Absolutely timeless with so much energy being displayed to back them up. It's like the excitement of listening to them for the very first time. Far better than the music being performed during these modern times. John Fogerty is a legend in his own time.
January 1969 with friends, Bob Yoskowitz and Mike Horne, we were privileged to be at what then was called the Carousel ballroom. Tickets were $3-4, and each band played two sets, probably 20-30 min. each. Albert Collins, Fleetwood Mac. featuring Peter Greene on lead guitar and headliners Creedence Clearwater Revival. Yes, unbelievable, Mac got a little drunk during their second set, sharing a gallon jug of Red Mountain wine. But hey, they had Peter, Mic. and possibly Danny Kirwan, yes sublime. CCR sounded as good as this Woodstock video, perhaps the height of their early years, not sloppy or careless they sounded as good as their records. Tight, uncompromising great
John had it all, devastatingly impressive voice, excellent guitarist, songwriter. He still is, I was lucky enough to see him play live here in Argentina at the Luna Park Stadium, an unforgettable moment.
This is awesome. footage of Woodstock I have never seen before. I have always loved CCR, but this is amazing, should have been on the lp and the movie.
Complete mastery. The precision of that guitar-picking is really astonishing. John knew what he was doing, there was no "guessing" going on. And what a soulful vocalist he was...❤️
I had occasion to see John Fogerty perform in person. Fabulous! Great singer, tremendous guitarist. He composed CCR's great songs, the classic PROUD MARY, HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE RAIN, LODI FORTUNATE ONE, LOOKING OUT MY BACK DOOR and the wondrous UP AROUND THE BEND. A first-rate artist.
Hard to believe how GOOD these guys were...I mean possibly the greatest band to ever record an album...They were THAT GOOD......no wonder they got burned out, they were perfect all the time.....that takes a toll.

CCR played Day 2 of Woodstock at 12:30a-1:20am (early morning Day 3) so in 20mins this set was exactly 50 yrs ago! 🇺🇸✌️ Update: I'm 15mins in and I just hafta say that this set is absolute fire💯 these boys were letting loose and hitting on every cylinder...tighter than a banjo string 🔥🔥🔥
John Fogerty in an interview on woodstock 50 on CNN special John said. We came on after the Dead. Most people were asleep then I see a flick of a lighter and hear "we're with ya John ! :" so I played my set to that guy !
I don't think any American band has ever captured the primal feel of roots rockabilly/black R&B better than Creedence. And of course, it's Fogerty's genius that drives it but I think people underestimate the contribution of the band. They created a simple (sounding!) swampy groove that he never recreated on his solo stuff.
People tend to idolize the individual. But behind every genius there's a support network. Isolating himself and playing all the instruments surely didn't do John any good. Even if John had to tell the others what and how to play, he needed a groove to carry him.
Holy blues and funky Popular music Who is he talking to. Stage soul and rythym keep on choogling to telling you what to do and the music is just a guide to rythym and blues. And the Harp is blues filling.
Love CCR to this day! But CCR has another meaning... Critical Crawling Radius! A bar is within your CCR if you can crawl home instead of driving hammered!
And then he ran his brother off, then the band, and then fell flat in his face the rest of his life, as well as ruining his relationship with his brother, and his band mates. They ALL needed to understand that even if one person is doing all the spotlight positions, it's still about the chemistry between the members of the band. THAT'S what took them to the TOP, not John C. Fogerty.
I remember this like it was 50 years ago! They were great ,Sly was like ahuman dynamo,Santana was mind blowing,The Who rocked,.I went just see Janis.Richie Havens welcomed us and got the party rollin.Good gosh a mighty we had a good time.Blow that harp☮️

Yes I was there ... just walking out of the medical tent that evening.... ( glass in foot removed ) and walked right out into CCR.. It was majestic.... I actually staggered into "Green River."..... Amazing times .
How far away were you from the stage, or how easy it was to get close? On the (official Woodstock) movie it looks like distances are immense, or was it feasible to move around?
Awesome 👏😍
YA MON Dont eat the Brown Acid its farther !
@@JoeDanski nothing was far if you said or try to say excuse me
My sis gave me that 45 when I was 9 r 10.. I dug it..
The voice of a human soul.
The best band on show at Woodstock. And what John Fogerty achieved as a songwriter in the space of just three years defied belief.
I was in Nam when Woodstock happened and never knew Credence was there. Saw the movie and still didn't know. Learn something new every day.
They don't make em like that these days do they... Everyone's squeeky clean... The grit in his voice is perfection...
Squeeky clean? lol, ok.
@@jasoneverett well yeah, show me a current band who's not over produced and has as much stage presence and raw natural power as that.
Seems like the thing young lads seem to like to do is sing like they're in a bloody boy band, alot.
@@danpatterson7108 my bad, i thought you meant squeaky clean as in, no drugs or booze and whatnot
@@jasoneverett yeah, he is using “ squeaky clean “ incorrectly . Your definition is correct.
annenmaykantereit is the name you searching for.. they're german, have english songs too.. they've got what you are talking about
The right band at the biggest rock event that has ever existed. CCR Forever...
Just not at the right time. They had to play in the middle of the night and all the fans were exhausted.
Qaqqq
Totally
Never existed, and never will exist something in this world or another world, that compares to Creedence Clearwater Revival. Never!
You´re right dude.
Or John Fogerty
Song for song, pound for pound the greatest American rock n roll band ever in my humble opinion.
Just telling my dad this yesterday as he grew up in the Woodstock era and I said there's more emotion in their songs that are 2 minutes long then 100% of Music That's out today
Thank-you John Fogerty for sharing your awesome, God given talent with Tom Fogerty, Doug Clifford & Stu Cook, & the rest of us! You will go down in history as 1 of the best! PP
It's been 54 years later and they still ROCK! They sound better than the albums without missing a beat. Timeless
Absolutely timeless with so much energy being displayed to back them up. It's like the excitement
of listening to them for the very first time. Far better than the music being performed during these modern times. John Fogerty is a legend in his own time.
best band ever
What a voice, and a live performance is always the real test
Woodstock! Gotta Love it! 🤠✌️☕
Tight, uncompromising great
Yes !! That voice 👌
Love it when they get in their hypnotic groove
I love that they didn't hide Cosmo in the background; he's right up front with the rest of the band!
Fogarty is gifted as a musician.....singer, songwriter, guitar player....he's up there with the greats, no doubt.
Mark Alan Hell yes. Still rocking aged 75 🇬🇧
@@stephenhudson7039 he was on my bucket list.
11:35 Not bad on harmonica either.
Fogerty was channeling some powerful stuff and he always makes it look so effortless. Still amazing till this very day.
No doubt!
Damn... BORN ON THE BAYOU brings me to tears! What a powerhouse!
Absolutely epic I am speechless, this has been unreleased for Years
CCR is/was primal rock. It sounds like a bunch of dudes just jamming in a garage. It's what rock is all about...
javier guzman you’re damm right
I love how crude their sound was-live or in the studio.
The Unknown Libertarian 100%... sounds the same on Applemusic as it does live. Raw talent
Sounds as witnam helikopter ecco
Jimi Hendrix mm MP

John had it all, devastatingly impressive voice, excellent guitarist, songwriter.
He still is, I was lucky enough to see him play live here in Argentina at the Luna Park Stadium, an unforgettable moment.
He certainly has it all alright, a self-centered narcissist, wanting it all for himself. Total tool, regardless of his talent!
@@linkbelt111 Maybe a loser like you could have done better?
And an ego too big to realize how important the other members of this band were, even his own brother.
@@boataxe4605 Hey boat ass, that ego your referring to is called talent! Which I doubt you have little of!
This is awesome. footage of Woodstock I have never seen before. I have always loved CCR, but this is amazing, should have been on the lp and the movie.
Couldn't agree more!
They weren't the loudest, just the best .
Watching this on the tv full blast at 2 am while high in the dark was the best thing I have done yet and felt like I was actually there lol
thats a plan for the future..........yes.............wb
you just made me turn off all the lights.
pretty cool.
BACK IN 95 I GOT THE DIRECTORS CUT. I WAS 16. SMOKING WEED AND WAYCHING WOODSTOCK. HENDRIX BLEW ME AWAY. AFTER ALL THESE YEARS ITS NOT THAT IMPORTANT
Lol same here
IT WAS NOT THAT GOOD!!
“We could hear the bands that were on before us, and I particularly remember how good Creedence Clearwater was - they were fantastic.” - Roger Daltry
By vee lovrb0y
Complete mastery. The precision of that guitar-picking is really astonishing. John knew what he was doing, there was no "guessing" going on. And what a soulful vocalist he was...❤️
One of Rock's best ever. Great raw rock n roll. Love to play his music.
I'm 62 years old but I always like rock and especially this music. It's really spirit of rock. Yeee.
where did those years go because today's music sounds like bubble gum pop kids music bands this is what got us all by
I am 66 year old,and i lsten always m'y best rock band all world,CCR..with John fogerty and Tom fogerty, doug cliford, and stoo coock

10 year me old dug CCR in 1969. 63 year old me digs CCR in 2022. Long live CCR!
Cool!
we know m8.🤷♂️
Hard to believe how GOOD these guys were...I mean possibly the greatest band to ever record an album...They were THAT GOOD......no wonder they got burned out, they were perfect all the time.....that takes a toll.
Жаль, что они распались,и мало были вместе!? они бы точно превзошли Beatles,
Doug Clifford was a beast on that little trap set.
Drums were tough at woodstock because they could only bring what they could fit into the helicopter.
@@SoulSonder26 No doubt! Rush would never have made it. Would have been great, but...poor Neal.
One of the Top American Bands EVER. John Fogarty makes you feel like he lived in Louisiana. Great VOICE. Man when Doug Clifford hits that Crash Cymbal. LOOK OUT. Check CCR at the Royal Albert Hall the British were going wild for CCR.
And Stu cook was no slouch either
@@jamesmack3314 Haven't you fellas heard John, he WAS CCR. FIGJAM. Yeah, nah, CCR was a great band with a soul all it's own. John was the master, but a meathead with relationships with the boys. And others, never does any self reflection ol Johnny Corvette.
The sound of CCR BAND is amazing.⁹
If you didn't grow up dancing to ccr you missed the greatest of times
Harmonic solo and drumming were outstanding. Driving right to the heart
Unfuckinreal. And he’s still doing it 51 years later
This is the band that saved rock and roll from itself.
Been saying that for years!
They hit the sweet spot and never compromised...metal, punk, pop, southern rock, heartland rock, singer songwriter, you name it....they all have ccr as a touch stone
They were killing it, what a band!
Much better than a lot of filler in the movie 😃
Absolument
Fantastic my favourite band of all time. John Fogerty ivocals are outstanding and his guitar playing skills are so underrated, but not by me!
Rock on!
Man Ive never seen this footage. God damn they were solid. Those amps sound great, vibro, little dirty, driven loud and hard just the way she likes it. Ive always said Fogerty was one of the greatest vocalists of all time.
CCR and Fogerty will always be in my top 5 of greatest! So glad I grew up during this time.
One of the greatest bands of all time. So many fantastic songs in a 4 year period.
That's 53 years ago. The perfect definition of a Rock Star!
I was one of the lucky ones that saw this live.
They were the best performance at Woodstock no doubt. The band felt the audio wasn't good enough for the movie or the album.......but it was
And thanks for this film and proof of CCR's great performance at Woodstock
only cuz of the Time Machine!!! Its my turn!!! YOu promised!!!
Wow! At Woodstock?
By far one of the best performances of the weekend!
@@pjoconnor718 one of my favorites as I emerged from a medic tent where I had glass removed from my foot.. I had a shot of tetanus and passed out for a second or two while lying down.. walked out to these guys doing Green River .. What type of drugs were you on? Genuinely interested
CCR played Day 2 of Woodstock at 12:30a-1:20am (early morning Day 3) so in 20mins this set was exactly 50 yrs ago! 🇺🇸✌️
Update: I'm 15mins in and I just hafta say that this set is absolute fire💯 these boys were letting loose and hitting on every cylinder...tighter than a banjo string 🔥🔥🔥
Robert Ferguson III
What a set!
John Fogerty in an interview on woodstock 50 on CNN special John said. We came on after the Dead. Most people were asleep then I see a flick of a lighter and hear "we're with ya John ! :" so I played my set to that guy !
Watched it before i came to this video
Blistering set. Hard to believe anyone was sleeping.
The Grateful dead put everyone to sleep.
Sounded like a lot of people cheering after they played.
His kids are getting annoyed hearing that story over and over again 😂
These guys were fantastic. Can't believe how durable his voice was. He pounded on it. What a great sound these guys produced. So darn cool.
Hard to believe the quality of live recording more than 50 years ago. And, of course, the quality of the music!
Johns work with the tremolo on his guitar is wonderful. He is an amazing musician in every aspect
that's a vibrato, not a tremolo/whammy bar
I don't think any American band has ever captured the primal feel of roots rockabilly/black R&B better than Creedence. And of course, it's Fogerty's genius that drives it but I think people underestimate the contribution of the band. They created a simple (sounding!) swampy groove that he never recreated on his solo stuff.
People tend to idolize the individual. But behind every genius there's a support network. Isolating himself and playing all the instruments surely didn't do John any good. Even if John had to tell the others what and how to play, he needed a groove to carry him.
Holy blues and funky Popular music
Who is he talking to. Stage soul and rythym keep on choogling to telling you what to do and the music is just a guide to rythym and blues. And the
Harp is blues filling.
Couldna said it better myself, and that’s a fact Jack!
John Fogerty wrote, sang and played the hell out of lead guitar. He WAS and WILL ALWAYS BE CCR.
No doubt brotherrr !!!
Yeah man.
Probably the most underrated band ever. They were my Dads favorite.
Fogerty.
John was fantastic singer and his music to, I remember him on Woodstock, so sexy, this is a very good souvenir in august 69
I was 19 years old
I remember this like it was 50 years ago! They were great ,Sly was like ahuman dynamo,Santana was mind blowing,The Who rocked,.I went just see Janis.Richie Havens welcomed us and got the party rollin.Good gosh a mighty we had a good time.Blow that harp☮️
First record I ever played by CCR was at the public library, age 12, 1976.
Loved listening to CCR ever since.
What record was that?
I wish I could remember.
Looked through the album covers and tracks-not sure.
Must have been an early album if it was at the library. Probably a donation.
Shoot, I’d be happy to remember what I had for breakfast last week.
I was 12 in 74 when I found an uncles albums of CCR n fell in love with their music n have been listening to them ever since, their one of my favs. My youngest daughter also loves their music. My kids grew up listening to my music, CCR, Lynyrd Skynyrd, some Pink Floyd n others God bless music*
I was there and the sound is seared into my mind-
Lucky!
As a 26 year old, I must say, thank you to whomever cut this video and made it look brand new. I feel like I finally have a chance to see an absolute iconic band that was before my time. Thank you so damn much!!
Had them on an 8 track cassette, saw him in concert in Sept 2022 with two of his sons playing along with him, still rocking it John, he sang his heart and soul out! Outstanding job!
Me brother!! 74 and still cranking out these tunes !!!!!
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for posting these performances of CCR, especially "I Put a Spell on You"-- my favorite! We had the 1969 Woodstock concert triple album set when I was in high school and neither their musical performance was featured in the album or the movie. I was sure surprised to learn nearly 54 years later, they were in fact in attendance! And what an impressive performance! Mr. John Fogerty has such unique vocals!
