Back in the early 1980’s I found myself standing next to Dave in a queue at Woolworths in St Ives in Cambridgeshire , I was so thrilled when he said hello to me . Years later I spent some time talking to him in his pub at Somersham , he was just the nicest man you could meet , so down to earth and ordinary , a total legend and musical genius .
I saw The Stranglers live at the Corn Exchange in Cambridge. I had also seen them just three days earlier in Leamington but as I was going to Norfolk that Friday and saw they were in Cambridge that same evening, I stopped off then continues my journey once the gig had finished.
A real ‘rock & roll attitude’ like the Pogues singing in a pub, or in the 60s many rockers would play in pubs after a concert or between two tours (Hendrix, Clapton, Winter, etc....). Or Hubert Félix Thiéfaine, who take some friends of me in his car and then bought them a drink in a bar. Not like today's ‘celebrities’ who try to fart higher than their arses!
