This is the realest episode in the series. Usually they're they're just "one really likes food and the other doesn't", but Layton has issues with gender and sexuality and Lucy has an eating disorder.
People don't become morbidly obese because they have "issues with gender ", and it's not called "sexuality". The dude is a molestation survivor and it's seriously gross how the 'people of gender' are twisting it and downplaying it for their own political benefit.
Right? I restrict my diet to only eating certain things or finding keto alternatives to sweets so I can keep my carb intake low because I know I’ll lose control if I have things like ice cream or candy or chocolate or cookies. I have to burn a minimum of a thousand calories a day, maximum of 4,000 with a calorie intake between 300-900 calories a day and if I don’t burn any calories at all during the day I won’t eat. Only sodas I drink are diet ones, I take diet pills and use caffeine and nicotine to control my appetite and every time I binge on something I end up spending my night crying uncontrollably because I can’t bring myself to puke. It’s miserable and I’ve spent my life in and out of a cycle of recovery and relapse. I just wanna eat and not worry about dieting constantly and exercising constantly.
I used to be 90 pounds and I am now 160 pounds because I was dating/living with someone that encouraged me to eat. Its bizarre to go from one extreme to the other

it's not about promoting an unhealthy lifestyle but more about not bullying people because they're fat (as we see here on this show many people gain weight because they've been bullied as chubby children) and also not despising yourself because you're overweight. if you don't love yourself you'll never be able to lose weight and do yourself something good. at the end of the day the question if somebody is obese or not is none of everybody elses business, that's their own cup of tea.
This is so triggering since Lucy clearly has a restrictive eating disorder. The fact that she makes up excuses not to go out if eating is involved resonates a lot with me. This just feels so real.
Why does Anna have to be in every single episode? I don't think this is helpful to anyone. Most people don't have the money to get these procedures done. It would be more helpful to hear from professional trainers who can show ways to do it naturally.

there are so many older episodes of this show where the skinny one obsessively counts calories and the show doesn't really acknowledge it that much and it's like, bruh... they have an eating disorder. or at the very least they have disordered eating habits. they should like, go to therapy, either way. on the flip side there are also a lot of episodes where the overweight one says they eat so that they can feel something or that they start eating and can't stop (like they readily admit to binge eating) and it's like, they probably also have an eating disorder but just not a restrictive one.
yes!! i feel like people forget that this show is from 2008, which makes total sense for how “toxic” anna’s body perfecting segment is, and the general lack of focus on mental health. they also get many statistics blatantly wrong (15-17% is the AVERAGE body fat percentage for males??!) and the Goal is clearly just shock & entertainment, rather than actually helping out either supersize.
Being strict about counting calories, being a picky eater, wanting to loose weight even though you’re skinny enough doesn’t automatically mean you have an eating disorder. I’m sure the show didn’t want to diagnose since the guy is not a physiatrist
PSA. A disproportionate amount of autistic women have an eating disorder bc of obsession with control, routine, numbers, and stuff related to coping with the social world. The thing is, many women are not diagnosed and are unaware that they may be on the spectrum. I wasn’t diagnosed until this year when I turned 21. I never had an eating disorder but it’s easy for people like me to fall into unhealthy habits like these especially since many of us struggle with high levels of anxiety and poor self esteem, hence seeking control. 20-30% of adults with eating disorders are on the autism spectrum.
It’s also not uncommon for people on the autistic spectrum to have problems with the texture or taste of food, which can contribute a lot to an ED because you already have foods that you consider “safe” because you like the taste or texture. At least, this contributes and feeds into my ED and I’ve had friends with ASD who talked about their already picky eating habits feeding into an eating disorder.
Oh wow. Thank you for your post. I've never read anything about this before. My son was diagnosed be at age 3 and it totally makes sense. I was never diagnosed but definitely have tendencies.

"That is someone who is actually anorexic" No. Eating disorders are invisible. A big chunk of people with anorexia aren't emaciated. Your ed is valid even if you aren't underweight.
I think he meant “that’s someone who is, in fact, anorexic [the way you could be]” if that makes sense? it’s common to say “actually” in that context in the UK, not sure about elsewhere
You actually do have to be classified as underweight to get diagnosed as having anorexia nervosa If you are a healthy weight you would be diagnosed with another eating disorder .
I wish they would have someone with a healthy relationship with food be there in the clinic with them and cook for them instead of encouraging them to the other end of the unhealthy spectrum.
I really do feel for Leighton because I was in that boat too. Ice cream and cookie dough became my best friends when I came out as asexual. This was during the height of the pandemic too so that just made things worse. Would love to say I’ve got a better relationship with food but I really don’t….

His diet is prolly *full of junk food* so his blood sugar stays elevated which keeps him sick. Oftentimes when people get REALLY sick they give up and decide to eat EVERYTHING because why not?
I mean I understand why her segments aren’t fitting to the overall mood of the show, but anyone can not like the way they look, no matter how conventionally attractive they actually are. Self consciousness knows no particular body type lol
It's quite tone deaf. Everyone has points on their body they wish were better, but seeing a healthy weight woman complain constantly on a show supposedly about getting to a healthy weight is a bizarre choice. What bothers me the most though is how unbelievably lazy she is. Every show she complains endlessly about the smallest amount of exercise, acts like having to walk up a small hill is like climbing Everest, and puffs and complains through one session before declaring 'obviously this exercise will not help me, I need (insert surgerical intervention/various stupid therapies)'. It's so unhelpful and stupid.
This is weird but this made me self conscious of breasts I mean they’re fine and I’m still young but I’m scared if it’ll be droopy in the future 😬 does anybody know how to take care of them
It's highly dependent on genetics and body composition. Whether your breasts are large or small, you should get properly fitted for good supportive bras. Use a sports bra when exercising, avoid extreme weight loss or weight gain and avoid sun damage to the chest area. All this aside, gravity comes for everyone and your breasts will probably not remain perky forever as it's like any other part of our skin/flesh, it gets loose with age.
They will get droopy. Gravity makes sure of this. I don’t think any boobs don’t change in elasticity over the decades. Aging is okay and perfectly normal though. Try to remember that!
Look up bra less movement. Less droop over time because the breast tissue strengthens over time to support itself. Been bra free for 5 years now and my breast are perk and look great.
It can lead to stress, seeing all the options and not knowing what to get. You feel like temptations are everywhere and you don't know what foods to get to help you best stick to your diet. You can put things back and take new ones many times and still second guess yourself. Been there many times, glad this is no longer me. Your experience is valid too though. To someone with an eating disorder, reading calorie labels can provide a sense of control.
I’ve had an ED for over a decade and I love going to the grocery store. I will sit in the weight loss aisle for hours reading the nutrition labels on diet shakes and protein bars if you let me.
When I was battling anorexia, I hated shopping, because the store was always full of things I didn't allow myself to eat. And I was ALWAYS hungry, so all the food was torture to be around.
I agree, but to be fair one way you help someone with an ED is show them that they can have a heathy(er) relationship with food and control their own diet. Showing people like Lucy who are borderline or in the early stages of anorexia that they world won`t end and they wont immediately turn into a hippo if they eat a few unhealthy meals is a good way of doing it. Its basically what they were doing (all be it in a more subtle and moderate way) with the group of more "established"? (probably not the right world but whatever) anorexics and the baked potatoes.
I question the ethics of placing people who clearly have anorexia into this feeding clinic. Multiple superskinnies on this show have had very clear signs of EDs. A feeding clinic is not what ED sufferers need, they need intensive treatment with psychologists.
They volunteered without saying they have the disorder. It’s not the people’s fault for not disclosing that since they probably don’t know, but it’s also not the shows fault for having them as participants either since the show definitely didn’t know. They never get people with actual diagnosed eating disorders. Only people who say they have unhealthy eating habits/ disordered eating, which is different from an “eating disorder”
When I was a young man I knew a girl who was anorexic and spaghetti was not only thing her family could get her to eat. She saw counseling for it and I think she eventually got past it. Last time I saw her a long time ago she looked normal.
just because someone looks “normal” doesn’t they mentally recovered maybe just their body did. it’s not that easy. you can be anorexic without being underweight
hii i just wanted to point out that anorexia or eating disorders in general aren’t just about the deficit of weight but its also about your mental state. i feel like this show isn’t very good at depicting this i understand this season was filmed in 2010 but still its very overlooked and quite harmful
forgot to mention that anorexia is a mental disorder!!! not just how little you weigh, you can be a normal weight and have an eating disorder. you dont have to extremely skinny and be in critical condition to have anorexia (like shown in the ana team), its all about how you perceive things and your relationship with food and how it damages you, more importantly mentally than physical.
@@fleurscaptivesslook at the definition of anorexia: fear of food, rigid control of food, over exercising, and low BMI. Anorexia starts out as loosing few pounds and then the individual becomes obsessed, extreme cases of anorexia lead to death because body breakdown muscle and heart is a muscle. Disordered eating can be restrictive or binging or purging. Remember, anorexia Nervosa is psychological illness that kills if not treated
I feel like Anna is being satire and trying to make a statement of how society is ridiculously obsessed with looks and weight but honestly I'm confused 😂
As someone that's had a breast reduction that is exactly what they do with the exception of if you are very large breasted they take a "cookie cutter" and cut the size of your areola down to match the new size of breast. Best thing I've ever done!
This show has me realising that I look at myself and think I look like the Supersized person and that I'm aiming to be the Superskinny person. When neither option is a good one really...
I feel the same. I used to be a super skinny but now I'm a healthy weight. And this show is helping me see I'm not a super sized nor do I want to be superskinny again. Body dismorphia is f*****
I love Anna Richardson, she’s very entertaining. However, I think it’s kind of contradictory of the show to be filming Anna trying to achieve “the perfect body” while helping people recover from an unhealthy relationship with food at the same time.

U could binge 6000 kcal easy in 6 hours, together with the inactivity, it's a recipe for disaster.
absolutely loved this duo i think this is my favorite episode, i hope life has gotten much better for them wherever they are now:)
I skip through the parts with Anna. I wish in all of these they would have focused on the SS’s
Anna Richardson should stop whining about her body. She looks great. I don't know what she is doing in this program.
Kinda annoying.
She’s the comic relief.
I fast forward her part
LUCY LOOKS SOOO GOOD
WOW
I have been meaning to write the below commentary for so long and at last have got it down. Wonderful.
Honey, that's not a 'habit' its an eating disorder.
hey ed community if you’re here like i am i hope you are doing well :(
This is weird but this made me self conscious of breasts I mean they’re fine and I’m still young but I’m scared if it’ll be droopy in the future 😬 does anybody know how to take care of them
It's highly dependent on genetics and body composition.
Full sun exercise helps keep them up but as you age they droop.
Do chest presses. Sleep with a sports bra on every once in a while.
Look up bra less movement. Less droop over time because the breast tissue strengthens over time to support itself. Been bra free for 5 years now and my breast are perk and look great.
She looks like a mix of Princess Diana and Sophie Turner
Lucy is showing classic signs of an ED. Control is making me think of anorexia
Yes, poor woman, hope she's better now
i didnt know that most anorexics dont like grocery stores ??? i literally Love just browsing through the aisles and reading calorie labels lmfao
Anwen Su i totally get that !!!!! i’m so happy for you that this is something you no longer have to go through ♡
I used to love going to the store to stare at all the desserts and food that I wished I could eat. We're all a little different
Isn't Lucys body a typical example of what is shown as super healthy and beautiful? That's concerning.
Lucy is gorgeous, omg. And the colour of her dress is on point.
Layton us a great guy! In hope he has a happy life. ❤️
I do definitely think Lucy has an eating disorder. She needs treatment for Eds rather than a diet swap
I think so too, she was crying with fear but kept shoveling bravely.
Bring the show back!!!
Well done Ashley! That was brilliant
What does dr Christian have against side burns???
Tori Johnston lmao never noticed this now it’s all I can see
Omg
Don't nobody else love how Dr. Christian says "body"?
it makes me so proud to see the people with eating disorders take more steps to recovery :'))
Lucy is so beautiful
My best friend is like Leighton he’s so supportive of me and always there for me when I’m sad
Ros is dangerously I’ll she’s really needing hospital admission.I can’t believe her husband hasn’t realized!! Her face says it all
When I was a young man I knew a girl who was anorexic and spaghetti was not only thing her family could get her to eat. She saw counseling for it and I think she eventually got past it. Last time I saw her a long time ago she looked normal.
just because someone looks “normal” doesn’t they mentally recovered maybe just their body did. it’s not that easy. you can be anorexic without being underweight
@@heleneeeeeeeeeWell, you can’t have anorexia nervosa at a healthy weight.
Other eating disorders yes, but not anorexia nervosa
hii i just wanted to point out that anorexia or eating disorders in general aren’t just about the deficit of weight but its also about your mental state. i feel like this show isn’t very good at depicting this i understand this season was filmed in 2010 but still its very overlooked and quite harmful
forgot to mention that anorexia is a mental disorder!!! not just how little you weigh, you can be a normal weight and have an eating disorder. you dont have to extremely skinny and be in critical condition to have anorexia (like shown in the ana team), its all about how you perceive things and your relationship with food and how it damages you, more importantly mentally than physical.
Remember, anorexia Nervosa is psychological illness that kills if not treated
every time with women on the show it started during or after their pregnancy. they really arent making me want to get pregnant
Pregnancy literally ruins your body. I’m definitely adopting lol
@@jenniferisabitch9517 same
Big mood
they were both really nice 💗
Not me being back here to trigger myself
🎶I've got my clown dress on tonight🎶
Same,,,, from the bottom of my heart I hope u can recover
You need to do this in Italy!
I think the shows finished now ☹️.
i have days where all i do is eat and sleep. this is what i feel i look like 😐
Best episode they're so nice i hope the best for them
I feel like Anna is being satire and trying to make a statement of how society is ridiculously obsessed with looks and weight but honestly I'm confused 😂
I think its supposed to be very tongue-in-cheek but with dry humor? Byt I agree I think its supposed to be satire
Chest workouts don't really do anything for flabby boobs. It's just that the muscles beneath them grow which might optically fill out the area a bit.
Anyone else notice the spider hoofing it down the white pillar at approx 26 secs ?
@Ryan T the spider is screaming, “I don’t give you permission to record me”.
As someone that's had a breast reduction that is exactly what they do with the exception of if you are very large breasted they take a "cookie cutter" and cut the size of your areola down to match the new size of breast. Best thing I've ever done!
Lucy has such an amazing face - hope she makes it :)
This episode made me so so sad
34:00 anyone know if these guys are ok now? this was so sad to watch I hope they're doing well
This show has me realising that I look at myself and think I look like the Supersized person and that I'm aiming to be the Superskinny person. When neither option is a good one really...
Exactly!
I feel the same. I used to be a super skinny but now I'm a healthy weight. And this show is helping me see I'm not a super sized nor do I want to be superskinny again. Body dismorphia is f*****
They both seem so nice
Lucy’s wraps and sandwiches look good. 😅
I love Anna Richardson, she’s very entertaining. However, I think it’s kind of contradictory of the show to be filming Anna trying to achieve “the perfect body” while helping people recover from an unhealthy relationship with food at the same time.
Lucy is so beautiful omg
Latin seemed so lovely and I feel so bad for Lucy :/
Morag also sounds like she may have some level of OCD
She just doesn’t seem that skinny. Unless she eats a lot of junk food I’d have a hard time believing she’s not healthy
Not the Sherlock Holmes in the comments guessing they have eating disorders... In a show that talks about and shows people with eating disorders.
Love this show!
who else cried when lucy cried?
