Rush developed their stage show over the years from a bare stage to a back projector to the amazing sets on the Time Machine, Clockwork Angels & finally the R40 tour. No expense spared yet still it was all about the music. That is a difficult balance to pull off & Rush did it beautifully. There'll never be another band quite like them.
The Album Clockwork Angels is also a Novel. It is a Dystopian world based on Alchemy. The symbols you see are fictional, slight factual Alchemical symbols. Excellent Novel.... The story and album were a concept created by Neil :) r.i.p
As others have mentioned this is a concept album with a steampunk theme and those are alchemy symbols. Clockwork Angels was a full concept album and there is a companion sci-fi book that Neil Peart wrote as well. This is one of my favourite songs off the album. I am enjoying your Rush journey ❤ Cheers 🇨🇦
Starting at the one o'clock position on the clock face, the symbols are Brimstone, Purification, Mercury, Winter, Zinc, Sun, Aquarius, Essence, Neptune, Lead, Earth, and Copper.
It is amazing to me now that so many people like how Geddy's voice sounds. The critics used to be brutal to him for his singing. They hated it. To be fair, critics hated Rush until late 2000's. They were eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for years and years before they were finally inducted. I will admit that Geddy's voice aged well even if he struggled to hit some of the (crazy) high notes he hit in the past. Your Rush reactions are awesome. It's such a joy seeing someone discover and appreciate a band I've listened to for more than 40 years. You have reacted to so few of their of songs and you have so much great music to discover - I'm jealous! You had another answer to symbols and that answer was right. There is actually a companion novel written by Neil Peart and Kevin Anderson and it's set in a dystopian alternate reality with a lot of alchemy and the symbols are alchemy symbols (with some creative liberties taken).
This is one of my favorite songs on that album. It goes all over the place and is so interesting! If you don't know, the album tells a story that takes place on a steam-powered world with mechanical automaton and steamships and lots of gears and cogs. This song is describing how the people gather around in the city to see, well... angels. They believe angels themselves inhabit the mechanical automatons. It's an interesting story, and the steampunk world they describe is pretty colorful. The symbols you see are old alchemical symbols. If you like his voice, his earlier stuff really showcases his voice well. He does a nice job in his later years, but unlike other instruments, the voice is one that flourishes best in youth.
This is the third track from their album Clockwork Angels; they premiered the first two songs, Caravan and BU2B, during their Time Machine tour, which also includes a must-see performance of their earlier hit Working Man. Cheers from Toronto! 🎤 🎸 🥁 🎸 🎻 🎻 🔥 🔥 🔥
😍 Love you guys! If you watch anything from the Time Machine Tour, watch for anything written on stage involving Time (Times Up, OverTime, etc....stuff like that). 😁 Some are REALLY funny! 😄 They always thought of new ways to keep the Fans entertained as well as the Band. Sometimes they looked as surprised as the audience when like 🤗 all of a sudden bubbles flood the stage! 🥰🐰
I was wary at first when I heard they were bringing a string section on tour with them, but man, they were incredible and added so much to the songs. Seeing it live was so awesome. This just didn't have the same kick on the R40 tour without the strings. (P.S. I've also thought the mix could have been better on this release and R40 also. . Just sayin
About week ago i heard first time in my life Falling in reverse Watch the world burn and after that it have been on loop. Please react this official music video and im sure your mind would be blown🤯

Yes Headlong Flight is amazing and one of the best live is Xanadu from Exit Stage Left in their younger years. Fantastic.

You have to see the album cover of Clockwork Angels to see what the symbols are.

The numerals spell out 2112,the title of their breakthrough 1976 album, clockwork angels is an amazing song by the way.
I noticed the time on the album cover is 9:12, which in 24-hour format is 21:12
you are so cute - thanks
