yeah, they're gonna go mainstream very soon, Deperate Housewives, Letterman, radio, ads for Elephant Shell everywhere. I even saw it selling in the airport along with only 50 other CD's (various genres) so they are getting mainstream. I hope their music is still going to rock though!
it's not ridiculously out of the ordinary for a bassist to be a lead vocalist. Sting from the Police and Lemmy from Motorhead are two well know examples
@Ra9806 It seems he plugs straight into his SVT without effects. He probably turns up the gain a lot to get that drive. And he definitely turns down the bass knob a bit too. Can't tell what cab he's using but its a 4x10 obviously which helps with the high end grind sound
i think we should take a lot of reflection on the strokes in this case...tokyo's music is timeless and such is the strokes. i say in ten years if we remember the strokes we can remember the sunburst of bands that were influenced by them and up the top will be tpc
I like how they show the one guy @ 2:00 is surrounded by so many large keyboards while the actual one being played is the little Micron! GO MICRON! :) Nice track!
@Ra9806 I couldn't really say but I've heard that as the pickups get older they tend to get warmer and loose some of that high end. I prefer a brighter crisper sound. Good equipment goes a long way.
@Ra9806 I have an early 80s P bass and that is pretty much how it sounds plugged straight in with the tone control turned all the way up. His sound also has to do with the SVT head and SWR cab. You can get very close with any decent 410 cab and a tube head. Just bring the gain up till you get that natural tube compression and fuzz. No effects necessary.
Just feel like I'm cheated for my money. I mean I just had to pay £10 for their 8 tracks (yes I bought 'A Lesson In Crime' in the end), compared to The Pigeon Detectives 'Wait For Me', 12 tracks (the average for an album) for only £7.95... HAVE THAT!!!
well different people have different tastes in music. i love this song and in my opinion it is really catchy. otherwise i wouldn't have had "a lesson in crime" playing in my car for a few weeks straight, especially nature of the experiment!
@Patrick Miller this is when they first started so this is really bad compared to how good they've gotten especially Dave. Obviously he's nervous here, but still great.
I don't believe in buying E.P's or B-Sides so till they get an album together, I'm not buying nothing BUT... when they do, trust me, I'll be first to buy it!
I went to high school with them. They were like the house band at talent shows.
The tones on every instrument are out of this world
That performance was so good that Letterman shit his pants. That's why he didn't get up to shake their hands at the end.
It's always fun knowing Dave lettermans such a big fan of these guys hahahaha
his bass sounds so nice in this :oooo
Ya’ll said u fucked up on letterman haha but i disagree 🔥 came here cuz that lyric randomly came to my head and i decided to finally look it up
its a very distinctive sound theyve got, i like it
you are absolutely right..music is to be listened by those who enjoy it
his voice is truly great and has such a particular style that is amazing
I love how the letterman band all start playing along on their tamborines :D
i love it
De mis presentaciones favoritas.
It's weird, I watched the video of them on letterman performing wait up. They have progressed so much. Still, always great and ALWAYS will be.

I crap a pantload near quarterly watching this!! While they rock, I’m betting Paul being Canadian himself made for the bands perfect participation (:
Where is THE tessellate performance from 2008???
Saw them on that tour. AMAZING! Hadn't heard of them before seein 'em live...and they had me digging their sound from the beginning. Killer show!
awesome how everyone was using tambourines with TPC at the end. lovely.
2022 still playing rugby 08 any1?
they're so amazing, i love TPC
I saw them in the Opera House May 3rd. It was an amazing show.
I live just outside Newmarket. I saw them play at The White Rabbit and there were only 50 people there, it was awesome.
They KILLED this!
Phil Lynott played bass and sang
so does Jamie T, Mark Hoppus, and Joseph Mount from Metronomy occasionally does (trick or treatz)
it's not ridiculously out of the ordinary for a bassist to be a lead vocalist. Sting from the Police and Lemmy from Motorhead are two well know examples
wow, what a wonderful person you are
ahhhh, i can't stop watch'n this.
tomorrow night, seeing them live :)

@SuperMaximo93 I believe the cab is an older SWR Goliath III.
And thats what makes a great band... I rarely see that nowadays though.
I live and work in Newmarket Ontario.... Great band
💖🇵🇭✌️🤘👏👍
i hope so because they rock
Badassery.
I think it was pretty cool how the Letterman show band was doing their part. :D
what?? i missed this episode?!! well anyway, they were great at lupos last week...
the drummer is super awesome.
David Letterman always brings the great bands on his show
@drumboyrossinator Newmarket to be exact....which is near Toronto, but is, in fact, not Toronto.
Big gig for the lads

the outro was tight.
haha, i was just trying to explain that the song's not about exposing the gov't (youtube messes up how the comments are displayed sooo badly).
well different people have different tastes in music. i love this song and in my opinion it is really catchy. otherwise i wouldn't have had "a lesson in crime" playing in my car for a few weeks straight, especially nature of the experiment!
Thats the EXACT outfit Dave wore at the Saturday show. Whoa.
@imonster242DRohrer44 so true man! I remember seeing them lives when they were still that little band from Newmarket, and now look at them!
yay, university of toronto represent! i knew that crest on the guitarists' t-shirt looked familiar...
That's sick, man.
They're from Newmarket, Ontario.
And they're a great band.....
As we can see.
the pianis is really cool the way he plays
wonderful.
the Paul Schaeffer band rocked the tambourines pretty sweetly.
Верните мой 2008!!!
wow. one of the few times i've hard a band sound good on Letterman

Yeah, there are a LOT of good bands that are either in high school or just out of it. That's how everyone starts :)
TPC are so good. I wish I had an Alesis like that.

the drums are cool
That was magnificent.
well they were mention twice in rolling stones, so thats a good start...I hope the best for them
They are Canadian, they're from Toronto
Dam, its been 5 years since i was first saw this?
1ume and its been five year since your comment
I have the same question and i dont know what does Sting has to do with this question
yah man i was born there in 85 when the population was what? 2000 people
Why didn't Dave get up and go shake their hands at the end?
@Patrick Miller this is when they first started so this is really bad compared to how good they've gotten especially Dave. Obviously he's nervous here, but still great.
When did they fuck up re: Ready to win?
they rock! dont bother posting negative comments OVER RULED !
Yeah!
pretty good
@nazi713 Thats what I find peculiar about this band, the fact that the lead singer is also the bass player!!
Was that sarcasm, can't quite tell through the internet now can I?
why did they remove tesselete on letterman from youtube
I don't believe in buying E.P's or B-Sides so till they get an album together, I'm not buying nothing BUT... when they do, trust me, I'll be first to buy it!
FUCKING AWESOME!
@indierocker1000
The lead singer is my neighbour!
