The most bombed country in the world

I knew about the bombs being dropped on Cambodia during the Vietnam War, but I didn’t realise the extent to which the next door neighbour was affected too.
Laos is located right next to Vietnam at the start of what was the Ho Chi Minh trail, which ran south through Cambodia to supply the Viet cong in the south of Vietnam
So the Americans bombed the absolute cr-p out of it, dropping 270,000,000 bombs in a 9 year period. 80,000,000 million bombs were left unexploded, waiting to be detonated in the years to come, by farmers trying to cultivate the land, to children just trying to play in the jungle.

Why was America fighting the war? Because the French couldn’t do it themselves and begged America to do so! America said no at first, but the knew America’s weakness, leaned over and whispered in America’s ear.. “ but if you don’t, Communism will spread”, as America broke out in a sweat, Order 66 was given and America started fighting in Vietnam!

Vietnam was a French colony and they were fighting to keep it under their control however with how violent their other wars to keep colonies I think France quickly realized it was an unwinnable war (without killing everybody in the country) and left, leaving the Americans behind however I find it weird that Americans blame France for abandoning them in the fight against communism, but like... vietnam isn’t the problem, but traumatizing a generation of men trying to stop it, is a problem. Im not really correcting you much, just telling more of the story.

@Tyletoful Hm. I did not know that. So then why if it's pronounce Lao in Laotian. Why is it spelled and pronounced the way it is in English?

In my first videos about Laos I was pronouncing the S, but someone said it is silent, which I found out is true for the local Lao people. It's just called "Laos" in English because three "Lao" kingdoms were united when the English first arrived and they said "Laos" as if it's a plural. So I think either way is correct but I like to call it "Lao" now to be closer to what the locals call it.

I'm not from the UK so idk what you're talking about.
I think we can say some wars are more pointless than others. The war in Vietnam was more of a proxy war between the cold war powers, it didn't really matter for the US directly. How would the world be different now if South Vietnam won? Where as WWI and II had to be fought to actually beat the maniacally invading Germans and Japanese which were directly threatening almost the whole world.
