The Summer of 1980. This song and Olivia Newton John's " Magic" set tone for that Summer. I was 9 going to the 4th grade and fascinated with anything New York City.
I remember seeing this video on HBO they had a show called juke box video I believe this was from 80' 81' great song, great video. She is so pretty terrific voice.
The opening to this song is so amazing. So dramatic. I can't explain. You definitely know it's the opening strains to this song when you hear it at a supermarket or bank.
This brings back memories of the early days of MTV, when it really was "all music, all the time". I saw this one before "Bette Davis Eyes" came out, and I loved it. Great, goofy fun.
al fin supe como se llamaba este tema despues de buscar bastante y como se iba a olvidar pero que video creo que el otro protagonista es un actor que cancionsota por dios que temazo
It's weird to see the video to a song that you know well from way back in 1980 & see how it has a completely different image created for it than how you imagine it.
I think this was the very first music video to be on TV. More of a publicity stunt to get her some radio play time. She was not taken seriously at first. After this she took off at the station I worked at.
Herman Schwartz , I heard the song on the radio first, then saw this video. Made me love the song even more. I didn't know it was a remake at the time. Funny video, they didn't play it enough for me. Glad this was posted, though blurry.
We can really go back further than that a far as music videos. Jazz musicians more or less had the first music videos, i.e, Louis Armstrong. I do miss the 70's and 80's a time before MTV, where if you were in the US there was Night Flight and Pop Clips. Pop Clips being the first show dedicated to just music videos. The owners of Nicolodeon, at that time Time Warner, wanted to buy the name and the whole thing from Micheal Nesmith, instead they renamed it and added a show or two and thus came MTV.
Kim and her single fell on it's rear so they made this film clip (they weren't called videos then) to hopefully aire on late night TV for filler. The fans went nuts and wanted more. Rest is history.

great to see this... for the first time - shame 240 is the best quality ... but then there's countless videos lost forever.
Happy Birthday, dear Kim. I wish you simply the best! Greetings from São Paulo, Brazil.
I miss the 80's

Chibuzo Nwachuku Of course not. I stopped following MTV and VH-1 years ago. There are other sources for music vids on TeeVee.

Hilarious cover of Smokey Robinson's classic: Kim does it justice. 31 years later, I had not ever seen this video classic cover.

This video is hilarious!! Pre-MTV Video? She is so cute! And that husky voice is so sultry...
MTV premiered August 1, 1981, so yes this is a pre-MTV video.

Lol,this is shades of Mel Brooks and Carol Burnett!
I bet it was really hard for her to keep a straight face through this lol! They probably had to stop film due to everyone laughing more than once!
un verdadero clasico del rock de esos que no se escuchan nunca
Where do you were, when this music played ? in 1980 ?

When I heard this on radio, I thought it was a black woman singing.
