Bernard Herrman was Hitchcock's "go-to" man that composed and conducted for many scores for film! Similar to the all-around "genius" of John Williams! Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, Danny Elfman, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, for example, all of which contributed to many of our favourite movies
Bernard Herrmann, the music composer, actually worked with Alfred Hitchcock, the director, in storyboarding and editing the iconic shower scene from PYSHCO. They fought a lot!
Haha bravo! Thanks for creating this little look into scary music. I'll definitely share this with my students. I wish I would have found this before Halloween!
The "Tritone was used in one of the segments of "Twilight Zone the Movie" very very creepy. The Bela Bartok openning in "The Shinning" hands down the creepiest in movie history
Thanks so much! This was the only story I was sad about missing this morning when the show was interrupted. Would 've preferred a broader view through. They focused too much on Abel and the two films.
'Us' wasn't scary. It was interesting, and had a million plot holes. The music was great, but it wasn't like Get Out level scary or even close to the average horror movie.
Hitchcock s use of Strings in Psycho s shower scene made it more impactful.

The nun's habits blowing in the Fall breeze in The Exorcist was creepy.
Michael Abels is such a genius.!! The Us soundtrack has always made me feel so uncomfortable in the best way
The shining music in the beginning with the deep horns..still freaks me out

I'm surprised that no one mentioned the theme from Halloween, 1, 2, from Nightmare on Elm Street, or Friday the 13th.
Beatles “A Day In The Life” scared me and “No. 9.” 2:38 reminds me the beginning of the song “LA Woman” by the Doors.

Sharri Garvin, you DO know that “The Shinning” is the “Simpsons” parody, don’t you?

I don't know about you, but, it wasn't the high of the music that scared me, it was the knife.
Rick Beato did a segment on scary music in movies. Look it up - good stuff!
The music from “The Shining” was the only thing I found scary in that movie.
I'm surprised that "Ave Satani" by Jerry Goldsmith from the 1976 movie "The Omen" wasn't mentioned.
Amen!
Saw theme!!!!!
