I've been a BRD main since ARR. I fully agree that the addition of apex arrow was a huge Meh. To add a full new gage to the job just for a line aoe was pretty lame. It also doesn't fit in the rotation.
I dont get why Bard gets a 1% boost of stuff or gives that to allies. That almost nothing. Better to get a 10% or 15%. 1% is like trolling to me. The Devs should have upped that number by now. At least 15% in Endwalk.
I play bard, my friend plays mch (i never have) and i keep party effects off and never realized how cool mch's abilities actually look 0_0 to me it looks like youre just waving around a pistol. never knew there were mechs and flamethrowers and shit, hot damn

@@Zero8880 We will be mostly getting chainsaw in the next expansion it’s literally mandatory now especially after the rework, and also mch needs more damage so there’s another reason for them to add it ;)
Same, I love dancer but my brain goes to sleep when I use it. It's fun and pretty. Switched to mch and after getting it to 60 it became a lot of fun, though I'll admit the early leveling sucked. It just looks and feels so cool and I like all the management.
@@ghettosagal yeah, low level bard and machinist is really, really boring. More so than other classes cause ya don't even have a barebones rotation. It's spam one or two buttons.
Haven’t tried Machinist yet but I abandoned my long time Bard main for Dancer with the release of Shadowbringers and never looked back...I really like this comparison series and looking forward to seeing the others!
Well, tbh it shouldnt count as a caster anymore. With dwt instacast ruin 3s, instacast egi assaults, ruin 4 and phoenix being instacast it might as well be classified as a ranged physical. Ive been playing smn since 4.4 and now in 5.11 i actually cast ruin 3 and miasma 2 like maybe 7 times during the fight tops, cause there almost always are ogcds to weave
@@ridleyroid9060 It still does magic dmg so it could never be a ranged physical, not to mention bard and machinast had cast times in HW yet weren't considered casters
I’m so glad I picked bard back up. I only played it briefly during 2.x and then kinda forgot all about it. I recently got back to it a couple months ago and it quickly became probably the most fun I’ve ever had with a job in the endigte game. RDM is still my main, I still love SMN, DNC, and MNK, but dang. Bard is just way too good. It always feels like I’m doing something different, I love cycling between three stances at all times because it keeps things fresh. My only complaints with the job are 1. when I actually have TOO many Mage’s Ballad procs, I feel like I’m wasting them if I have to squeeze in time to keep my DOTs up or use Shadowbite or something, and 2. Army’s Paeon doesn’t feel quite impactful enough to me. I need a bit bigger of a haste buff because right now it almost doesn’t feel like it’s doing anything at all. That said, I do like how it’s the passive stance, versus how active Ballad and Minuet are. Whenever I’m back in Paeon, I know I have time to do upkeep and rest for half a minute.
As a bard main, there's really only 2 things I would want to see that would really put the job into a perfect position: 1. An ability that lets you spread your dots to a few more targets. A Bard's AoE really shines when you have a mob, put your dots on like 2-3 enemies in the group, and then pop mages ballad. You will essentially do nothing but constantly hit quick knock and rain of death as quickly as humanly possible because you're constantly proc-ing. It could potentially make the job super OP though so it would have to have a cooldown of some sorts. 2. Get rid of garbage cone quick knock (which doesnt even look cool) and give us back wide volley.
As someone who likes summoner i do understand this. Bane is the best weapon summoner has for mobs. Tri disaster into bane and spam Garuda egi aoes and outburst and pain flare and nobody can out DPS you cause nobody else both has two DoTs and can spread them immediately to every surrounding enemy at once
Big thing for Mch's reassemble, you want to use it for drill pretty much always. It's because the cooldown has much better synergy with drill than it does with air anchor, so while it will be up for a tiny bit before you launch drill again, it won't be up nearly as long trying to go between the two of them. If your rotation becomes jank and everything is a mess it's fine for air anchor, but it's better to have it used for drill always otherwise. A note on the queen as well is that she will match whatever damage buffs you have and checks for them every auto-attack, so she doesn't snapshot buffs and carry them all the way through her cycle like a dot does. Wildfire also doesn't benefit from any dh/crit benefits either, which is a bit sad since stuff like technical finish can still crit dh. Agreed that Mch needs a damage boost. When played optimally, you should be pulling maybe not exactly the same as, but should be pretty damn close to Samurai/Black Mage if it's going to be the no-utility ranged dps. It'd be nice in the next expansion to see a little more interaction with the queen herself (at least to a level like telling Bahamut to use the attack you want him to) and some better aoe tools.
I think his point was more that drill and air anchor have the same potency, so if you have it up and you forgot to use it on drill, it's still the same potency increase to use it on air anchor.
It's funny how I changed from healer to a dps cause I hated how my dps heavily depends on other peoples performances and I chose a dancer, who does benefit a lot from his dancer partner XDDD
I love MCH gameplay and really want to see them do more damage. A nice addition to their skill set would be to have flamethrower also generate 10 battery gauge for every 3 seconds channeled. That way it would still be a nice coffee button but also give you an aoe way to generate battery gauge.
Fire move generating battery and not heat? Sounds stupid. Battery gage is useless in itself since it just controls your Turret, which in the past was summonable at will unless your Overcharged them, while in 6.0 is restricted and only way of generating it is the same way to generate heat. I don’t think battery gage needs to exist frankly
Think my favorite part of being a Dancer main is when you're stuck with another Dancer so both of you go out of your way to screw over the other. Love Dancer but I will always personally step on another Dancer as we fight over the Samurai in the party
@@kokayinewsome9308 I'm pretty sure, couldn't see why a Dancer couldn't boost the attack or healing of a healer when you could dance partner a Red Mage
@@kokayinewsome9308 I do, I usually play with a healer so if we are in a party with another Dancer then I'll dance partner a healer, I just like screwing over other Dancers because that's what they usually do to me too, been playing Dancer far too long to not have dancer partnered a bit of everything at this point
I had no interest in dancer. It's for people who like cat girls and bunny folks. Let'em be cute, sure. I'll /wave at them and move on. Then curiosity got the better of me. Hello, I too am now a DNC main. @-@ HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!?
great video. While I don't agree with the "winner" you did an amazing job breaking down the three classes to help others decide which one might be best for them. Also I agree Dancer is best boy.
Having played Machinist up to level 58 i can say its very satisfying to play especially at lower level dungeons Bard probably has way better AoE but it just feels good hitting Reassemble with Spread Shot, Auto Crossbow and Ricochet it also feels like no action is wasted trying to push your DPS higher and higher.. Bard i haven't played in awhile looks fun as hell Dancer maybe i'm the only one i got most of everything other Job down at least up to level 50 maybe i just haven't given it enough time i find Dancer confusing from what i could tell it has a good heal, awesome dash and great utility..
I love the way SE changed up MCH for Shadowbringers. I played it enough in Heavensward and Stormblood to level it up to max, but never touched it after that. Now, it’s my favorite class for raid content.
They removed 25% of its skills and simplified its rotation and added a gage handicap for turrets. Wouldn’t call that improved. Dps aside it’s the “RDM” of the ranged jobs
I used to be a BRD main until I decided to switch entirely to MCH. I absolutely love MCH especially since I completed this Raid tier with it its become real special to me. I've decided to possibly switch back to BRD but holy shit MCH is so intense and fast that I'm not used to the slowness of BRD (and don't get me started on DNC lol)
Why the fuck should you care what this hack has to say about classes when it comes to what's viable? the devs have literally designed the game to be content accessible by any group makeup as long as role slots are filled properly.
Machinist is pretty damn good for burst damage. I semi frequently see Machinists near the top on dps, due to how strong their burst damage is. If a boss frequently has invuln phases, or mechs that make them hard to consistently hit. MCH really shines, by being able to burst tf out of the boss when it can
Am I missing something here? I don't see any issue with not having a battery generating AOE on machinist considering it doesn't have an AOE batter spender. So unless they bring back bishop turret, I don't see a reason to build it up....
@@yamiookami I'm reading the tooltips, and unless I'm misreading them, neither the rook turret nor the automaton queen have an AOE explosion finisher as both actions have a radius of 0 on their effect. So my point still stands that if you're going to get an AOE battery skill, better if you also get a batter spender to go along with it, otherwise you're in the same boat as monk was for two years where they could gain chakras on AOE skills, but couldn't spend them on an AOE move.
The damage I've been producing with mch since the 5.1 changes have yielded great results I see myself getting close to monk's drgs and BLMs the only thing I don't like is that I HAD to get a VPN to be optimal which you state with it not being friendly for high ping players. But I'll be a MCH main until the end ots just way to fun especially once you're in the meat of the rotation
The meat? You do a 1-2-3 then a 1-1-1-1-1 for Overheat, every 2 minutes add a wildfire. With 2 OGCDs not exactly a complex rotation compared to literally every other job.
Your criticism regarding machnist not having an AOE method of generating battery gauge.... my though is that considering it also doesn't have an AOE method of spending battery, this is fine, and gives them a place to expand the job in 6.0
Anthony Delfino a job should never be lacking for the sake of having something to add in future expansions. Esspecially not when its a reworked job that lost a lot of utility and actions. Is it just meant to suck for 2 years but "itll be bettet next expac"?
@@Jacodaify That's not what I'm saying. My point is more the question of what's the point of having an AOE skill that builds up the battery gauge when there's no way of spending it? I say this as someone who mained monk last expansion. It was possible to build chakra stacks on AOE skills last expansion, but there was nothing to spend them on. Then this expansion, monk got something to use those chakra stacks on. So if it were implemented now that Spread Shot just gave battery, then the complaint would be there's nothing to spend it on. Better to get both pieces at the same time than to just get the resource but nothing to spend it on.
@@Jacodaify i really don't know why they chose to derp ranged physical dps to add dancer, but its a thing. i was one of the few people that liked the old machinist, the new one feels like a lot of button mashing with minimal results.
@@Gee-xb7rt Its just grossly anti-latency. For a game that claims to run with no distinguishable differences in performance up to 200ms they have drifted very far indeed from that philosopy in my opinion.
I really enjoy dancer. It’s my main in final fantasy 11 also. I would love to see something like drain samba make its way to 14 or more healing options, but over all I’m pretty happy with it.
I would put another "Con" of dancer that although it's "ranged physical DPS" many of its skills, including its best 2 require you to be close to the target. When trying to dodge mechanics safely from a distance, like bard and machinist, this is a drawback, but when you see that 100+k crit pop from technical finish its worth it.
That's not a con; that's what you're supposed to be doing regardless... Unless a mechanic is specially asking you to be close you're not supposed to be far away from the boss.
@@lynameep223 I like having the freedom to be where I want, and still attack. MCH and BRD let you do this, DNC does not. That's all I was trying to say.
As a Bard main 5.1 felt amazing cause Bard was, well a Bard again. Playing songs to buff allies is what we do. And losing a practically all of that in 5.0 just made the job feel hollow compared to what it was. So happy we have our song buffs back. And the different buffs to give some variety is just icing on the cake
I main BRD and can totally get what you mean about the latency I have some problems myself sometimes but I think that with enough practice, mistakes through latency can become less common Of course they are still there and people with low ping learn to avoid it faster but from personal experience, I wouldn't say it's unplayable at high ping Really enjoyed this video, very interesting to see what's coming for MCH since I need to level that class someday
Love your videos and have done well in all sorts of new things to me in FFXIV because of your clear, entertaining explanations of mechanics and such! Just want to give a wee pointer: The "au" in "Gauss" is pronounced like the "ow" in "cow". Because German!
It’s a dialect thing. Most Americans, myself included, pronounce the “au” in “Gauss” like the “aw” in “claw” because it sounds better to our ears. It’s not the authentic pronunciation, I will acknowledge that, but it is a generally accepted one. For an easy example, there is a character in Warframe named Gauss. If you watch his profile trailer on RUclips, you’ll hear his name repeatedly and consistently pronounced this way (by a Canadian, no less).
Yeah I definitely agree with your opinion on the machinist. I don't do any serious content but even I can tell the damage just doesn't make up for the lack of support. I think what'd be cool is if Machinist could get a bunch of mitigation support skills so it'll be like a mini scholar. Like weak shields that come from utility grenades or an ability that lets our queen or rook deploy a mitigation bubble. I still want the DPS boost though. Maybe they could let us have a permanent drone pet that sticks around auto attacking and goes nuts when we hit our hyper charge phases? Or give us our own version of Bahamut by having us work on some sort of resource to summon a Megazord or some shit. But really, I just want my screen filled with enough explosions and robots to make BLM and SMN look bad lol.
"It's my coffee button!" I have legitimately lived by this phrase for nearly a decade in every game I've played. If I CAN find a "do-it-all" command, that's exactly what said command is for. Haha
I’m very glad to see the versus videos return. Of course, I kind of don’t want to see casters next because they are OBVIOUS in their order with SMN now arguably being the best DPS in the game, BLM still exploding ass and taking names with the best of all DPS, and RDM just kind of existing in its same boring state.
Ps4 here... Welp I'm a lvl 49 MCH on this 10hr break. I've played RDM, DNC, SAM, and BRD and I've had so much fun with them all. But tha sounds of tha MCH... AWESOME! The rotation is Ez but it's adding tha other gadgets ect... Is where u want to be fast, and so far I'm on point lol.
I feel Bard was lacking most when ShB came out if you're a continuing player. The new abilities from 71-80 didn't feel as impactful as other classes. This is probably a different topic then what this video is focusing on, but as someone who looks forward to new changes/abilities when a expansion come out, Bard was very much lacking. Your rotation and ability priority barely changed from being level 70 to 80. This is obviously not an issue for new players and encourage to try bard out.
For me, it was the opposite. I did not like the transition going from Bow Mage in HW (which I did like) to the Stormblood Bard (which I was very meh about). However, the traits going in Shadowbringers for all the procs and the AoE Sidewinder (and really, just AoE in general for Bards this time compared to SB) really made me love the job a whole lot more compared to SB. Bard and MCH were my mains going into HW, then in SB, I quit Bard for MCH because I didn't really like SB. Now in ShB, I actually enjoy Bard, might even say more than MCH even though MCH had a complete rework.
@asaeampan No, they don't. But, to me it only made me not like both classes more. Some classes change TOO much though (AST, for Example. It was my favorite class but now I absolutely HATE it. It's not what it was, I don't care what anyone says the SHB changes killed the fun for me.) Mch was a great example of changing in a great way. It's all about personal preference though, no reason to call me "You people"
Keep in mind that Stormblood Bard is considered the job's best iteration ever, and was one of the, and I quote, "best balanced jobs in the game" ~MrHappy. Against this background, changing it too much would have caused a riot, and honestly, Bard didn't need that much of a change.
Nailed pretty much how I feel about these jobs this expac. Apex Arrow actually feels sorta bad since it often caps during Army's Paeon and sometimes Mage's Ballad making you feel like you lost out on some damage since holding it for buffs would be nicer. Technically you can hold it for one GCD if you're right about to enter into Wanderer's/Raging Strikes but otherwise it's a straight loss to hold. Just from a QoL position I'd like to see it cap to 125-ish but only use 100 maximum on button hit.
Bard aoes is my main problem in order to maximize your song potency such as mage ballad you need to place dots on multiple enemy's for more procs this allows for rapid fire rain of death or pitch perfect while your doing this straight shot procs along with rain of death while using iron jaws to maintain dots all of this going on at once makes it that you cant even use quick nock as your too busy doing everything else it feels clunky as hell
Just dot 1, Quick knock has a chance to reset Rain, and shadowbite only needs 1 enemy dotted to do max potency on every enemy. Sure you can dot every enemy, but theres no need to if theres like 10 adds.
@@Ahappysandwich i think rng is boosted for bard because i can usually get around 20 rains every pull without mages. Idk just feels like the percent they give you is a lie. I think if they boosted it though it might be too strong, cause you could quick knock a boss and then bloodletter it over and over. Im not sure how to improve the aoe, cause i also think a "bane" type move on bard would be too much
Honestly imo different mains are going to like different things. For my part(healer main) dancer is my favorite bc they can dance around allies during heavy healing mechanics, increasing the healing receive by those allies. Making my job a bit easier. Although, I could understand tank mains would prefer blm bc they are the best for AoE damage making big pulls much easier. Bards tho ? Idk I haven't cared about them since mage ballad was reworked.
I’m gonna say that bard and dancer are fundamentally different in function than machinist. Dancer and Bard are support type DPS while Machinist serves only as a bigger damage output ranged DPS with no support skills.
It's a bit of a bummer, as someone new to the game i love the whole fantasy of the machinist, but just playing a super straight foward only care about yourself dps isn't reall getting me excited
I feel like they absolutely nailed ranged phys in ShB. I would happily play any of them but MCH and DNC are both so goddamn fun. I reeeeeally hope MCH gets a cool relic this xpac.
I hope SMN and BRD get major reworks in 6.0. I want to love BRD but the play style feels clunky, and I think it could be stronger thematically. They need to lean in more to the musical origins of the job IMO
The problem with Apex Arrow for me is that it feels “light”. It doesn’t feel, look or sound impactful nor powerful. I hope they do more with the Voice Gauge but as of now Apex Arrow is underwhelming in terms of execution for me.
can agree with dnc being occasionally boring if your proc luck is bad but i still love the class and i kinda have competitions with the other dps in the group if i can keep up with them while also stopping my rotation every 30 sec to shake my tail feathers as it were
I main Drg hitting around 15k and mch are beating me after this latest patch at 15.2k they still need some kind of utility but it's a huge jump from patch 5.0 where they were hitting 12.5k.
Don't listen to Gtsgunner. He only took a snapshot of Ultimates. Look at the DPS charts for all the others @ FFLogs and MCH beats Bard and Dancers (which is what this vid was about).
@@AproposDare No and yes, video was about comparing them, the DPS part was overall tho.. MrHappy said MCH has the highest dps of them, but not high enough to sacrifice all utility given. Imagine you guys you actually listen to what people say. What a world we live in.
Bard is fun early game but it became clear about level 40 that it's greatest benefit to FF14 is in Performance. It's very very easy to play, more reactionary than rotation locked. On the other hand is Machinist, which is incredibly rotation locked. Very robotic gameplay imo. Dancer I've not even touched yet, looks fun, looks ridiculous with spell effects turned off but defo looks fun to play.
I would say a hidden con in bard is it feels pretty dependent on the entire group’s skill level DPS-wise. That said, I think all of the ranged physical classes are well-balanced.
ghettosagal I thought this too but later compared it to other DPS and MCH (much like its entire kit) is very disconnected, Flamethrower is useless and doesn’t contribute at all to anything, Auto is locked behind overheat, Spread doesn’t proc anything and attributes pitiful Heat, Ricochet is fun to spam but with no AOE refueling skill for it you’ll run out and rely on its 30/30/30 timer, and Bioblaster is also just there a wide dot. Compared to DNC where everything aligns it’s almost hand-holdy, or BRD Where it’s spammy yes but it all contributes to eachother well, it is a mess of half baked ideas...much like MCH itself. Without the High DPS excuse, MCH is one of the most uninspired jobs in the game
I think the three ranged DPS are fairly balanced when compared to each other. The real problem I am having is that it seems their rDPS is too far behind the casters, especially the SMN which has decent mobility, offensive utility(devotion), and defensive utiliy(addle, raise). Since ranged DPS jobs no longer have crucial utility such as refresh, I'm not really seeing a significant merit(?) compared to having two casters.
@asaeampan Please correct me if I am missing something. As far as I understand by having a ranged DPS the party gets a flat 1% buff to their dps for the whole fight. When I checked the fflog, parties at savage had damage output around 90k~100k. Which means the 1% gain would be equvialent to 900~1000. Yet I am also seeing that SMN's rDPS is also approximately 1k ahead of the ranged. I wouldn't say that it is worthless but it seems to be far from being 'significant'.
Improvisation should buff Dancers other utility skills: 1. They need to make Curing Waltz a pulsing AoE HoT (like in pre launch ShB), then make it so Impro buffs it's potency (+ healing buff it already has) 2. Add an extra 1% or 2% dmg to Standard/Technical step if the affected person is affected by impro (makes more sense to pop it in bursts) 3. Make Shield Samba to either have 5% extra defense or 10s extra duration during impro Thoughts? ^_^
@@aldairlara5582 True. But I forgot to mention I'd actually revert the potency buffs DNC got in the last patch, in favour of more utility (ofc CD might need to be looked at), but then it doesn't sound so crazy right?
I honestly prefer Machinist over Bard and Dancer, because why use a Bow or Chakrams, when you possess ballistic/chemical weaponry. Also it's the ONLY ranged dps job I have, cause I ain't a fan of the other two, that and I'm not so worried about the lack of utility as I already have a few Jobs with utility.
I like BRD, currently it's not at 80 for me but I have a big problem with bard, I really wish it had an ability like bane for summoner that spreads the DoTs to other enemies because it is the most tedious thing spreading them to all the enemies in large pulls, if there is something I'm missing tell me because I feel like that is something that seems like a huge downside for bard that I don't hear about.
MCH needs a big damage buff, especially since SMN is out here blowing wigs back, insta-casting so much it's basically a ranged phys at this point. I don't get how the top DPS aren't BLM, SAM and MCH in that order since their whole thing is selfish DPS, "My support is my damage". Hopefully they fix it cuz on top of the ping reliance, really makes MCH unappealing when it's actually a really cool job.
machinist has minimal support, it might be better to let it go entirely. under the old system it had more support. i think they tried to redefine support around the addition of dancer, but it confused more than it helped, confusing themselves especially. dragoon has better support than machinist and its not considered support, i don't think, and they got some nice aoe skills with 5.0 too, filling in what was its weakness. i guess the takeaway is you don't really need to be overpowered, but it would be nice to have slightly bigger numbers after mastering a job, just making drill a big flat damage attack doesn't really make up for it.
Imo, i think that one way to fix MCHs ping reliancy without breaking the job is to take both of its "3-charge-ogcds" and make them single charge again, but tripling their damage and cooldown
other great thing about dnc AOE...i can still gain feathers during aoe rotation...while with mch i lose battery charge every time i dont use my single target rotation
What i like in general is as long as you proc the AOE is as viable as the single target skills. The light versions has 100 less potency, but the big ones just hit everything with a lot of dmg... did i mentioned dancing and all? :D
MCH has no Battery generating Aoe cuz turrets can’t attack multiple targets. As flaws as MCH is, It would be weird to generate a single target gage by aoe
I mained BRD through the story.. i really don't like it to me it still doesn't feel like a proper class. it feels like a ranger with ooh yeah you can sing too. even the later weapons show it off. i've only seen 3 bows so far that even have a hint of Bard in it (AKA a harp or some other instrument blended in the bow.) sure when you optimize it it can blend great but as i'm not there yet that i'm ready to optimize my playstyle. ATM i'm just maining my WHM, and leveling MCH and GNB only issue i got there is that at the start you get overwhelmed by abilities when you pick up the job and need to sort out what's what.
A little tid bit I wished I did back in Realm Reborn. I wished I changed my home Aetheryte point more often, it would've saved me so much gil at the start.
It's just weird to me they took a lot of buffs from Bard because they supposedly didn't want a DPS giving so many ally buffs...and then instantly add DNC to the game doing that same thing. It's more like they were trying to make DNC have a niche, so they gave it BRDs. MCH I love, and the rework makes it easy to pick up and play, which I also love - it's probably the easiest Job in the game, imo, and has the fewest total actions, meaning button bloat isn't a problem (though I sincerely miss the reload animation...) - and it feels good with things like Drill, but it does seem to lack an identity, since it's a physical ranged that doesn't really have any buffs for the party, yet it doesn't do SAM/BLM levels of raw damage to make it worth bringing when it lacks any utility. It's just in a weird spot where it either needs a damage boost or a utility to bring to the table...
While bard is good, it desperately needs potency buffs, as of 5.11 dancer is out dpsing bard in personal DPS and in party DPS, so if you can play both at an equal skill level then you have very little reason to bring a bard
@@Timithori wish that were true, dancer is ahead of bard on 3/4 savage fights on personal dps, and the one fight bard is ahead they are ahead by less than 100 dps. bard is currently the lowest dps job in the game
@@nazzarwrath5691 Just looked at each encounter of Eden's Gate savage and the BRD is ahead in aDPS in all of them. They fall behind on rDPS though, which is what really matters. Bards need to have their DoT abilities buffed back up and I think their songs should effect them as well.
Hey Happy. I'm coming back to the game again and I'm gonna need one if these videos for each job archetype. Thanks! I have no idea what I want to play and so much seems to have changed lol.
What hes not telling you is the curing waltz even when stacked doesnt cure enough to make a difference. The only time curing waltz saw a use was against the Thunder God during is doom attack. And even tho he did go over the amount of rng dnc has I want to say it again. You have 3 rng skills that follow 1 after the other with no way of making it better on top of that the dmg you out put is very slow. I have an 80 dnc and enjoy it but for actual content like new savages/extremes you will hurt the pt more then you're helping.
Not only ping, those with lower end pc, as in you might lose frames in some fancy effect fights, you might straight up miss the 6th GCD in your wildfire window as a machinist. Sometimes even with the low ping rotation
as good as bard is the playstyle just doesn't fit me and one of the main reasons i prefer dancer is just because of how simple it is. The more i play these classes with busy rotations the more i start to hate them.
Interesting... ranged physical is also my preference. Of 5.x I thought DNC was the most fun, but also the most effort to play well. 5.1 BRD recovers some of its losses in 5.0 so to me is the safe choice, especially if I just want to turn my brain off for content. MCH might be different than before but personally I still find it very boring. I guess I like random procs to keep me on my toes.

cant wait for the casters updated versus... with SMN's "wtf, did you test this before launch?" rework and 5.1's buff
Well, tbh it shouldnt count as a caster anymore. With dwt instacast ruin 3s, instacast egi assaults, ruin 4 and phoenix being instacast it might as well be classified as a ranged physical.
As a bard main, there's really only 2 things I would want to see that would really put the job into a perfect position:
As a fellow BRD main, I completely support your idea!
asaeampan Looks like someone is triggered. Angry much? Sounds like you need chill the fuck out and quit being an angry bitch
@asaeampan If you look up the definition of 'Try Hard', you get this lmao
asaeampan You’re a furry. Do you realize how much of a loser that makes you?
As someone who likes summoner i do understand this. Bane is the best weapon summoner has for mobs. Tri disaster into bane and spam Garuda egi aoes and outburst and pain flare and nobody can out DPS you cause nobody else both has two DoTs and can spread them immediately to every surrounding enemy at once
I started Dancer recently to take a break from my main and its SUPER fun.
great series! most fun I've had watching a ffxiv video in a minute. thank you!
I think his point was more that drill and air anchor have the same potency, so if you have it up and you forgot to use it on drill, it's still the same potency increase to use it on air anchor.
having so much fun with my MCH that I abandoned my BRD - closes thing to Boba Fett in FFXIV 😊 (MCH sporting with newest pvp set)
Or have flamethrower interact with bio blaster maybe igniting the poison.
Think my favorite part of being a Dancer main is when you're stuck with another Dancer so both of you go out of your way to screw over the other. Love Dancer but I will always personally step on another Dancer as we fight over the Samurai in the party

Hey Happy, will you make a versus for melee, caster dps and tanks for 5.25 or even 5.3?
I would put another "Con" of dancer that although it's "ranged physical DPS" many of its skills, including its best 2 require you to be close to the target. When trying to dodge mechanics safely from a distance, like bard and machinist, this is a drawback, but when you see that 100+k crit pop from technical finish its worth it.
Exactly for a ranged DPS you have to get pretty fucking close. Might as well be a goddamn melee
That's not a con; that's what you're supposed to be doing regardless...
Unless a mechanic is specially asking you to be close you're not supposed to be far away from the boss.

FFXIV: For when you want to go into epileptic shock

I agree, BRD and RDM hardly changed at all, and in all honesty bored me more than before
For me, it was the opposite. Now in ShB, I actually enjoy Bard, might even say more than MCH even though MCH had a complete rework.
they did a lot to add aoes, because bard was already aoe boss that didn't really work out in bard's favor.
Bard will play instruments while dancer is dancing lastly machinist is shooting his gun in the sky cuz’ of celebration... like in the festival
en avant has killed as many dancers to death walls and falls as elusive jump and rdm backflip this expansion :v

It mostly saves my life tbh
@@rio923100 assuming rng is consistent then yeah but to tilt rng towards my favor i need dots, i know better than to dot the entire horde
@asaeampan why not be an ass about it simultaneously?

It's like he said this in the video...
Compared to MCH bland ass Rook upgrade, consider yourself lucky you have a finisher

-Unsatisfying AoE for MCH is a great Con. I personally don't care about aoe'ing, just give me those big numbers!

@@lilyduck9695 what counts as satisfying? I personally love the mch AOEs, they make me feel like a badass.
ghettosagal I thought this too but later compared it to other DPS and MCH (much like its entire kit) is very disconnected, Flamethrower is useless and doesn’t contribute at all to anything, Auto is locked behind overheat, Spread doesn’t proc anything and attributes pitiful Heat, Ricochet is fun to spam but with no AOE refueling skill for it you’ll run out and rely on its 30/30/30 timer, and Bioblaster is also just there a wide dot.
So when are the next vs. Vidoes coming its been 3 months now.
I don't even care about the pros and cons, I just play whatever one looks the coolest (and that's MCH)
I needed this 😁
For all the downsides of MCH we /need/ more damage. FFS we're the ones using GUNS not chakrams or bows, how do we not hit harder? lol
Improvisation should buff Dancers other utility skills:
1. They need to make Curing Waltz a pulsing AoE HoT (like in pre launch ShB), then make it so Impro buffs it's potency (+ healing buff it already has)
2. Add an extra 1% or 2% dmg to Standard/Technical step if the affected person is affected by impro (makes more sense to pop it in bursts)
3. Make Shield Samba to either have 5% extra defense or 10s extra duration during impro
Thoughts? ^_^
Not sure about the last one
It would make shield Samba better than DRK missionary/Heart of Light.
@@aldairlara5582 True. But I forgot to mention I'd actually revert the potency buffs DNC got in the last patch, in favour of more utility (ofc CD might need to be looked at), but then it doesn't sound so crazy right?
I tried all 3 but stuck with MCH. It's the best class for me doing chaotic raids and trials.
I'll stick with bard thanks, the other two look way to complicated for this old timer
You had me at coffee button
Conclusion of this video: feels kinda meh~
But I find it to be quiet on point
I don't know. Seems loud to me.
other great thing about dnc AOE...i can still gain feathers during aoe rotation...while with mch i lose battery charge every time i dont use my single target rotation
How did you set your Actions bars to show just those and not the rest of the empty slots?
I mained BRD through the story.. i really don't like it to me it still doesn't feel like a proper class. it feels like a ranger with ooh yeah you can sing too. even the later weapons show it off. i've only seen 3 bows so far that even have a hint of Bard in it (AKA a harp or some other instrument blended in the bow.)
sure when you optimize it it can blend great but as i'm not there yet that i'm ready to optimize my playstyle.
ATM i'm just maining my WHM, and leveling MCH and GNB only issue i got there is that at the start you get overwhelmed by abilities when you pick up the job and need to sort out what's what.
Will I have to pick archer as my base class? For Dancer*
Okay. Will
I be able to be archer bard and dancer?
@@dylansessions5912 archer upgrades to bard. Otherwise yes you can play every class on a single character. You're never locked out of anything in ff14
A little tid bit I wished I did back in Realm Reborn. I wished I changed my home Aetheryte point more often, it would've saved me so much gil at the start.
Bard is perfect for someone with ADHD.
Can confirm 😅
I have adhd why is this?
@@aidenwildie1270 The larger number of DOTs and OGCDs is easier to deal with.
I need some physical dps content pls
Damn good video
I think Bard should get a regen song to match curing waltz
Not on personal DPS but definitely on rDPS. I think everyone in the ranged physical role needs a balance pass at this point.
Oh you are right I misread some of the logs my bad
Hey Happy. I'm coming back to the game again and I'm gonna need one if these videos for each job archetype. Thanks! I have no idea what I want to play and so much seems to have changed lol.
I love bard so much.
Dancer movement thing is debatable , think Shukuchi is better since you actually have a say where you go.
As a Bard main since ARR, I totally agree, Apex so Meh :/ When it released I was pretty disappointed. Reading other comments, I see I’m not alone
as good as bard is the playstyle just doesn't fit me and one of the main reasons i prefer dancer is just because of how simple it is. The more i play these classes with busy rotations the more i start to hate them.
Just wait until they add the rest of Edgar's Tools to MCH.
Bio Blaster - Ha! That's awesome.
Started with MCH for SHB for main due to big reworks, now I main DNC. Since i used to main melee, En Avant is a god saving skills
