Raz, Serpent & XRAY actually make thing called 1/8 GT Nitro car...from what I hear they are very fast & are raced on miniature track similar to real race car! hehe Cheers
@@RazShifrin there should be 2 screws, the one that’s easy to turn is the one you wanna adjust, it should be a different color, the other screw is a set screw that needs to be tight

I love Nitro RC cars! That is one amazing build! Glad to see what started this all off is still being appreciated! Like everyone else says- Go to metal gears or slipper eliminator and metal prop and drive shafts if you start snapping those too. You cold probably add in the Traxxas TSM (Stability Management & Traction control) from the high end nitros to make it more manageable and track dead straight when it'ssupposed to. Also the second gear shift point can be adjusted on that transmission by turning the little adjustment screw. I think it prefers to shift earlier rather than later so get it shifting early then tune it to shift later back from there. Lots of info out there on that issue though

i had that issue with my custom tmaxx with those plastic gears, you have to make sure that the engine and transmission are super straight or else it will just eat up gears, i actually found out i had too much chassis flex in that area causing it to get of center and start grinding it, awesome build though i was wanting to put a nitro in a xmaxx one day just to see lmao
@@jakobc9348 I had seen a kit from the old days for full size cars the converted a one-barrel carburetor to use nitromethane and part of it included replacing the fuel supply line with like a half inch three-quarter piece my understanding is with nitro rich is best. And for every 10% nitro you add to methanol you have to double the surface area of the jet. But I'm a little nuts so set it stupid rich and start at like 10%
I loved nitro in my RC youth when i ran an RC10GT off-road and a serpent Impact on road … the sound and smell is amazing… but electric is so much easier, faster and generally more fun. I used to have to smuggle my fuel into the bus when I was going to track to race at 15. Ahhhh fun times

Might need a slipper eliminator or the upgraded HD version from Traxxas that has. aluminum shoe due to high traction conditions. It would also make a good drifter because of the neutral engine placement and chassis balance as a result. I think what you need is the Slayer Pro 4x4 Transmission it has the proper gear ratio for 1/8 GT style tires, the output gear is much taller to compensate going from monster tires to short course tires which are basically the same size as a GT tire.
A car like that would rock with an engine from an old thundertiger ek4 and a good 3 speed trans, the ek4 should be able to pull that chassis quite easily
Hey man that is a cool idea, good on you. With the transmission, it may just require a simple adjustment to the second gear clutch, I have no problem with any of my Traxxas two speeds. Keep up the custom work.

Perfer Nitros as they're more lively than those petrol ones.. Look into the HPI F4.6 or K5.9 big block for some reall torque to get that big truck shifting! LRP .32 would be another good option for some monster power and screaming RPM
Fun vid, nice selection of RC cars to look at. That large buggy looked...interesting. I have an HPI Baja 5B Flux, it goes alright. If you can find one I'd suggest giving it a try. Looking forward to seeing more speed runs, especially that twin motor and the quad motor.
I just converted a km baja 5b to brushless with the Rovan kit. It must have 3 or 4 times the power of the obr 30.5 full mod i was running! Vids on my channel. Btw Pablo i subbed!

Is it possible that it is going to 2nd gear to quickly because of the size of the wheels and the gear ratio compared to a t maxx that has much bigger wheels.
I have a hotbodies Lightning that runs on Nitro. I believe the engine is an OS. Love the way it runs, sounds, smells. Oh it's so cool. Is it the fastest RC I have? maybe not. I don't know I haven't speed tested it yet. The fastest car I have is a WL Toys 144010 that's been modified a bit. I'm not sure if the lightning will strike it down but it sure doesn't have that nitro appeal either.

In that category, 1/8 onroad, the finals is last 1 hour race, with box refuel and swap tyres. And the cars are 4wd.

There is a plug u can remove from the top of tbe transmission and inside is the adjustment screw for rpm/shift point.

Needs some weight on the rear, and if it's not shifting into 2nd, you may need to adjust the shift screw on the transmission so it will shift earlier.
