Why am I overweight? 1)Fat Phobia 2)Calorie Fear 3)Hidden sugars 4)Fear of Hunger 5)Slip up so screw it 1)Fat Phobia Natural Diatary Fat is not responsible for cholesterol or heart disease or obesity. We've eaten it since day dot. Dont avoid it, it's filling, tasty and good for you but also don't force it by having extra fat bombs etc between meals If your hungry between meals include more natural fat in your next meal along with natural fatty meats/fish and natural complex non starchy carbs (vegetables) 2)Calorie Fear Content is FAR more important. Eat meals comprised of Natural foods, including natural fat, slowly, till you are satisfied but not stuffed then stop regardless of calorie count. (if stupidly large portions are an issue research correct amounts but having 2 large meals no snacks a day should naturally correct your appetite) Remember your body does not posses a calorie counter, it react to food by releasing insulin in the required amounts according to the content of that food High sugar/highly processed carbohydrate = more and longer lasting insulin = longer spent in fat storing mode. 3)Hidden sugar Sugar, in any one of its 56+ forms, is in over 90% of supermarket products. So aim for Natural foods rather than highly processed 'food-like' foods. Remember that more than 5g sugar per 100g of product is a high sugar product. And also combinations of sugar + fat are the absolute WORST for spiking insulin (cakes, cookies, biscuits, pastries, etc) 4)Fear of Hunger Excess fat cells produce excess Leptin Leptin is the hormone of saitey. A bit extra Leptin tells us to naturally eat less for a while A lot extra Leptin causes resistance to build and the 'eat less' message is lost. As you metabolise the excess fat your Leptin resistance will heal and the message will return. Hunger will pass in waves and will not cause you any physical harm. Drink a glass of water, go for a walk, remind yourself of your goals and occupy yourself till the hunger passes. 5)Slip up so screw it "I've had a bite so I may as well eat the whole thing, and this other thing, and that other thing...." One bite does NOT have to turn into a feeding frenzy. Forgive yourself, breath in for 5 seconds and out for 5 seconds, do that a few times over and then think of your goals and move on with your day.
oh, I feel the teeth thing soooo hard man. I had terrible teeth since I was like 7 and I never smiled or ate around people because of it. I got braces eventually, but still, I hated it.
Interesting that Nick ate the fast food and Allison ate lovely home cooked meals, I love how this show challenged preconceptions about weight and food. They’re both so lovely, and hope they’re both doing well. This was such a wholesome episode.
I don't see the point of getting rid of stretch marks or why people think they're so ugly. I have stretch marks all over my body after going through anorexia then immediately into binge eating and dealing with both PCOS and a thyroid condition. I'm not proud of my past disorders, but these marks are a reminder of the journey my body has gone on and everything I've been through. They show strength.
Lmao, I died watching that guy trying to cook. He said he thought garlic was green lmao. People this is not OK! Cooking is one of the most basic needs of life! everyone should know it.
I hope the people who bullied him when they were all younger see this, see the impact they had on him, and feel ashamed of themselves. Think his mates could do with a healthy dose of shame as well.
I started using smaller plates a long time ago. It has helped me to really appreciate and understand portion control. I get it though, my husband panics if he thinks he's not getting enough on his plate. I've also been told that I don't cook enough food at once.
I feel so sorry for him. I think he needs psychological help to deal with his past issues and not just food. Also, fixing his teeth will give him so much more confidence and improve his life so much more. This episode makes me happy and sad at the same time 😭

(if stupidly large portions are an issue research correct amounts but having 2 large meals no snacks a day should naturally correct your appetite)
Remember your body does not posses a calorie counter, it react to food by releasing insulin in the required amounts according to the content of that food
High sugar/highly processed carbohydrate = more and longer lasting insulin = longer spent in fat storing mode.
3)Hidden sugar
Sugar, in any one of its 56+ forms, is in over 90% of supermarket products.
So aim for Natural foods rather than highly processed 'food-like' foods.
Remember that more than 5g sugar per 100g of product is a high sugar product.
And also combinations of sugar + fat are the absolute WORST for spiking insulin (cakes, cookies, biscuits, pastries, etc)
4)Fear of Hunger
Excess fat cells produce excess Leptin
Leptin is the hormone of saitey.
A bit extra Leptin tells us to naturally eat less for a while
A lot extra Leptin causes resistance to build and the 'eat less' message is lost.
As you metabolise the excess fat your Leptin resistance will heal and the message will return.
Hunger will pass in waves and will not cause you any physical harm.
Drink a glass of water, go for a walk, remind yourself of your goals and occupy yourself till the hunger passes.
5)Slip up so screw it
"I've had a bite so I may as well eat the whole thing, and this other thing, and that other thing...."
One bite does NOT have to turn into a feeding frenzy.
Forgive yourself, breath in for 5 seconds and out for 5 seconds, do that a few times over and then think of your goals and move on with your day.
The message from America got me good this time.
The girl with the lisp and curly hair is gorgeous! She'd be stunning with some more weight on. I hope they're all doing well.
when he was smiling about how proud he was of cooking for myself rly warmed my heart
Another bunch of sweet folks. I ligit cried when Allison gave that young man a hug. I wish them so much sucess.
oh, I feel the teeth thing soooo hard man. I had terrible teeth since I was like 7 and I never smiled or ate around people because of it. I got braces eventually, but still, I hated it.
oh bless his soul, his teeth are cute, kids can be so cruel :(
Alison is incredibly patient and kind. She really should be a foster mom for 15-18 year old kids. Teach them to cook and be an adult. She is so sweet!
I hope Alison and Nick kept in touch after the show and continued to support each other.
i love how they got on so well with each other and planned to stay in touch after the feeding clinic
Interesting that Nick ate the fast food and Allison ate lovely home cooked meals, I love how this show challenged preconceptions about weight and food. They’re both so lovely, and hope they’re both doing well. This was such a wholesome episode.
I love how they didnt use the jarred tomatoe sauce stuff and cooked from scratch!
Cooking is one of the most basic needs of life! everyone should know it.
right lol
Factss
Lol ikr. When i was little i helped my mom with cooking and cutting vegetables (and still do when i am at my parents). I guess he never did that
Her understanding kind spirit is exactly what he needed and his non judgmental kind spirit is exactly what she needed so lovely
Ive been watching this show over and over for years and this is by far the most wholesome episode ever.
This was the most lovingly wholesome swap sizes oh my Lord 😍 they should have their own show
This was really heartwarming
That is so great that they became friends! Nick, don’t let anyone call you names. You are a wonderful person!
omg the lady is so sweet the way she hugged him..i wish them all the best
this episode was so nice the way they bonded together they're so lovely both of them hope they're thriving and kept in touch
Really lovely, warm participants. Best of lucks!
This episode genuinely made me smile, specifically Alison's kindness ☺️💕
I hope the people who bullied him when they were all younger see this, see the impact they had on him, and feel ashamed of themselves. Think his mates could do with a healthy dose of shame as well.
When bullying phases you out of your life then you are unworthy.
This is the best partnership I've seen. Alison teaching Nick how to cook was lovely to see.
Favourite episode so far😭this is jus the best pair, they are soooo sweet
Is anyone going to address how these two have such a loving teaching mother and son dynamic 💙 it's so sweet!
I would love it if a dentist's office stepped up and gave Nick the smile he deserves, free of charge? that would be truly amazing!!
His teeth are not ugly... No one can have a perfect face, and the rest of his face is really cute. :)
COME ON ALLISON AND NICK, I KNOW YOU TWO CAN DO IT!!!
Anna's segment of the show = toxic and distasteful TRASH. Why include something so stupid on such a good show?
I hate that she grabs her body and shakes it with disgust.
Emily me too lol
@Emily I always skip over her segments
Idk i always thoght that those parts are jokes
They are real people with real problems. It’s not stupid
Am I the only one who get s bothered with the meal size comments like the mammoth size meal at 13:10?
Yes, it's kind of a normal portion to me. And I' m not overweight...
I started using smaller plates a long time ago. It has helped me to really appreciate and understand portion control. I get it though, my husband panics if he thinks he's not getting enough on his plate. I've also been told that I don't cook enough food at once.
Nadine right
this one makes me cry. they're both such lovely people and I hope they're doing well.
ashley is very attractive. i hope he’s recovered
There's an episode some where that follows up on him, He is recovered and has a healthy weight now!

Argh there’s nothing wrong with his teeth bless him he is fine there both amazing. Xxx
Honestly stretch marks are something to be proud of. They’re battle scars from a long hard battle. Own them! Love them!
What a wholesome episode.Alison is so supportive
This is the most heart warming episode because the 2 main participants bonded and helped each other.
I feel so sorry for him. I think he needs psychological help to deal with his past issues and not just food. Also, fixing his teeth will give him so much more confidence and improve his life so much more. This episode makes me happy and sad at the same time 😭
I agree, teeth can play such a huge role in confidence, he’s actually attractive, but I think it would help ❤
Damn Allison is so nice :3 and her meals are pretty great, its just the snacks and portion sizes.
