  • Meet superskinny Kim, who obsession with running and lack of food means she's running on empty and supersize Trudy, the queen of takeaways!
    Each of the participants eat the diet of the other. At the end of the experiment, they have a better idea of how extreme their consumption looks to another person. Every episode I saw had the participants sharing an experience that gave them empathy for other that usually didn't exist before. At the follow-up after the end of the experiment, they were true friends who relied on each other for encouragement. I can think of only one show where a participant had gained weight. All of the others were successful in following their program.

I'm 5ft3 and weigh 8 stone, I get my athletic frame from my mum and an extra stone or two wouldn't look right on me, so I don't think they take body type into consideration. We are all so different! My diet consists of meal replacent shakes and coffee . It's apparently called transfered addiction. Some swap food for alcohol or binging to severe restriction like myself.its so easily done but if I had my time again I'd have reached out for help years ago instead of punishing myself to the point I'm hospitalised & needing constant potassium,magnezium & iron infusions.

    • @ShoshiPlatypus
      @ShoshiPlatypus 4 года назад +16

      Natalie Love I quite agree, with the exception of B12. Also, there’s a lot of bad weight loss and nutritional advice on this series. If you follow a whole-food plant-based diet, you can eat as much as you want and lose weight, and maintain a healthy weight. He keeps going on about how dairy is essential for bone health. This has been proved to be false. The evidence speaks for itself: the western nations which consume the most dairy have the highest incidence of osteoporosis. Dairy products are acidic and to compensate, the body draws calcium OUT of the bones, causing porosity. Cheese is very high in saturated fat and is highly addictive. You can get all the calcium you need from leafy green vegetables and a whole-food plant-based diet. The problem with concentrating on calorie intake all the time is that diets based on this always fail. It is not the quantity of calories which is crucial but the density of them. Eating whole-food plant-based means satiety from low calorie density. It also fosters a healthy gut microbiome which is crucial in combating obesity. I lost 4 1/2 stone on the 5:2 diet and was hungry 2 days a week. I abandoned this when I discovered the whole-food plant-based lifestyle and now eat as much as I want and am maintaining a healthy weight for my height. The food is also absolutely delicious and I have embarked on a whole new culinary adventure after nearly 50 years of conventional western-style cooking. This lifestyle has been proved not only to prevent, but to reverse common life-threatening western diseases such as type 2 diabetes and coronary artery disease. These facts should be much more widely known - the research from many years is freely available.

      Agreed, it was just about the only thing that clued me in on how dated the show's original air date must've been. I felt really bad for Kim because they were kind of treating it like it's not normal to dislike meat, especially with the obnoxious condescension the narrator uses calling it a "flesh phobia". It's pretty reasonable to find overly processed meat suspicious and unappetising, they would have been better off prioritizing vegetarian proteins to supplement her diet with. A bit of cheese, beans, eggs, peanutbutter, or even hummus incorporated to or inbetween meals would go to great lengths to help her gain and retain her weight!

      The 2000 calories a day thing is common knowledge in the USA and UK (as far as I know 🤷‍♀️). Do you live in a different country from the UK or USA? Maybe it's different depending on where you live 🤔? I just know he in the USA all our packaged foods have a statment that says "percent daily values are based on a 2000 calorie diet..."

      @@StrawberryMontage 2000 calories a day is too much for most women. I'm about 5'5" and my daily caloric intake should be between 1300-1500. It depends on your age and activity level. This woman should probably be eating more than 2000 because she runs so much though.

      @@butterflyblues2917 oh well yeah that makes since I am a good bit taller I eat around 1600 a day to lose weight and that's been working... well I also cut out nearly all sugar and I have 2, 4 yearold boys so they keep me active too lol

      Butterfly Blues there’s a funny story of how that came to be. Basically the government wanted a average calorie count for all adults, and it averaged 2350. They rounded down for women and up for men.

      @@StrawberryMontage no, I live in the USA, but 2000 calories is way too much. Even if I tried, I'd never be able to eat like that and thank God because then I'd be fat. It doesn't matter if you're "supposed" to eat like that. The government or whoever made those ridiculous rules doesn't own me or my body. So who says I have to eat like an obese person? I never go over 1300 cals. I'm usually under that everyday. I'm 33 yrs old, 5'4 in height and I've been able to stay 105 lbs for years so i think I'm doing something right verses eating 2000 calories because someone says that's the "recommendation." It's bullshit and I will not follow it just like I will not follow eating meat. Just because society's eats certain ways doesn't mean it's healthy.

      So all those studies showing a connection between sodium and high blood pressure are what? Fake?
      So if I eat the same foods I always eat and my blood pressure is normal, but another day I eat the exact same thing and add a dill pickle, and my systolic BP is 15-20 mmHg higher, why is that according to you?
      Did the extra 7 calories from a pickle put me into metabolic syndrome? 😂😂😂
      FYI, I do take my blood pressure daily. If I eat things like pickles or olives I have to be careful. It (the sodium) actually DOES effect my blood pressure, just like the evidence says it does.

      You'll be telling us that lung cancer is caused by metabolic syndrome and not smoking next!
      There's sufficient science for me to want to avoid smoking and added salt. It's your life. You follow whatever you want.

      You won't get new body but new mind with which you'll be led to live healthier as our bodies are temples of Holy Spirit. When i started seeking Jesus i got new strenght, happiness and peace and i started taking care of myself as eating healthy and working out. I also was led by Lord to which foods to avoid which aren't good for my body (processed, fat, empty of fiber,..)
