Hi, I graduated Trumbull High School in 1979. That school that was torn down on White Plains Rd. was Center School. I went there in 4th. grade in 1969. I lived near the bunny fountain, at the corner of Huntington Tpke. and Unity Rd. I went to Beaches Pool many times as a kid. This is the best video of Trumbull I've ever seen. I currently live outside of Virginia Beach, VA.
It's a great stroll down memory lane.
So glad to hear! I had a nice day filming it I was hoping people would eventually find it that wanted to see it again ❤️😊
I've been to Korvettes back in the 70's for electronics. I also remember Anderson Little and Hermans back then.
Nice video. I also graduated THD 1979. Living in Trumbull.
I lived there in the 80’s . That was a stroll down memory lane for me . Great video
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)
😃👌Definitely, I want to visit Trumbull, is amazing, it has nature everywhere! And the environment is really sanely, while I was viewing the video I breathed peace, friendship and spirituality. Pride, Attitude, Desire and Sacrifice, that's it the Trumbull soul. Hurrah to the Trumbull Team 👏👏
Hi! Yea it’s a pretty nice town. Glad I grew up there have a lot of nice memories 😊
I remember Moonies, Knorvettes, Bagel Nosh!! at the mall.
So excited I chose Trumbull as my new home for my daughter & I. it is breathtaking and love the nature and cleanness. Thank you for this video, will be rewatching to visit the parks you mentioned.
That’s awesome! Welcome to Trumbull! I grew up there and have very happy memories! The parks are beautiful! Love twin brooks in the spring it’s all 🌼 daffodils.
Remember the UA Theatre back in the 70s on the mall property😊 Beaches Pool was the best. Wasn't there a country club there too back in the day
I remember the theater at the mall! Saw grease there like 5 times lol
Met a nice man from Trumbull lately he liked it very much. I know about Storrs Conneticut from my in laws!
Nice video. I remember the mall from the 70's and early 80's. Brings back great memories. Thanks.
Remember Woolworth’s and korvets?! So different now! I’ll have to do a walk around inside soon :)
Remember Miles Shoes with the zebra carpet? 😅
@@AfternooninConnecticut remembered all that! We moved in to Trumbull in '68. Do you remember Jonathan Trumbull Restaurant upstairs in Read's?!
@@jeaninepereira3446 hi! I don’t remember miles shoes? Where was that? I do remember the restaurant at reads! They used to have a bakery counter too downstairs that had a spinach quiche that I loved!
Miles Shoes was next to Thom McAn Shoes the same hallway where Woolworth was and Kinney Shoes, Stuart's, Maryanne's clothing. Do you remember Mooneys Sporting Goods? It was on the Madison Ave. side. Lanes Beauty Shop was next to Mooneys. You remember Buster Brown with the dog bopping up and down lol@AfternooninConnecticut
That was fun to watch from my current home in northern Vermont! The town I (happily) live in now is so small that we only have one small K-8 school and a three-room town clerk's office and we don't have any stores or even a post office. These days I mostly go from the house to the barn to visit the chickens! It was nice to have a virtual visit of the old hometown though and to hear your voice again. Hope you and your family are well and best of luck with your "Afternoon in Connecticut" channel.
Hey Jackie! So nice to hear from you! Wow Vermont is wonderful! So happy for you. That must be a wonderful relaxing life ❤️ We visit up there sometimes Burlington, Waitsfield, Stowe are you around there? We love how chill it is there. Glad you like the video. I know you had one of those houses too that they kept switching out schools lol
@@AfternooninConnecticut We're closer to Burke - way up north! It's peaceful and less stressful but we do a lot of homesteading chores so I wouldn't exactly call it relaxing! Yes, I went to DFS for Kindergarten, then Center School for 1st & 2nd (when you and I first met), then back to DFS again. Not sure why I never went to Middlebrook, it was closer to my home than DFS! This was a fun video to watch. I remember once when I was in my early 20s, Bill Patrick was home on leave for a bit and we decided to visit all of the Trumbull elementary school and park playgrounds in one night and rate them! We went on all the swing sets, slides, and jungle gyms then went to Trumbull Pizza (now Old Towne, I think) and chose the winning playground! I'm not sure but I think we chose Tashua! I remember going to Unity Park with my dad back when jogging was a thing, hitting the trails at Twin Brooks with friends as a teenager, then taking my kids to Indian Ledge and Old Mine a lot. Trumbull's definitely not the same place it was when we were kids but I'm glad we got to grow up there together in the '70s and '80s.
Hey, Sparks!!! What a blast from the past!! Im still local, but never really go over that way for anything so this was really nice to see. So full of great memories for me💙 I remember going to Woolworths with my grandma when I was really young and having lunch at the counter there and walking thru the pet department to see the birds 🐦 and as we got older many (many) weekends spent as teenagers at the mall hanging out in the arcade and getting all the pins for our jackets and the latest posters of the hotties in all the Hair Metal bands 😊 God, I miss the 80s!! And going thru the schools...wow!!! It feels like it was just yesterday we were walking those halls, trying to get a quick smoke in outside in the smoking lounge (which they did away with MANY years ago) and catch up with the crew during the 3 minutes we had between classes 😂 thank you for this amazing piece of work. I'm sure it was a labor of love. Miss you and hope you are well 💙
Hey Kim! Thank you you were bringing back memories for me too.. Karl graffs? I remember the pins and the arcade OMG forgot about that. Such fun years for sure. I remember going to use the pay phone at JC penny to call my parents to pick me up lol It was fun making this I was laughing and crying all day filming this with all the memories rushing in 😊
If you haven't already, can you please do a review of Monroe?I grew up there and just watching this Video on Trumbull brings me back. The older I get the more I realize what a great place fairfield county was to grow up. I actually used to ride my horse to monroe elementary.
Hi 👋 I haven’t done a town tour yet just wolf park :) thanks for the recommendation
0:19 My church! I only go on Facebook live for services at the moment, but I still like that buiding.
I used to work in Newtown and coming from Stamford I usually enjoyed getting off and on the Merritt Parkway at 48 and took route 111 to route 25 and had a limited knowledge of the whole town, thanks for showing what else there was to see!
Thanks for taking the tour with me! ❤️😊
This is truly amazing! I dont get home enough to CT, but things have changed so so much. You did a great job! SO many throwbacks...Woolworths??? WOW! I agree...such a great place and era to grow up!!! No social media *thankfully*.
Sorry, was watching under my daughters account. Regardless, LOVE this video.
LOL! I have posted on my daughters FB before. Thank you 😊 Glad you enjoyed the tour. It was mind boggling seeing all of those places again. Opened up so many avenues in my brain that have been closed or detoured lol
Anyone remember the old Edison School where the police station is now. Went there for kindergarten and first grade, 1969 and 1970
I went there too from 1st-2nd grade :) I still remember the way it smelled. Lol felt so big but it prob wasn’t!
I remember my first grade teacher she was so mean she'd make this little boy cry every day. I still think about it. She was a very sick woman. You remember the cafeteria? It was unusual. There wasn't a fire exit door. I remember waiting in line to get lunch and looking through this plastic window and below were all the tables. The nurse's office was really old fashionedi remember that old white medicine chest lol @AfternooninConnecticut
@@AfternooninConnecticutI remember the principal put his hands around the neck of this 6th grader and banged his head on the stage. This was when we had to cut through the auditorium to get to the buses to go home. I loved the memories of that school but a couple of them haunt me to this day. Things were different back then for sure. But I'd go back in time if I could ❤
In the future on your way to Mohegan Sun, you should do a video on Ocean Beach in New London. And a walk around New London.
Oh that sounds like a great idea! Thank you so much for the recommendation 😊
I graduated Trumbull HS in 1982. searching for anybody who has copies of the 1981 and 1982 variety show.?? It would be awesome!!
Just got back from a long weekend staying in Madison and exploring the surrounding areas. Your videos were a huge help!
We especially loved Guilford for the town green and all the shops surrounding it. The only downside is it seems that entire shore line area is incredibly expensive. Are there towns like that near the ahore that are affordable without compromising niceness?
Thank you! So glad you enjoy my tours 😊 have you looked into Milford? It has beautiful beaches and and lovely downtown green with a lot of reasonable stores and places to dine and post rd (route 1) with a mall, movie theater, hotels close by. West haven has a cool boardwalk that’s close by as well.
Found my tour :) A look at Downtown historical Milford CT Connecticut and beaches

The Nichols building you filmed used to be a thrift store for Trumbull Congregational Church. My church. I know they were trying to sell it at one point, but I wasn't sure if it went through. I showed your video to my Mom. She thought a church was using the Nichols building. When I googled it Crossroads Community Church popped up.
Didn’t know about that.. I know the church on white plains rd had a thrift store at one point. Not sure if they still do or not. Nichols is so beautiful I love going there ❤️
I live in central CT
Do Fairfield. Grew up there!
Planning in it soon! Featured Fairfield train stations and beach in a video last year in this video ruclips.net/video/YeV5JMveic0/видео.html
I used to live right near best edibles formerly la Rosa's. Remember Waldbaums at the mall?
Hey Mike yes remember going to Waldbaums at the mall and LA Rosa's. Always walked to LA Rosa's to get my mom stuff. What about Marty Kanes?
@@jeaninepereira3446 yeah I commented About waldbaums and la Rosa's. I forgot about marty kanes they had good sandwiches!
Yes! Can’t remember where that was tho. Where the downstairs of jc pennys is?
@@AfternooninConnecticut it's where Macy's is/was. Madison st entrance to the left
Hi, I'm from Stamford, CT (living in MA currently). Back in the early 1980's, my grandmother occasionally took me to Trumbull to what she called "The Pie Place". I remember it was a bakery that sold pies, combined with an antique store that had plush Paddington Bear dolls scattered throughout. Do you remember a place like that, and what it was actually called, and where it was located? She also took me to The Trumbull Mall (was that the Westfield Mall?). I remember this particular mall had a lot of coin-operated rides. Would you be interested in making a video on Stamford, including a segment on the Stamford Museum and Nature Center?
Hi 👋 could it have possibly been Marie’s sandwich shop? I have never personally been in there it was in Trumbull center breakfast lunch place. Planning on visiting Stamford area this spring! :)
@@AfternooninConnecticut No, it wasn't a cafe/diner place. It was a combination bakery and antique shop, with a lot of Paddington Bears.
I think I still have the record for most tardies at Trumbull High. Class of 87.
LOL we used to get away with murder back then! Think they were happy some of us showed up at all! 😊
yeah i’d just roll out of bed and not even look at the time, and just walk over like no big deal 😆
