

I would really like so see it... :)

you got it the possibilities are endless.. working on a few special use cases at the moment :)
would it possible to put a gopro session or gopro on this with the tracker/fpv equipment, if so what sort of flight time is possible?
This would be awesome to kick back in a lounge chair and cruise around for a while when it's warm out.
That's the plan :-)
What is the motor prop setup on this bird sir andy as well its esc and battery?
-2 is pretty cold! I'm in Minnesota, it was -10 Fahrenheit yesterday...

What gimble are you using on this Volantex Ranger 2000 ? And can landing gear be added ?
What is your battery setup to last 1 hour ?
Perfect conditions. 1 Hour flight time is lovely, but probably nicer when you aren't freezing your nuts off :D

no reverse thrust while flying would not work in any kind of aviation capacity. take a wider approach for your landings
nice view broo
wow, nice where is this andy?
uk :)
Is it legal to film from Rc in England? And what altitude can jo fly in?
it certainly is up to 400 foot height. might even be 1000ft with single motor but we dont risk it.
@@AndyRCchannel okey thanks. No restriktion abuot camera on rc?
@@leifericson2061 you worry about rules a lot
That look great to fly
Can someone elaborate on why painting it black was good? Does it do something for the video quality or something? Thank you
Black forces the camera to a lower exposure. Otherwise light reflects and picture gets blown out
