- Let's have a full review of the Custom lightsabers from Savi's workshop at Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. We will listen to all crystal sounds, & look at what my process was to build a custom lightsaber.
In this video we'll test out every kyber crystal sound (except black)
These lightsabers cost $199.99 plus California State Tax, that price includes, the custom hilt, 1 blade, and 1 carrying case as well as the show that is put on as you build your lightsaber. This video will give you a full walkthrough of my experience at Star Wars Galaxy's Edge.
Savi's workshop is run by a group called "The Gatherers" and they will secretly instruct you on how to make your own custom built lightsaber. This is not a basic toy, they are heavy and made of die cast metal.

CORRECTION: at the time of recording, I didn't realize that my Jedi Temple Guard blade had a big black stopper in the emitter. This is why I thought it wouldn't work with the same blades that come with Savi's Custom Lightsabers. What I say in this video is incorrect. YOU CAN USE SAVI'S BLADES WITH LEGACY HILTS!

I saw another video they put out black Crystal's in red containers but it's rare to find one
The blade wobbles by design. Kids and some people are going to be using these to actually fight. The wobble keeps the force from contact from transferring to the hilt and possibly damaging the internals.

Gotta admit, I totally would've been the person that would try and sneak in a different Kyber Crystal. Like, just without even thinking. So glad you brought up those points of why that would've been a terrible idea as well as extremely rude and inconsiderate. Thanks much.

The battery is part of the speaker. Litteraly just pull out the black speaker on the bottom and it reveals the battery compartment
Correct Batteries are in the Base. Some else posted that it take 3 AA Batteries.

@@mavoc3094 there are legacy lightsabers like the Darth Vader one that use 3 AA Batteries, but the most lightsabers use 3 AAA batteries
The only reason the blade doesn't turn black with the black crystal is because black light (not to be confused with a UV light) is physically impossible

I heard that the blade wobbles to help spread the impact when using your blade in duels and stuff, it's supposed to make it more battle ready and last longer.
Calling it now: there’s going to be so many 3rd party pieces coming out.

The battery pack is attached to the speaker. To change the batteries, unscrew the pommel. Then unscrew the speaker and the pack should slide right out.
Thank you! Kind of bummed that it takes batteries in the first place was hoping for a rechargeable battery feature. I won’t be going for awhile to pick up my own.
Jasmine Thompson You’re welcome! Yeah, that would be nice, but batteries are kind of the standard with other brands so I’m not surprised. The ones in my Force FX lightsabers last for quite awhile.
Just get a set of rechargeable AA batteries. I did for my Disney Skywalker family saber (called Rey’s on the box, but I prefer calling it the Skywalker saber) and it makes it better than using disposable batteries.
Don't forget to throw the pommel at your opponent to end him/her rightly.

I went and my god it was amazing. My time was 8:00 to 12:00 at night. We just took our time and we got to see everything and ride Smugglers Run 3 times getting each position once which was amazing. It’s the best land I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait until it’s 100% finished

I had not considered that someone would want to sub a diff colour crystal they'd purchased! You explained, very well, why not to do that during the building experience. Thank you!! Of the many videos I've watched, you're the only one who specifically pointed that out. After all, you really can add whatever crystal you want once you've returned to your home planet.
Also, I'd go purple (okay, "violet")... Cuz before Master Windu, there was Star Wars Dark Forces 2 PVP, and I always chose purple ;-)
Gonna get the white. Not only do I relate to what it stands for, but it’s such a nice color and sound.
Yeah I will probably get green and then buy a white crystal. The white just looks a lot brighter to me.
Thank you for these videos! I didn’t jump on the chance to build a lightsaber when I went during cast member preview days so I’ve been scouring RUclips for more information on the styles of hilt, crystal, etc.
Not going to lie, I did rewind and go over all the sounds when you powered up each saber and each has their own unique sound. The deep hum of the purple is selling me! I can’t wait to go back!
your second camera makes it look like you're in the original trilogy the way the lightsaber works I love it
The temple guard lightsaber has an insert to protect the blade socet. So the "bold your own" blade will fit. Hope this helps

I went with protection and defense with a purple crystal it really seems to fit for me.

I went with the blue crystal and I love this saber it represents the ones from the Knights Of Old Republic.
Purple is a great choice. I want to get a yellow for mine. I think yellow would be the absolute best fit, but for a starting choice, purple is definitely a good look.
I’m going to Galaxy Egde in August for my graduation present and I can’t wait!! I’m definitely picking a purple one cause not only is it my favorite color but Mace Windu’s lightsaber has been one of my and my older brother’s favorites since first watching Star Wars when we were kids.

Great point about not putting in yellow or white crystals during the presentation. You KNOW someone would do that and annoy everything.

Someone did that when my brother got his. The guy across from us pocketed his red crystal and snuck in a yellow one. When it came time for the reveal and he turned his on the guy running the thing continued his speech but added in "Some of you may have a more honorable legacy than others" and gave a sidelong glance at the guy. I could definitely see some kids crying over that and ruining the whole thing.

If the blades contain actual rgb lights and not single lights of each color. Then you could theoretically make your own kyber crystal that has a unique rgb code.
It's really awesome that you can buy different crystals and swap them out to change the blade color/sounds. I didn't know that was a thing!

Hell yeah! All hail Revan! I remember when i first played the old republic game with him, i gave him a red and purple before i even knew that was his colors. I even put them in the same hands as a popular picture depicts him having.
Its so upsetting for me when they say the purple saber and only mention Mace Windu and not revan.

Thank you for sharing. I'm a light saber buyer. I had heard about saber shop at galaxy edge. I saw them but, a guy who buys ultra sabers and saber forge I was expecting these to be toys but, I really want one they're super cool . Thank you for helping me.
The white crystal is amazing
I must say, the Ultrasabers is much more worth it. With only $75 for a Mystery Box + $10 for a heavy grade blade (better durability) is the best choice. The holocrons in Galaxy's Edge, however, is a must!

Ok so that $85 mystery box saber which I have (watch my older vids) is just a flashlight though... no sound and it literally works like a flashlight... on or off. This at least had a soundboard And it gradually ignites and retracts. Worth the extra Hundred for that!

If I get one of these I’m definitely getting a violet crystal. It sounds soooo satisfying and I love the colour too. If I was to get an extra crystal I’d get a yellow crystal as my spare crystal.

i really like this video. I've not seen anyone else activate it without it completely put together, but i'm the kind of person who likes to mess around with the toys i have to see what the limits are, and that would have been one of the things i'd be curious about.

From what I’ve seen new batteries really help with the lag on the legacy sabers. I suspect the same is true for the Savis.

I hope they someday have orange crystals, or somebody makes some custom ones. That was always my favorite crystal color available from the old LucasArts Jedi Knight/Jedi Outcast - Jedi Academy. :)

@@deadschooled the blade is red in person. It doesn’t show up that good on camera.
Unfortunately the blades are incapable of turning orange or cyan. Someone found the RFID codes for the colors on the crystals, but all it does is change the interior lights. The blades don’t turn those colors and they have no voice lines attached to those colors for the holocrons which also are incapable of turning orange or cyan. They would need to release new blades and new chassis.
The battery compartment is located in the base of the lightsaber core where the speaker is, not on the top. And it holds standard batteries.
I agree! I'm living the yellow sound myself. But personally, I'd pick the blue kyber crystal.

Damn these lightsabers are amazing- totally worth the price for everything you get plus the show! Also, loved how much banter you have with your droid. The casual blips and bloops really does make it feel like you’ve got a real ‘living’ droid buddy to have around!

Definitely violet and yellow. I might walk around with yellow one day, then the next I’ll use the violet one. I’d say that the lightsabers are worth it!

Love your videos. 👍 but I believe that along with the color change the sound that the saber makes is different ie on ignition, deactivation, and the hum. So blue makes the sound anakin’s saber made in a new hope. Red sounds a lot like Darth Vader’s lightsaber in Rogue One or ESB.
Over the course of two years, I have watched this video at least 20 times.

Dan just got back from galaxys edge too, made a power and control pruple and bought white, yellow and red, im going to buy green and blue when i go back next week. For us our time was 11am, waited in the line to pay till about 11:30. the cast member gave us our card and pin and told us to return at 12:00. in fact our group didnt go in until 1 so we wasted about an hour waiting because they give us the wrong time to return. once they get that right it really is not much wasted time for savi's
Hey man! Good meeting you yesterday and hopefully the kyber crystals will be re-stocked before too long....
As a quick heads-up: if the Galaxy's Edge blades are anything like the Force FX blades (which it seems they probably are) they are only combat-ready if you don't care too much about your LED's inside the blade. The difference is in where the lights are placed: Ultrasabers put all your LED lights into the casing of the hilt, which is why they work just like a flashlight. To get that gradual ignition effect, the LED's are installed as a long strip inside the blade. Any kind of vigorous sparring with those style blades will likely not have a huge impact on the polycarbonate on the outside as long as you're only using it against other lightsabers (trees, poles, etc. can still shatter your blade, so heads up), but it WILL more than likely destroy the ignition effect and make it so that your lightsaber doesn't light up the way it's supposed to. Those LED ribbons are pretty fragile.
Could you take it somewhere to get it modified to be combat ready?
@@lord_terrorbeast2625 this early on in the release and distribution of these particular sabers, I'd say probably not... yet. It took a while for folks to come up with a good way to mod the Force FX sabers, and the Galaxy's Edge sabers are definitely more complex!
If you *were* able to modify it, you'd do so at the potential loss of functionality with the whole crystal system.
@@montgoja good thing is replacement blades arent expensive so you can have a few blades youre ok damaging and one blade you want in good condition
Merciless Mode just be aware that because Disney uses that kind of proprietary hardware on the bottom of the blade, the ONLY way you can currently buy extra blades is by going to Galaxy’s Edge or relying on the whims of Ebay. Any other blades (Ultrasabers, SaberForge, etc.) WILL NOT work in the lightsaber - you’ll just get the little zap sound and it won’t ignite.
@@montgoja with a bit of tampering you CAN make them work, its an absolute pain but you can. I wish theyd work naturally but its better than nothing
My recommendation is buying 7 or 8 replacement blades when you go the first time and keeping one of them as a display only blade
Thanks for sharing this video. I had NO idea you couldn't change the blades to the 36" on Savi's hilt. Good thing I bought a blade for my legacy saber. I shared my build on discord in lightsabers
I was wrong. Check my pinned comment. You absolutely can change them I was just a dingus and didn’t realize my legacy hilt had a stopper inside the emitter.

The Dan-O Channel so I get that monkey lizard has to be controlled but does the loath cat and the R2 unit talk just by them selves?
Chin Chin57 lothcat has little functions when you pet its back, head or squeeze its tail. I just use clever editing to make her come to life. And same with the droid I control his movement and I trigger sounds

Also, the colored crystals do work in the Sith holocron and red also in the Jedi holocron. The holocrons also combine to unlock messages from the Bendu.
