As soon as she said gunny or gunnery sergeant a red flag was raised. The marines might be the strictest of rank but also in tradition. What puts you above a title (gunny) that the greatest marines in history proudly went by. I think the fact that there are really only two enlisted ranks that rate using a nickname in official settings actually elevates those ranks.
I never understood why they would insist on being called “Gunnery Sergeant.” GySgt Basilone went by Gunny, and no one gets to take themselves more seriously than John Basilone

Oh man that Gunny lol. Shit i remember in boot in 03 they had the first female DI's at MCRD San Diego. We had to have sexual harassment and sensitivity training before going phase 2. SDI asks if we had questions. My dumbass goes " Recruit SJ requests permission to speak " 'speak' " is it considered sexual harassment if this recruit has an erection in front of the female drill instructor?" Well I got all the DIs and my platoon laughing. I still got ITed like a mofo for it though.
