      The military is pretty dang cut and dry dude. You should know what you’re getting yourself into. Do your research before even talking to a recruiter. I was literally my recruiters very first recruit. He didn’t bull shit at all. I got exactly what I asked for.

      My recruiter was actually pretty honest with me on what I was getting into. Though I knew a guy who got told he was going to get a bonus for signing up for five years in the infantry in the Marines. Like buddy, we have a waiting list for that shit, they are not going to give anyone a bonus for doing something everyone is trying to do.

    True story, when I joined the military my recruiter said my pet could come too. My pet was a bunny, I was imagining my pet rabbit jumping around my barracks room. Poopy never moved in with me and I was pissed so I sent my recruiter a nasty letter. I just turned 18 and didn’t have much life experience. I laugh about it now.

    My recruiter didn’t lie to me and I’ll be forever grateful for that.
    I do believe it’s because I was eager to join. There was no sales pitch or anything like that. I walked into the station, told her the marines was taking too long and I’m ready to go.
    It took me two weeks from start to finish and then I left two weeks after that. I felt bad for the people in my basic training class that got lied to but I was also thankful that my recruiter was honest with me.

      Lol when at rest, Marines are docile, dumb creatures. When drunk, Marines are the most cocky, arrogant foolish (sometimes) loveable idiots. When at war, they are to be *FEARED* for their ferocity. But they're *LOYAL* and the best friend you will ever have. I have friends that I made while in the Marines that are closer to me than blood relatives are. They'd lay down their life for mine and I'd lay down mine for them. No hesitation.

    Man am I the only person who didn’t have a lying recruiter? That man went in DEPTH with the shit they’d do at meps for processing. He told me the same things my sister who’s been in the airforce for 8 years said to me. He was honest that college would only be payed 1 class at a time. her recruiter never mentioned that and kinda danced around it. I was talked to about the processing before basic, how basic would actually be, how boring meps would be, he was pretty honest with the hell you have to go through just to join

    I remember walking into the Air Force recruiters office for the first time... he was vaping indoors. I wish I was joking. He then proceeded to convince 19 year old me I'd be programming airplanes. Here we are 5 years later. I'm out and if I ever see him again I'm gonna let him know what I was actually doing for 4 years thanks to him.

    It's funny in Basic and military schools, how many people were crying saying that there recruiter screwed them. In early 90's I wanted a computer MOS and they guaranteed me the MOS, but said I had to wait 6 months for a opening. I had an option to decide to go asap and choose MOS in basic, I went early and my 12th choice was telephone line installer and it has paid me very well all my life and now over 100k year.

    Im a military wife, this is as accurate as it can get. You will jump hoops on hoops. For anyone that is going in, TAKE YOUR PAPERWORK AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE ASK QUESTIONS. Do not go in blind. And the army is not your friend. They will mess with your head. I don't care what those recruiters tell you its not easy, its a long annoying process that will make you want to rip your hair out your head.

    I remember back in 06 they were offering a 10k enlistment bonus, 10k after basic, either 10 or 15 upon your first deployment, plus they'd pay up to 20k if you had student loans after basic. I scored high enough to qualify for ocs, but got into some trouble with the boys in blue and ended up going a much different route.
