Love your approach to surf vids on YT bro - unpretentious! I’m a mad sunrise surfer ever since getting sucked into the gold room. At Manly as well. Surfing Ulladulla and Mollymook we see a heap of sharks - fucking things give me the willys but the local groms are like, “yea, they’re here all the time.” 😮. Keep em coming dude!
Hell yeah! Thanks so much. Man there is something special about being out there as the sun first peaks over the horizon, the colours are crazy! Daylight savings is over tomorrow so sunrises are gunna be super early starts! Haha Thanks again mate
😂😂😂 you gotta do what you can! Thanks fella, I though the raw clips better captured the session! Todays vid I’m pretty pleased with, conditions were super fun
No thanks Josh, you won't see me out til sun up bro. Heavy fat sets though and alot of paddling. Tough session hombre, keep up the great content your killing it............
Thanks Boog. Yeah I’m not loving the paddle out in the dark, freaks me out. We weren’t expecting swell so when it was pushing through we were stoked. The shore break was so heavy.
Hi mate. Just subscribed and have been checking out your videos. Love your work. I am getting a dhd phoenix and seen that your board is 5,10. Can I please ask what your height and body weight is? Sorry if that's personal info but really wanting to know what size is best for me. Im 78kgs and 5,10 and average Joe surfer (no pro). Also are you still happy with the size of your board or would you choose bigger or smaller now that you have been riding it?
Hey mate, thanks so much for your nice words. So I’m 5’9 and 85kg and my board is 5’10 and 35l. I guess the volume etc depends on the size of the waves you’re surfing. I feel like my board is perfect for me to be honest. As a rule of thumb they say the board should be 2 inches shorter than your normal board and a few L heavier in volume than your normal short board. At your weight I’d be looking for something around the 33L 5’9-5’10. I think the type of fins you use with the board makes the biggest difference. I’m using the fcs Toledos in large and they go great! FCS reactors sucked!
@@joshtraceysurfing i have been on a 25 year break from surfing in my teenage years. I was leaning towards the 6,0 38l board. Also hoped it might be a little easier in bigger waves around chest height. Do you think its a good idea? One other thing is i do have longer legs than the average person and naturally have a wider stance. The board i rode 25 years ago was 6,0 and had similar width and volume but was much heavier early 80s design.
@@tasmaniacfishing1134 There are so many variables to consider. How was your surfing back then? I think possibly your best bet is to borrow a few boards from your local shop and see what you groove with. I don't think I could give you an honest answer without seeing your surf etc I'm sorry. The phoenix is a great board and the width is definitely forgiving and makes it a great board to paddle.
I've always wanted to pick up surfing since a kid but that movie jaws keeps me from the water, I still love everything about surfing, still want to go but the sharks lurking is a bit
If it’s any consolation I’ve only ever seen a shark once in the water and it was a long way out to sea. Something to consider but not enough to keep my out of the waves
@Josh Tracey that does help, that's crazy uv only seen one when I used to go watch the surfers all the time seen a few from the cliffs but for the love of the sport I have ill give it a go, I have a few friends that'll help with how to go about it as a beginner. I do skate and snowboard but surfing seems like it would be other worldly when your out there on a wave. The freedom feeling I bet is worth the risk.
@@EntertainedOrNot that’s a shame. We’ll wave pools are going to pop up all over your country so hopefully then you can make a come back. Until then, I hope my videos can provide you some entertainment and keep the dream alive… even just a little bit.
Looked sharky out there early on.. 0:08 at least there was a wookie out there protecting you..:) wave 4 looked like quite a heavy end section
Yeah felt it mate, I was bricking it. Haha.
GoPro never does the size justice unfortunately
