I hope this isn’t a controversial thing to say, but he seems to bring such a positive perspective to the gay culture, on top of his general talent. SNL has never had anything like that before!
@@vjreimedia , yes I am. I have watched SNL for years and years. Bowen's the type of character actor/comedian they like and they'll keep him for a while yet; even if some viewers don't like him... Look at Leslie Jones. She stayed for years and yer a lot of people didn't like her "angry black woman" character that she played all the time. That was Leslie's stand up so I wasn't surprised that was all she did but there were always comments from people who loved her. Pete's in that same boat. A lot of people hate Pete but he has solid fans and Lorne Michaels and the head writers Colin and Che like him so Pete isn't going anywhere until he's ready to leave.
Bowen could play a shopping bag caught in a gentle breeze and make that hilarious. P.S. I love that they can both make commentary on the gay experience, like being forcefully outed & the consequences of that, while also making fun of how people like Elon Musk built their names off the backs of other people's hard work & ingenuity, yet take all the credit and most of the reward.
Ok I don’t usually like characters on weekend update but this guy’s got me in stitches. He’s still relatively new but he has found his voice and he can hold his own playing against seasoned cast members. Good for him!

Okay but they were in situations where one drowned in a chocolate river only to be pumped up a small pipe and sent to a room where they will be made into chocolate bars, one chewed gum that filled their entire body with blueberry juice to the point of explosion, one was sent down a garbage chute into the factory's incinerator, and one's particles were torn about and rearranged into a television set and then stretched about in a taffy puller.
My friends and I LOVED this part, as a transgender person with a gay friend, we LOVE Bowen Yang! The Iceberg was also another "Greatest Hits" as well, thank you for being accepting, inclusive and downright hilarious and still bringing us the news (Probably the best news we watch all day!) We LIVE for SNL 😃🤩 EDIT: I was outed on social media by a fellow LGBTQ+ support group member, and my gay friend was outed by his sister at a Christmas party, so we can totally relate to this skit.

Not really. The now established SNL policy is not to make someone a full time cast member until they've proven themselves as featured players for two seasons.
This was HILARIOUS! I love that Bowen Yang utilizes his platform to mock the tyranny of oppressive cultural norms with such acerbic wit. This was no exception. I just wish he could have gotten in a reference to Kellogg's and John Deere current strikes before he was cut off. And it would have been a perfect setup to throw a little shade at Amazon. Hopefully, another time soon. Bowen, you ROCK! 👏👏👏❤
I don't even know what to do with Bowen. He's got his own little corner of the comedy world and it glows hot in a way no one else's does. Even his gay comedy hits different. And his timing is so good that right when you think you're going to get over the last one, the next one's on you.
