Nice touch with the interview clip spliced in. Gave great context to get things started. Great review, man!
The stability on the new updates are amazing. Definitely made the racquet better than previous ones. The Phantom 100 305g is probably the most popular.
I owned most of the phantoms in the previous lines. how is the stability better when they are all just new paintjobs? until prince thickens up the beam.... these statements can't be taken seriously. Same sht.... different colour. I liked the 97P and 93P.... but their potential just being stamped on with that silly thin beam nonsense. show me a player on tour that uses 16mm thin beams..... exactly.
Great comment I own prince also but too thin the beam.... New paint job feels like is thicker but what bs f they didn't change anything....
I am ready to sell. And I'm going with head
@@ThetennisDr I ended up going with Yonex Percept 97H. Until Prince get their act together, I'll play with a racket that isn't anemic. There is thin buttery beams... and then there is the over-the-top phantoms.
@@OldSkoolLegend how do u like the percept
Don't agree with some of the comments about beam thickness. I don't like thick beams as I frame the ball with a my kick serve. Phantom 100x 305g best racket I have found since Prince Graphite 90 & 107.
More control than 107 & 305g frame is lighter & no more shoulder issues.
Hey there,
My regular racquet is the tour 100 290 and I have the new phantom 100x 290.
I get more speed with the tour and better touch but The phantom is way more stable, good serve and good for returning.
I prefer serving and hitting fast with the tour but returning with the phantom.
Also I have more Spin with the phantom, more net clearance but better backspin with the tour.
I any case, 2 hidden gems!
I also have the tour 100p and the 310 but my go to racquet is the 290.
I agree, the 290 version of the Tour is a legit fast swinging spin frame with ample power, and the 290 Phantom plays with slightly better feel but less power. I use the 290 Phantom for drilling and practice but the 290 Tour is my match play frame. What an absolute gem of a frame.
So both have big cons and big pros, not good rackets.
@@akio2730should read one more time 😅
I found nothing better
I was ranked in the "high school top 1000" and I think I was the ONLY person ranked in that list that used a Prince racket in the USA. My tennis coach was well renowned for being a coach at a public school that regularly beat private schools, all but 2 private schools in our state where in the division we were in and we won state in 2012. He had accesses to "test rackets" from every company, I was probably the only person in my division that chose to buy a prince tennis racket. I even had a chance to get the fabled willson blade at 75% off for my school but I just wasn't a fan. Instead when we won state in 2012 I used a prince 03 hybrid racket, it was the best thing I had ever played tennis with, and it just really shows in my opinion how valuable it is to have a chance to try multiple options. I tested 25 rackets in one day and I chose prince over every popular alternative. Our best singles player was ranked highly in he nation, he used a wilson blade, we swapped rackets one practice and he could not use the racket I was using at all.
Prince in my opinion really fills a void in what is now called the "baseline hybrid" playstyle which I used that year to help my team win a state championship, you play the baseline, but at the first sign of weakness at the time of people that only played baseline you strike.
IN Japan they all of a beautiful blue cosmetic like the the Ultra pro. They also have a 97 original graphite with the crossbar and 16x19 pattern. Wish we got those.
This just proves that prince Japan is treated far better than their american market . No wonder that Prince has lost its market here .
@@derekpappas1556 Afaik, Prince Japan is owned and run by another company than the "international" Prince, available in Europe and the US.
@@jeanb.3493 And there lays part of the problem . There is no proper structure .
I just looked at the Prince jp site. The blue paint job looks so good, I like it so much more than the new green.
@@marcgabor9690 The green def is not appropriate , in the amount they put on these phantoms .
The gravity comparison makes sense. I liked the 100P better than the 100x’s like I liked the Gravity MP better than the pro. I just got my second 100P.
Thanks for reviewing these racquets. I saw in on your string bench and was wondering the brand. Thanks…
Great video, as always. I am coming from the old Textreme Tour 100P (18x20). New Phantom rackets are not currently offered in Canada. Grr. I am an advanced player, I hit a fairly flat lower launch angle ball, mostly on hard courts, hybrid setup, play both singles and doubles. Trying to figure out which one might be a better fit for me: 100p? or 100x?
@Tennisnerd how would you compare the Tour 100p to the Phantom 100x 305?
My racket of choice until these days is the prince 100p. Very happy to see prince continuing making great rackets
I almost both it JUST for the color. It's gorgeous. I ended up buying on sale the Tecnifibre TF 40 315g.
Doesn't look like retailers are selling Prince in Canada, even the Prince Canada distributor does not carry much inventory. The Prince Tennis website even shows old models. Not sure how this is sold anywhere other than Tennis Warehouse.
Hi is big different between old Prince phathon 93P 14x18 and these new ones? i consider about buying new racket but I'm wonder if is it worthed
Jonas are the 100X filled with silicone in the handle? Wondering if going for the 290g adding silicone to the handle would be better than the 305g.. for a prostocky feel if you know what I mean 😅
Switch from vcore 95 to this thanks to tw-usa huge prince sale(30% off!!). Never feel any discomfort on my arm anymore(even after hitting off-center shots). Way more easier to maneuver and hitting those on-the-rise shots is like dream.
When the phantom 100p is possible to buy in Europe?
Is it good for one handed backhand
WHY is there no Prince Phantom 100X 18x20 in TW - Australia outlet ?? Only 16x18 in 305g?
Great review. I'm a big fan of the Phantom line. In the interview with Tim Puttock, he talks about how this third gen phantom was an attempt to get back some of the buttery feel that made the 1st gen so great by using Zylon (which is softer?). In other words I got the impression that 1st gen was buttery but too flexible, 2nd gen improved stability and power at expense of some feel and the 3rd gen is goldilocks in the middle. But your review suggests that 2nd gen is more flexible/less stable than this new release. Can you clarify please? I'm currently playing with the 2nd gen 100x and I love it. Also have and love the original 100x, 18x20, and 93 18x20, and love them all.
I was wondering the exact same thing. I'm also a user of the 2nd gen 100x. Is the one with Zylon more or less flexible than the one with Twaron?
The 1st gen (Phantom Pro) feels more soft/buttery to me than the 2nd gen, but I attributed this in part to its thinner beam, not just the layup.
Love the Phantom line, played the 93P in both patterns and the 100P when I wanted something less demanding. But the very round head shape associated with 100 sq.in. made it too cumbersome on my OHBH, so I transitioned out of it. Same issue when I tried the Gravity. If feel these frames lend themselves better to two handed backhand.
Interesting, I have a OHB, prefer 98 and under, and find most 100" rackets feel too cumbersome. the thin beams on the phantom 100s feels very natural and easy to swing.
Great review! But the main question is should I switch from the previous phantom 100x 16*18? Is the feel still good?
I like this better, the feel is great
@@Tennisnerd thanks for your reply and your content! Keep it up! 💪
Switch from vcore 95 to this thanks to tw-usa huge prince sale(30% off!!). Never feel any discomfort on my arm anymore(even after hitting off-center shots).
Hi. Can you give me advice? I want to buy phantom but someone said that the phantom series can't be included in the pro rackets category! It's the rackets for amateurs and you can't go with it in the tournaments. This someone plays at the level of 5 NTRP. I played phantom 100x 2020 and I loved it so I wanted to buy phantom 2024 but now I doubt it. My level is around 3-3.5 NTRP for now and I want to compete on the tournaments want to progress and advance. Maybe he's right and would be better to buy blade v9? I'm an all court player and need universal soldier in my arm😁and as far as I understand bladev9 is the one so is phantom cause their specs almost identical 😁Help me please 😁
Owned a lot of the phantoms in the previous line and tested the heck out of them because i almost loved them..... ALMOST..... but until the beams thicken up... the stability on these frames are a joke. I dont care what BS material they put in at whatever BS location. It wont do anything unless the beam thickens up. I'd love to see 93P and 97P with thicker beams so they can be even considered in the same realm as Pro staffs and the likes. but right now.... cant take these rackets seriously anymore... i tried for years.... but at a high level of tennis it just cant be stable enough.
I love my 97p, but I always switch back to my Vcore 95 when I play league. There is huge diminishing returns when you swing very fast with the 97p, making it a bit stiffer would be great. Not asking for a stiff racket, just a slightly more usable at serious play.
97p player here too. I agree. I'd like some more stability and stifness with this frame. I ended up buying a Phantom Graphite 97 300 (modified) from Japan that has now become my main use racket.
If your 97p is currently on full poly strings, try a full bed of multifilament string next time around
Which is better in stock form? 100X 305 or 100P? Is the 100X really spinnier with 8 mains in the throat?
the 100P probably
Used Tnerd10 and ordered one.😃
Thanks for the recommendation again. Strung it with Tourbite Diamond Rough at 22kg and it played better than everything I have played before. Didn‘t serve yet though.
Where can I buy this and I need a 95 head size!
Prince phantom 100p textreme tour is my raquet, ais a great stick and i probably will tray this new version
any chance you could do a review of the 305 weighted up to the spec of the 320 vs the 320?
perfect, i'm waiting for an alternative with Wilson Prostaff 6.1 90 like this Prince Phantom to come back
Is the 100p a bit like the prince Diablo MP?
Nice review..rly love the prince rackets..kinda meh that they dont have any proplayers and their marketing is buh in europe..do you know anything about a ripstick update🤔?
you should watch the interview he just had with the RnD head of Prince. He talks about the future of the Ripstick
@@elijah.espino no time for it, but is there you obv watched eh?
Why would you care about any pro player endorsements? Unless you hit like a pro, you shouldn't care! Even pro players play with totally different specs from the rackets they endorse!
@@tomcat1555 what you are saying does not makes sense at all bruh lol
@@tomcat1555 what you’re saying makes perfect sense and you’re 100% correct.
Damn, that 305 16x18 Phantom X looks interesting!!!
Grapplesnake m8 should be perfect match for the new cosmetics (color wise)
93p coming back?
no because the Prince CEO is trying to drive the company into the ground.
@@OldSkoolLegend what, again?
@@sbrown923 Im just pissed at Prince. It's my favourite racket brand and they are just screwing up time after time. nvm
Prince, just give us Tour series in blue colour! Thanks
No more mid sized Phantom?
„Great rackets, but I customized them all…“😅
I still have a triple threat in my closet, I am going to demo as many of these phantoms as I can get ahold of. Where can you demo Prince racquets besides TW?
97p? 93p? Those were the gems
yeah but the Prince leadership is delusional and are totally out of touch with reality.... so dont expect those to come back.
Is there ever a scenario where more stiffness is worse?
It generates power, spin, gives more controll. Literally checks all boxes, why would you want less stiffness?
arm friendliness
Where's the 97s?
I like the old 97 but they don't sell grommets for it any more. Last time I looked they were discontinued. Sort of put me off Prince frames since then. I've gone over to Head.
I thought about getting Phantoms before switching from Wilson Blade to Yonex Regna.
With the current Phantom my decision would probably have been different.
The one person I know in Australia who's excited about the Phantom wants the 18x20 but they're not bringing it here
Noticed that on TO's website. Why is this?! And how to get it in ? Ridiculous honestly.
Come to think about it given TO is outlet of TW who is the SOLE distributor of Prince than everyone wherever there is a TW outlet should like the Yankees receive EVERY TYPE of Prince available..
@@mattiastennis yeah exactly. Although tennis Warehouse USA has a sale on the frames. Can get them here for about $240 delivered
Great racquets, but really bad cosmetic. I have the 100X 305 and the 107G from the previous generation and I love them both, but I'll be skipping this generation and hoping that Prince goes back to a better look with the next one.
The paintjob is going to be a hard sell.
Missing 100 Cross Bar
reviews for most part are good but its all over the place
I wouldn't have taken them for the test if they hadn't sent me 93's...
Shame that Prince hasn't got any top players anymore to carry the brand a bit more....
Agreed but they only endorse but don’t often play with the product.
Thomas Fancutt ? He uses Prince Tours
@@mattiastennis He's 173 ranked... lol
@@hybrid11theory75 That is a top player. Infact if you watched him you would not know much difference. So why are you laughing?
@@mattiastennis Never seen him on a main draw in bigger tournaments. With top players I mean at least Top 50... they are on TV and playing huge tournaments, so they can carry a brand a bit more...
How much it's cost tennis nerd?❤
☝🏽😉
Tennis Warehouse maks the worst tennis raquet reviews...lets see this friend
Probably a good tennis racket...
Sorry, but the paint job is utterly ugly. These military camo patterns are repulsive these days...
