- With their red star logo and brown bag, Macy’s is known to be one of America’s best-known department stores. This exemplary store was founded in 1858 and has a history that’s over 150 years long. What makes it stand out from the rest is the niche that it has carved out for itself in popular culture and is really famous for its magnificent Thanksgiving Day Parade.
This Story is about the founder Rowland Hussey Macy who at the age of 19, started working as a printer’s apprentice in Boston, being inspired by the legendary statesman - Benjamin Franklin’s success story. This was just the beginning of a remarkable journey that led to the creation of one of America’s most loved brands!
He became a master of advertising and publicity developing marketing strategies that became part and parcel of the retail industry for decades to come. Traditions that stand till this day. For example, did you know, Macy was the first one to set up Christmas-themed decor in stores?

Can you fit any more stock footage/ photos in this??
I found this very interesting mainly because I am also a descendent of Thomas Macy from Nantucket so love being able connect to my family history any information I can find.
That’s fascinating!! Have you considered doing any deeper research into your family, or making a short video about your families ties to Thomas Macy?
