Brandon I am so grateful to have visual instructors like yourself who are willing to patiently explain basic concepts. I have been in my Stats class for 6 weeks and still had a difficult time understanding and 'seeing' the relationship of 2 standard deviations and how it related to the confidence level. Because of your video, now I can visually see how the -5% and +5% lay within the bell curve at -2 and +2 deviations, I can answer math problems that ask whether an outcome is likely or extreme based on where it falls within the normal bell curve. Thank you for caring enough to take the time to visually explain your thoughts.

This is the best channel I've ever found for clearing the basics of stats. I am pursing my MBA and this helped me like anything for brushing up the basics. I am really greatful to you to putting up this effort in creating these videos and helping students. When you use the TI-83, I do not need to do the extra steps. I would like to see it done also on the TI-84. Thank You for your time to do these videos. I appreciate it very much.
Hello! I did something like that during my binomial distribution video; working from two discrete probability outcomes like a coin flip .5 / .5, and then the sum of two die 2-12, etc. I also covered this in another video discussing the difference between discrete and continuous variables as the denominator approaches infinity.

Great explanations! Thnx. A fine point-You explain beautifully why the probability of occurrence of any specific value on the x-axis (the measured variable) is zero. But at ~8:26 you say that the mean tends to be very frequent. But the mean (m) is a specific number. P(m) really =P(m +-D), where D is a range you specify. The smallest D is determined by the precision of your measuring instrument (as you point out).

Oh thank you so much! I am not sure if I have a conditional probability video yet per se. When would you need it by? I do have one on joint and marginal probabilities which is a form of conditional probability.

I would find it more useful and handy if you also mention what is happening beneath the calculator.i.e. give us the actual function and its mathematics (if possible, mentioning how somebody arrived at it). And a simple example problem that would fit into the content of the video.

Mr. Foltz, as much as I enjoy listening to your descriptions of the concepts and examples, I often wish there were more visual content on the stuff that you talk about. So I would like to request that if and when you get the means, you include some clips of real-life situations, for example your in nearest drugstore or park, to go with the concepts and examples. Secondly, I'm currently encountering problems in proving the very complex formulae involved in the topics you've explained, so I'd really like it if you could make a few videos deriving formulae from scratch and explaining how things work out throughout the process. Thirdly, I'd like to ask you if textbooks should be as explanatory as yourself and your videos. Finally, your videos on Stats have been a great help to me and made me wish my teachers taught like this, so, thank you very much xoxo

No problem. Just think of the cumulative probability as the probability "up to a certain location" on the distribution. The probability at far left is theoretically zero, then as you proceed to the right the probability accumulates. At the middle of the curve it would be .5 or 50%. Then it would proceed higher as you move rightward up to a theoretical maximum of 1 or 100%. Probability "accumulates" like rain, snow, or sand during a sandstorm.

Hello! The normalcdf function is under the DISTR menu (2nd-> VARS). It follows the pattern normalcdf(lower bound, upper bound, mean, standard deviation). So normalcdf(-e99,0,0,1) is the left half of the distribution. the -e99 part is an approximation of -infinity. It is under the comma button which is above the "7" key. Great in-depth description of normal distribution. This video gave me more understanding of where I'm at. However, I'm stuck on trying to figure out the concept of p-hat and sampling distribution and also finding the middle 39% (or any amount other than whole numbered stand. dev.) Do you have any videos or advice?
One thing you might clarify in a separate video is how the area gets to be 1 in real-life examples, where we have measured a variable (like ht or wt or...), and we have a freq distribution with counts (Ns) on the y-axis, and bins of x-values (ranges of our variable to greater or lesser precision). The area under this freq. distribution is a number >1.

Hello Brandon, Today was my last class for Six Sigma Green Belt and it's almost fifteen years since i left the studies so need a complete recap of Basic Stats understanding from the very beginning. Just wanted to have a series of order of learning from A to Z for all the Statistic topic videoz. I see playlists like pl01 and onwards but that even show missing stuff for e.g.. after pl01, i can't find pl02. Appreciate if you can guide the learning order for your videoz. thanks.

I am trying to build a spreadsheet that calculates stock price probability using a lognormal curve now and have had tremendous difficulty. For example, Apple has traded between 480-504/share for the last 30 days, what is the probability it will trade over 500 in the next 10 days? Can you help? Thanks!!!
