I've watched many Christmas light shows with a fair amount of them being to TSO music, but what Alex has achieved here is more than amazing...by far, it is THE BEST! Seriously. I think some people try to overwhelm you with the number of lights on large houses, but this video shows that if you truly understand the music and the relationship to how music can make you feel, you don't need to overwhelm. Absolutely brilliant. I lived it.
Wow, thank you so much Peter! That really means a lot! That's absolutely what I was trying to go for here. I don't really like it when people just put up a crazy amount of lights and only halfheartedly synchronize everything with their music, so I decided to go with a more reasonable amount of lights and focus more on making them express the music really well. I'm so glad that my intent ended up paying off! Merry Christmas!
Well, I watched this last year, and it was fantastic. Watched it this year (2024) and it is still fantastic! I probably will watch it several times before Christmas! Great video!
This is by far the best home light show I have ever witnessed and I wish I could have been standing in the streets to see this spectacular event. Thank you. You have made my holiday❤
I'm glad you enjoyed! I've got a behind-the-scenes video on my channel that might give you all the info that you're looking for. There's a link to it in the pinned comment!
A happy new year and thank you so much for sharing this beautiful artwork! 💖 I thought, I can't get into the christmas mood. But now after watching this brilliant video, finally christmas is here with me. ☺ Too late? Never! It's never too late to feel love, compassion, beloning, tenderness and wishing the world all the best. Thank you so much! You really made my day (on New Year's Eve). 💖 Stay save and have a very great and joyful new year! 💗
I have seen a few of these in my home area of Dallas, Texas. This one is nice too. As an EE (retired) I could expect a lot of work went into building this. Very nice.
Funnily enough, I just made one a few days ago! Check the link in the pinned comment to go and watch it! And here it is if you don't feel like doing that: ruclips.net/video/6DPWWjt72Xo/видео.html
Bravo! I feel like I should be giving you a standing ovation, Alex. Wonderful job! I'm sad that I didn't get to see it in person this year. You'll have to do it again next year :-)
So what's the software and hardware like with this setup? I used to run lights in a large nightclub. Now that I'm retired. I'd like to do this to my place.
I use xLights for actually sequencing all of the songs and then I export the completed sequence and copy it over to a Raspberry Pi running Falcon Pi Player, which is a piece of software made for controlling light shows. The Pi communicates with an F16V3 board, which is what actually drives the lights themselves, over Ethernet, and the lights are just WS2811 pixels that run off 12 volts. I also have an FM radio transmitter hooked up to the Pi's audio output so that people can tune in from their cars. Good luck with your light show and let me know if you have any other questions!
Yeah, those lights are really distracting, but I needed them in order to light up the "tune radio" sign on the tree and both the palm tree light and the one near the sidewalk are unfortunately on the same circuit. But in 2022 I upgraded to a proper self-illuminated "tune radio" sign and so I can leave those lights off now! I just didn't want to upload a second video to RUclips with the updated setup because it's identical in every way other than those lights being off!
If you're interested in seeing how this was made, watch my all-new behind the scenes video: ruclips.net/video/6DPWWjt72Xo/видео.html
That was awesome.

Bravo. Really shows how much more artistic expression is than vast numbers of lights.

I would love a behind the scenes video. I love the DIY style, especially in the arches. Did you sequence everything yourself?

Was one of the best shows except for the lit palm tree and the lantern. Very distracting.
