Aw - I don't blame you for needing a break. I've needed two days to recover from episode one before going to two!
So many things in the house: The guitar he got from the fall, the CC mobile balls, the hat he wears in Off brand when he first does Saul, the shoes he sold the old ladies, beanie babies that he bribed the clerk with, and of course the alcohol topper
the balls from the bingo he arranged for the lady of the Sandpiper case.
Plus, I don't remember the book being in the show before, and on the top of my head it's the perfect name for that scene: time machine.
He also has the Panavision hat that he wore when directing some commercials.

For further information, a burned corpse is Mateo, a guy Lalo advised to shave like him.
When Lalo was talking with Mateo’s wife, they were talking about how Lalo paid for the dental treatment. Lalo made sure that Mateo’s dental record will be identical to his dental record because in case of unrecognizable corpse, the forensics will identify the body using dental record. Once the federales found the burned corpse, they will identify the corpse as Lalo because their dental record fit together. The plan works as it later confirmed by Tyrus.
I didn’t put that together watching it. But when Nikki said about that body being Mateo, I remembered the teeth and it clicked. He set him up as a way to be ‘dead’.

@@gerardfonz I don't see why you couldn't see Lalo doing this, he has been quite calculating from the beginning. Also "terrible writing" is a massive exaggeration even if this wasn't consistent.
@@glassbowl2147 Maybe not terrible, you are right not consistent is correct. Because Lalo wasn't revealed to us as one who plans. Gus was. There's a long way to go, so maybe it's just a blip I can forget about.

The story this season (outside of Saul/Kim) seems to revolve around Nacho. Everyone is out to get him, dead and/or alive!

Only dead awaits him, Gus wants him dead so he can get rid of the proof that he ordered the assassination, the cousins and the cartel (except Gus) want to get him alive so they can know who ordered the assassination (and I don't think they're gonna ask nicely) and then they will kill him for being a rat, maybe Mike could help him somehow but I doubt the help is going to be anything else than protecting Nacho's father.
the twins looked really upset when they found "lalo" in the house, and lalo also called them "good boys" back in s5. maybe they were close? we haven't seen them get emotional or really show any modicum of emotion, but marco really seemed upset. i'm so excited to see more than just stony faces from them! nacho is in so, so much trouble.
Do we know who their dad is? Is it potentially Lalo? Salamanca family tree plus casual/vague use of words like "cousin" and "uncle" seems plausible. I know he said they were HIS cousins but, could just be lying/being vague/etc.

I only realized this watching the reaction. The wife talks about how hard the dentist worked on her husband. I think Lalo chose him specifically to be his body double with identical dental records. I think at least
Yea that's right. Its standard protocol to use dental records to identify a body that is damaged to the point of being unrecognizable. No matter what happens to a body the teeth are almost always the last thing to be destroyed. Even fire won't damage the identifying features of teeth. Lalo picked a guy with a similar build to himself and then offered free dental care as a charity. The man was likely poor and would never have been able to get proper dental care on his own, so he benefited from it. However, obviously it wasn't a gift out of altruism. Lalo paided the dentists to make their dental records identical, so in case of a burned body Lalo and this other man would be literally impossible to tell the difference between.
It blew my mind that I didn’t even realize that I had never once seen Saul Goodmans house up until this episode.
“The days of wine and roses” - a song of season 6 based on the movie of a same name.
The movie is about “Joe (Jimmy)” and “Kirsten (Kim)” who formed a romantic relationship based on constant partying and drinking. The blooming marriage turned into a disaster since both of them had fallen into alcoholism. In the end of the story, Joe was the only one who succeeded in rehab while Kirsten was quite far gone and alienated herself from her own daughter. However, Joe didn’t give up on her and the movie had a bittersweet ending that the family was still broken but had a prospect of fixing it back.
This reference to BCS and BrBa seems on the nose. We all know that the trajectory about Jimmy and Kim relationship is that Jimmy bringing Kim into the dark path and destroying both of their lives together. Joe succeeding with his rehab while Kirsten failed might be about how Jimmy survived throughout Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad while Kim wasn’t even exist in Breaking Bad. She might not be alive at that point. Now with Jimmy becoming Gene, the whole “Joe not giving up on Kirsten” might be a foreshadowing for a huge redemption arc for him. Gene may need to do something to make amends with pain and suffering he caused Kim. He might end up getting in jail or die for it (or getting in jail AND die for it because winner takes it all) in order to save Kim in some form. Whatever Gene’s ending will be, I think it will be a tragic but also redemptively beautiful conclusion to his story.
Awesome analysis! Loved reading this. My take is that Jimmy is the front for the Saul Goodman business, and Kim is working behind the scenes. She doesn’t have a job, she could work with Jimmy, doing pro-bono work while also being the puppet master creating and controlling the schemes that occurs in BrBa. We never see jimmy’s house and we never knew about his private life, its possible Kim is the real mastermind behind it all.
Maybe Kim gets disbarred as a result of her scams (she pulls her own scam without Jimmy and gets caught) and that’s why she advises Saul behind the scenes…

I 100% agree with Nikki. Lalo is terrifying mainly bc you can't read him. The others have faults but they're all about the business. Lalo's allegiance is to Hector and the pride of the Salomonca family name.
I'm a big fan of Saul and Kim but at the moment I just want to see what's happening with Gus nacho and Lalo that writing is top-notch
I can't believe that this is the last season of this AMAZING show. In my opinion, is the best show actually.
The opening just showed how much we don’t know about Jimmys life in breaking bad behind his Saul Goodman Persona, don’t forget that it always was Saul Goodman and associates and that his checks went over Ice station zebra (Kim’s favorite movie). Who knows let’s see. Maybe Kim was there all the time and she is with „Gene“ in Omaha. We have seen so less in the opening from his post Breaking Bad Life.
Gene lives alone in that small apartment in Omaha, reliving the past through his commercials on VHS.
Perhaps Kim and Jimmy/Saul split up in the BB storyline when Walter White and team went into hiding, not in the storyline of BCS.

Did you guys notice how when Jimmy arrives to the el camino restaurant he looks at Kim through the window and she's basically "behind bars"? Not only that when he enters the outside light casts the bars shadow behind Kim. Nothing in this show is random and I'll leave it at that.

What a great start to the final season. The opening scene gives me hope that Kim is around during the BB time line. Besides the pink panties and tequila cork, there was a pair of chairs outside on the curb that looked like a king and queen would sit in. 🤞

Tony Dalton, who plays Lalo in this, was perfect casting in Hawkeye to make you think he was a villain. I couldn't unsee Lalo in Hawkeye.
Nikki, you can tell, loves this show, she gets excited and talks in the intro… which usually Steven dominates
At first I though ""this house is too good to be Saul's. Then I remembered he's one of the go to lawyers to criminals that makes millions upon millions of dollars; Of course his house is amazing.
It was so good!!!! The opening was perfection. So happy it wasn’t a Nebraska flash forward. They better save that for the end.
Jimmy is finally caught and sent away to prison. Long montage of how hopeless his life has become. Really hammer home the “how the mighty have fallen” angle. Jimmy walks into the visitors room perplexed that someone, anyone would come to see him. He sits, his face is a combination of shock, and amazement. He’s almost on the verge of tears. We don’t see who is on the other side of the glass. He picks up the phone and we hear a familiar voice say “Hey Jimmy” fade to black.
I missed Saul's shenanigans so much! And I totally agree with you Steven, this series has surpassed Breaking Bad as my favorite of the two. Nothing to take away from BB but this series has improved on the phenomenon foundation BB provided.💅

It's always sad seeing Mike with his granddaughter, knowing he just ended up disappearing and his granddaughter & daughter-in-law ended up without the money he saved up. I wonder if we'll find out what happened to them post-Breaking Bad.
That’s a good question… but I’m sure the daughter-in-law is assuming he’s dead because there’s no way Mike would just get up and leave his family without saying a word.

The scene from BB where Saul mentions Nacho and Lalo will be interesting to see how they tie in. The beginning of this ep definitely threw me for a loop.ur 100% spot in tho Nikki- the attention to this detail is some of the greatest TV show work ever produced. Just amazingly good
I'm guessing that the grey turning to color is the indicator saying that the timeline for Better Call Saul has caught up with the timeline for Breaking Bad.
But if there's no Gen scene at the start of this season which means last episodes are Gen episodes :D (hopefully)

I'm a huge Breaking Bad universe fan love it all Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, El Camino. I'm so excited for this last season of BCS, and maybe find out what ultimately happens to Kim, Howard, Nacho, Lalo, and of course Jimmy/Saul/Gene.
3:27 Lalo will be chronologically the first Salamanca to die I think which will prompt Gus to taunt Hector for the first time.
So out of the loop that the only reason I knew the show was back was because this reaction showed up in my feed. Lots of great stuff in the first two episodes. Can't wait for the rest.

When Lalo told Hector about proof, he seemed to have his light-bulb moment right after saying he’d watched Gus’s men and saw nothing. I think Lalo then remembered Werner Ziegler; that Gus is hiding something having to do with hiring a German engineer and the “south wall”. Lalo was working it last season, “there are 27 Werner Zieglers in Germany…we’ll, 26 according to Mrs. Ziegler.” So he’ll follow up on that angle. If he finds that Gus is planning to end-run the cartel with a production facility, that would show that Gus deceived Bolsa.

Here's what I speculate from the opening: While there is a lot of relics from his past (including beanie babies, stress balls from the cell phone store, and what looks like the vet's notebook) we don't see a single thing connected to Kim, except for that topper at the end. Which makes me think he and Kim have a harsh breakup and he tries to erase any bit of her from his life, but he can't or fails to get rid of the topper, which was tucked in drawer. Basically Saul Goodman maybe gives the whole "they were part of my life and now they are not" treatment to Kim that he gave to Chuck.
So I'm guessing it will make Saul an even more tragic character. But that's just a guess from the opening.

Great vid guys! So good to be back in this world. But I'm wondering if the first half of this season, (the first eight) before a short break, will lead into Breaking Bad and the last five episodes, after said break, will flash-forward to Jimmy in the future, after BB. Wasn't the last time we saw Jimmy in the black-and-white flash forward from earlier seasons, in the hospital, recuperating from that fall at Cinnabon?
My jaw was on the floor that whole opening scene. Dear God, man. Saul did pretty well for himself. And frankly, it's no less than I would have expected for him. 💅👔
Did you notice the suit colors near the beginning? You've seen the end, so more clues are Identified: 1) Jimmy shows Kim a suit, she said "too good" it was also the last Suit Saul Goodman wears in the last episode (Silver/Brown), So, that is called too good, so Saul shows Kim a brown suit- this is the first Suit Saul ever had on the show. {last suit, first suit}
Better late than never right lol? I'm just going to leave the necktie 👔 emoji though because that initial scene when the neckties are introduced (when Jimmy starts switching up his wardrobe and dressing all crazy) is probably still my favorite of the entire series with that big balloon guy, omg so freaking brilliant. It's one of my favorite scenes of all time tbh so I was thrilled to see those neck ties come back 😍🙌✌
Breaking bad is a euphemism for cookin meth as opposed to a metaphor for doing things that some people define as Immoral

Opening scene was like Citizen Kane meets Scarface... Loved that, and rewatched 5 times already.
The guy at the country club, Norm, is played by James Urbaniak, aka Dr Venture from The Venture Bros.
The 1st 2 episodes of this season has been some of the tensest television I have ever seen
One whole episode with only Nacho and him being on the run, only hearing other characters over the phone, would have been my favourite episode of the show

I love that Nacho is told to shoot anyone who comes through the door. Gus is banking on the fact that Nacho will die in a shootout and the secret will die with him but he fucks up because he underestimated Nacho and then he has to change his plans because of that.
I enjoyed Jimmy's tirade in the club SO much because I had already given up when Kevin recognized him. Then he just turned around and pulled that out. When the "drugs" fell out of the locker I audibly went, "Oooooh.... Wow, that was slick!" I started getting really excited .... and then I kind of went... Wait... this is so horrible. Howard isn't perfect, but he's never done anything to deserve this. I was immediately conflicted, had so many questions, and generally forgot everything except the story for a minute and then I thought, "Ah... good. BCS is back!" Exactly how I felt watching Chicanery when EVERYTHING Chuck was ranting about on the stand was true, yet I was rooting for Jimmy and Kim. I dunno. I'm starting to think I'm in an abusive relationship with Vince Gilligan because he manipulates me so well.
