Nope... the bmw driver is faster in the corners but the porsche will be faster accelerating... You would have to constantly let the bmw pas in corner and take him over after the corner. He also managed to follow the bmw so I would say they even out.
This M3 driver has some huge balls. Many people here on youtube act like they would lap the ring better and bla bla...guy's if you go for your first lap on the ring, you gonna shit in your paints
Yep, I shit my pants. I drove my first 2 laps of the ring last year and you don't realise how intimidating it is until you are actually in your pride and joy driving round yourself, knowing that one fuck-up will be the end of your car (generally you're not insured on the ring) and a huge bill to be towed and for any damage you cause. It's easy for people to talk shit on youtube who have never actually driven a lap except for on Gran Turismo.
It was a street fighter lol max 80-100bhp that man had some balls lol..I`Ve been on 2 wheels on this track and it`s fucking scary with all the oil spill etc.. On this track it`s better and more fun a car and thats the only time..
Awesome video! The Porsche driver is good. You can see he really knows what he is doing. But the BMW driver was better. The GT3 is definitely the faster car. I tend to drive like that; go 10/10th's in the slow sections, but only 7/10's in the fast sections. Once I start going over 140 mph, the survival mechanism tells me to ease up so I can live to drive another day. 😂😂😂
The Porsche is not 'better'. They're two cars designed for different markets. The M3 is based on a luxury coupé; the 911 is a purpose-built sports car.
Bmw weight distribution is 50/50 a much more composed vehicle and if tuned a track monster. that can be said about the porsche aswell, although with is “faulty” design, weight distribution it has evolved entirely throughout the years a once called widow maker 911 has been tuned to perfection and differentials with a back engined non “loosing” power due to direct power transfer 911s rocket out of corners and m3s have better corner entry. Both different very sexy beasts. Have driven both and have one the E92 m3, confidence inspiring M
I love the comments here ;) It shows the problem with the GT3 (RS or not): if you're slow, people will say you suck as a driver, and if you're quick, then it's all because of the car... FYI, the M3's engine is not modded, but it's got a suspension and semi slicks. Driver is not a pro, but definitely quick (and a really nice guy).
He does not race cars professionally (= for a living), or even in an amateur series. He just tracks his M3 in his spare time, and he's got a lot of laps under his belt, hence the spot on driving.

So many commented about M3 being modified and therefore faster car but it’s not always the Horse power, it’s carrying the speed through momentum and using heal&toe technique to stay in the right gear/high rev that makes you pick up speed sooner (of course hitting the apex right& clean lines must be a given) For ex: M3 staying in the gear& high rev through cornering 1:47-1:59 And clearly see the GT3 being faster in a strait line 2:00-2:09
It is not, the driver knows the track(following after the passing was much better for Porsche driver), he is professional and that big wing on back of the Porsche is wrong on the straight line
Hello Sir. I want to take a second to applaud you for making an outstanding video. The two video views on my screen was put together very well and the sound of the 911 was pure joy. I would have never believed a M3 could corner well enough to keep up with the 911. Speed is one thing but the chassis strength, tires etc put that M3 on par with the 911 and you captured it beautifully. So well done. Thumbs up!!!!
nice driving love the car. But your car is faster than the M3. The owner of the M3 carries more speed through the corners as well as some areas of the track as you noticeably lift of the throttle at some points and hang on to some of the gears too long and downshift when not not necessary. I guess once you learn more about your car and its capabilities you will better your lap times. Loved to the video though. Keep up the good work
This video shows a good example about what a real racing line is and how everyone isn't necessarily a good driver just because you have driven fast cars all your life. People think they are good until they go against experienced racers. Its a whole different ball game. I am constantly learning to drive faster and taking just a few tenths off lap times. It takes a lot of practice and track time.

In other words if anybody tells you the M3 is no proper sports-car you should show them this video. I think you are mixing few things. The GT3 is faster than the M3. But this particular M3 is prepared, making it "as fast" (can't really judge that accurately) as my GT3 (no setup). So it was all about the driver, and the M3 owner just did a better job. The M3 E92 is a good car for sure, lot of them on track. But stock, this car is not in the same league as the GT3. And in straight line you can clearly see that I have more power. He just kept more speed on high apex! Anyway, I enjoyed meeting this driver and I'm glad you enjoy the video! :)
Great Troll Racer I thought that is pretty exactly what I was trying to say. Your GT3 faster in a straight line. This M3 is modified to be faster in the corners (tires etc.) The point is you can make an M3 as fast as a GT3. Just like a 911 can be transformed into a GT3. Meaning the base car has to be exeptional for a modified (or GT3ified) car to be this fast. Which means the M3 is a proper sports car, just like the 911 which so many people deny. (Those people haven't been on track days obviously) Did this make sense? I Don't know, I'm quite tired right now :-) Still a cool video to watch and also having the balls to post a video where someone else is faster than you. Most people only share videos of their heroic driving, if you know what I mean :-)
great vid, great battle. one of the best i've seen on YT and i've seen a bunch. i got scared on the back straight when i saw the M3 going for the pass on what i thought was the right but he passed on the left. i like that you have the rear-facing camera as well but may i suggest you flip the video horizontally so it plays like a rear-view camera? it would be a lot more natural when you inset the vid on top of the forward-facing footage.

Its an M3 GTS, imagine a BMW equivalent to the GT3 RS series. Weight reduction, aero, power all from the factory. They only made a limited number though of course

He's at least 7 seconds a lap quicker than the GT3 driver if you combine all the corners that the M3 driver had to lift off the throttle.

e92 guy was a lot quicker and should have let him pass earlier. nevertheless you are very brave pushing yourself at the Nürburgring as I would definitely crash if I did.

It depends how hard you drive, tire pressure ect... Hard to tell... For a novice I would say that 2000km of pure track is the absolute minimum.

Its an M3 GTS, imagine a BMW equivalent to the GT3 RS series. Weight reduction, aero, power all from the factory. They only made a limited number though of course
I don't think it's an M3 GTS. If you look at the roof, there is an antenna on the M3 from the footage. The M3 GTS doesn't have any.
Maybe after market, if not that's definitely one built ass E92

that black M3 is fast that driver is smooth ive seen him in many videos not many drivers can hang with him at all
Very Nice Video. This has me licking my chops. I bought a '14 Boxster Sept'16. Joined the PCA November and they've got a track day scheduled at Grattan Track in Michigan for July 29thru31/2017. It'll be school for a rookie like me but I'm really looking forward to it. Ya, I realize my car won't be close to the speed of these two cars, but it'll be FUN.

Good driving guys, I love my E46 m3, been beating e92's for years, even drove one and felt it's weak mid range, Now I'm going to look for a E92 M3 as I now know with the right mods it Can eat GT3's.
The main mod is the driver...
