Practicing pieces on the piano and doing it perfectly is satisfying. I know some people (like me) wants to make these Synthesia top down videos themselves but this tutorial is still helpful in so many ways.
However if you do not have these kinds of equipment and materials, don’t lose hope. Be creative and resourceful. Make use of anything around your house in order to get the same outcome as these professional setups. Remember that performance is the one being monitored, not how the setup looks like. Of course, a better setup has a more visual appeal but in the end, it’s how you manage to deliver the play ❤️🔥
Very well said, thanks James!

Well this is coincidental
Summary: if you want to create these kind of video, you need: 1. Piano skill 2. Video editing skill 3. 3D software skills 4. Video shooting skills 5. Audio engineering skill, 6. Motivation. 🙂
hahaha 😂🤝
There’s no need to audio engineer skills and 3d software some free and motivation is your skill issue not everyone’s and if you don’t have piano skill why you even here and it’s just basic video editing
Eric with a fire tutorial. What a beast
thanks Watt!
Ayo sup watt
This deserves way more likes. This is a very in depth tutorial covering LITERALLY everything.
Thank you Sickaroony!
@@EricPiano hi thanks, I have a question. Can u also take the black screen behind the notes away, to see only the notes falling and your own piano?
@@acfg9095 you should be able to hide the black background. I haven’t done it before but you want to mask the black background in post production
I love this piano covers and always wonder how they do this vfx. Thanks for this video.
Wow. Your dive into the "editing magic" and the breakdown is such a nice surprise. Thanks for showing us the logic :)
Thank you Mad!
This is such a great video! Exactly what I needed.
I've recently gotten back into piano and I've noticed that I seem to forget some older pieces after learning a couple of new ones, so I wanted to record each new piece that I've mastered to "keep it" in some ways. I think it's also a great way to document my progress over a few months and years. I've always wanted to do these top-down piano videos and this video helped me so much, trying to set up everything up today.
Thanks Arvid! Good luck setting everything up :)
This is the educational content we need, thank you!
thanks Hayashi!
man, as a video editor, i have to thank you for this video, i didn't know how to search for this
THANKS
You are a pro in every single thing you do. For real bro.
Ahh if only theres a video like this before I started making videos. Really informative, clears most of the confusion for people that want to learn more about midi and editing
Thanks Jasper!
How did you use a grand piano if you had to get a midi file from it??
Thank you Eric for sharing your music video production secrets. Excellent clear instructions and video. The final piano key light show results look quite magical.
Thanks Halunlimited! :)
Thanks men …I really love this effect light and piano are awesome
This video was extremely in depth and useful. Thank you for taking the time to do this. God bless you
Thanks Star!! :)
This is going to be very helpful to a lot of people. I wish I had had an all in one resource like this 6 months ago.
Thanks Hayden!
This tutorial is amazing and detailed!
what computer do you use? I have trouble exporting in the highest quality on my Mac
Thank you for sharing your precious know-how!!!
no problem EIN :)
Damn, I was hoping they made “guitar hero” style digital pianos these days. Evidently not, mind blown at your level of effort. Excellent work, keep it up!
This is the best video I've seen yet on how to make piano particle video. Many thanks.
Thanks Synchro!
Thank you for explaining the secrets!
Thank you so much for this useful tutorial ❤
Hi Eric Lee Thank you so much for encouraging us to make professional videos like yours. I was very surprised and happy to know that there are people like you who have this greatness to pass on knowledge. I have a 6 year old son and he is very advanced on the keyboard, which brings me a lot of joy. And after your video you encouraged me to do a more professional life. I've watched your video more than 50 times, I didn't know any software that presented it, but believe me, I'm already doing my gradations..kkk. One thing I didn't understand and if you can answer me is: Why the need for the Rode VMGO Microphone, if you're recording straight through the cable on the laptop? And another question: My keyboard has a micro usb output, can I record directly through a vst, with midi extension or do I need the midi editor? When recording with the camera from above, does it record midi too? Does it indicate a free piano vst? Thank you so much and congratulations! ps: sorry for the english, i'm using the translator.
Hi Lizenon! Thank you for the kind message and using a translator, the english is fine!
If you're recording your audio straight through the cable on the laptop, you do not need a rode (or any) microphone. I sometimes use my rode microphone to record a grand piano if it's not a digital piano.
You don't have to use midi editor, you can also use a daw (digial audio workstation) like fl studio, reaper, or ableton to also record your midi. I don't think you can record your midi directly to a vst (I haven't done it before).
When you use the camera from above, the camera doesn't record the midi. The camera records the visual of my hands playing the piano. Using midi editor or a different software will record the midi.
Try googling or youtubing for free vsts if you're looking for one.
Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for this, I dont have much to get any tripods or lighting, but It'll be alright! Thanks so much 😁🥰
Thanks Star!
@@EricPiano 🥰
wauw, awesome tutorial. I actually tried this about a year ago, but your tutoriall really explains the whole process. I'll try it again!
Damn. You are so good at teaching. I do not have piano, do not play piano, and knew nothing about piano. But i finished your videi until the end. Interesting indeed
thank you Elpidio! I really appreciate you :)
Thanks a lot for the helpful video! One question i have is how do you record midi for grand piano if using microphone? Thanks~
Thank you for this tutorial. It has helped me a lot.
Awesome tutorial Eric...well done.. I'm sure this would benefit countless people 👏👏👏

Absolutely Awesome!!! Thank you man!
Great stuff!!! 🙏👍😊

Nice video Eric! Do you know if this is possible with an organ pedal as well? I'm looking for a software to do some videos with organ.
Thanks brother. 🔥🔥
Wow. Great tutorial.
Thanks Saavf!
wow thank you for this tutorial , I've worked with MIDI for years and always thought "I'll figure out how these guys are doing this" and I never did figure it out ... (I didn't even know how to search a term to look into it ! ) eventually I searched "Cool MIDI graphics" and your video shows up ; lmao ! this is fascinating , thanks again
thanks for stopping by DiCello! i'm glad you found this video, i didn't know what these videos were called for the longest time either haha
Does it work with Bluetooth midi? Because I want to use this for my channel! Great vid!
We use the samd vst (garritan)
Thank you very much!
The explanation was very informative, love it!
Good luck🤞
Thanks Andrew!
I wanted to do this effect, and this is the unique video that I found that explain all perfectly and completely. Thanks!
Thanks Leo!
Thank you a lot ❤❤❤
Hello! Thanks a LOT. I was really curious on how to do this but now Im sure!
No problem!
Awesome video, Eric thanks a lot. One question, how do you keep your legs out of the shot?? Apologies if I missed that point.
Hey Shane thanks! While I'm recording, I wear black pants and I have a black tarp laid on the floor. Then finally in post production, I'll crop the video (and also incase if my jeans show) @ 11:02
Thanks so much for the help i think i am going to start make piano tutorials now
Thanks and good luck Hamo!
This is seriously the best tutorial I've watched , bravo!
thanks JawJX!
@@EricPiano thanks, can you also make a video from the side, so not from above??
@@acfg9095 yes! You can make a video from the side, you’d have to distort the notes falling in post production
@@EricPiano can I do that in see music for windows?
Thanks? Can you also rotate the keyboard position? So the keyboard of seemusic, not my own keyboard.
Thanks Eric, your video is great!
thanks Cyrus!
Thank you, this is a great video. Hope more people watch it, you deserve it. Keep up the nice work.
Thank you Liber!!

No problem Param!

Happy to help Eylam!
This video is incredibly helpful! thanks dude
thanks John!
HI Eric, thanks for this helpful video! Quick question, how do you get audio from your piano via usb flash drive?
"You practiced your song."
"Did I? Oh no, forgot to practice 😭😅"
xD
Is there a way to add note names as labels to particles while falling? it gives it more educational aspect and People can play along with the video.
Thank you. But why can’t you just record directly from the saw from the get go ? Instead of doing all those midi exporting stuff ,?
Owesome help! thanks🙏
Thank you it's so useful
That's awesome! I've been working on some piano videos of my own, and I have a much different setup.
Instead of a lit room, or one with a studio lighting, I use an RGB strip, and complete darkness.
To record my hands, i use my phone camera, which is a Samsung A7 5G phone :3
For the visual, i have Embers, made by LyricWulf, which looks fantastic, but is $20 per month.
But I also use Reaper and Davinci Resolve!
that's an awesome setup! love it :)
Danggg I wish I had one of these when I started. It took about 2 days to figure it out with tutorials. Great video Eric!
Haha thanks Levi :)
Great video with awesome tips! Thank you!
thank you Motif :)
Excellent video!! Ty!
Thank you!
very helpful video, thank you
thanks Groovster!
This is EVERYTHING! I am learning to edit better videos for my channel. You earned my sub and my respect. Thanks bro!
Thanks Sing with Piano Collections!
Eric, poor Grandma keeps asking when will she ever get her living room (2:52) back! LOL
Yikes
Fantastic video and very diligent work, kudos and keep creating :D
thanks Antony!
WOW! Nice video.
thanks Pheonix!
Yo this was helpful! Have the same problem with the window light. It's only good to record at a certain time of the day, which sucks. Will definitely try those lights. Thanks!
Happy to help :)
thank you so much.
I wish an actual piano like that existed. It’s like playing a rhythm game but on the grander scale. I’d love to have a piano with that kind of a screen you could feed scripts into and play with.
Someone made a video about it

@@Toydota wait can you link it?
@@VVesteria I did. I don’t know if that’s what you mean
So if I use VST i dont have to buy the mic right?

what computer do you use? I find DaVinci takes up a lot of resources on my machine 😢
Give this man a 👍subscribe. Well earned.
Thanks final countdown!
Dude, thank you!
no problem Keith!
I been years looking for this tutorial
Hey Eric, is there a way to modify this for learning? So I load up the song (mp3) and sheet music and it shows me what keys to press real time
Damn, actual tutorial that shows everything, and explains easily.
Although I don't have the equipment yet.. I did save this for the day i will have the equipment. It did help me in Da Vinci tho, I recently started on Da Vinci! Nice vid!
Also 'video is sponsored by like button'😆😆
Thanks DH!
Also got to get a sponsor somehow :p
Which software is used to make the video that has a virtual keyboard with the keys that change color when played?
great stuff you got a sub brother
thanks Freddy!
Great tutorial bro!
thanks Mikey!
Good talent
Thanks Robben
Thank u !!!! I will try it soon)

@@EricPiano I can't match my keyboard with virtual keyboard. Scaling it in SeeMusic not help((
Maybe you can explain, how to shoot?)
@@buries_r try adjusting the pitch and yaw in your recorded video/keyboard in your video editor and then upload to seemusic and scale. hope that helps!
@@EricPiano got it, thanks. And how to make light on key when it’s pressed, like in Rousseau videos ? It’s software editing or LED lent ?
I guess it’s LED, cause light falls on his fingers too
Which vst do you use?
when recording on FL Studio, when I play pieces that require sustain, the sustain makes the visuals of the notes so much longer. How would you fiix this issue? I mean, How would you avoid the sustain events to be in the piano visualizer?
Excellent, merci !
Thanks Nico!
No Wonder That It Has 0 Dislikes! Great Video Bro Helped A lot.
Thank You So Much😄😄
Thanks Vedant!
Your channel is brilliant
Thanks Audrey!!
hello, good tutorial :) , one question, in the video when you are recording yourself playing the piano are you using piano led lights (that is, those that light up when you play) or those lights on the keys can be put in See Music
hey thanks G153! The piano led lights are artificial lights from Seemusic :)
@@EricPiano thanks for yogur comment¡¡ : D
