The definitive version in my view. The album S3 sometimes gets slightly overlooked because of S4. All his albums from ‘67 to ‘70 are wonderful. I also love everything he has done since “Nite Flights” onwards. He has one of greatest voices in recorded music and is miles ahead of anyone else in terms of his songwriting. His last album “Soused” is incredible and “Climate of Hunter” is possibly my favorite.

had errors when i tried to reply directing you to the clips so have obviously done something wrong! search brel and if you go away and watch his live performance, the close up one with the tears and this is real emotion, then another search adding english lyrics will give you them; am sure i was able to find the live brel version with english lyrics but unable to now so maybe because i know french i am getting confused; love scott to bits but brel wrote this begging his lover to stay hence tears
this song is probably not the best to listen to when you eventually break up with someone maybe even suicidal tendencies maybe brought to the surface ?
you really must listen to the original lyrics by Brel, much more intense, in french, basically do not leave me and the lyrics are really him begging her not to leave, love this but the translation has very little resemblance to the original

Scott didnt come from a poor family, I don't know where you got that info. His parents were German & very well to do. Scott was singing & recording records when he was just 10 or 12 yrs old. I know thus b coz I have the singles he made wth his little boy voice. He was also a child actor & its how he met fellow Walker Bro John Maus, they were in sit-com on tv as brothers in the 1950's Gary Leeds was also a child actor & the guys knew each other for yrs. They chose the name Walker Brothers because they all drank Johnny Walker scotch whisky.
