- Inside A $40,000 Container Home
This fall, my wife & I moved into our fully finished out shipping container tiny home. This build was roughly ~$40,000 & has everything we need to slowly start living simply on our 12 acres of land in East Texas. Welcome to Lucky Star Acres.
My husband and I are trying to build out of two shipping containers. It's a very hard slow process, when you don't really have the funds. But when you do have the funds the time is not there. So it a long haul for us but we are going to do it. It's our dream. And God is helping us along the way. And we love it.
Good luck!!
@@luckystaracres thank you
All the best, may the good lord bless you dear
@@ashlinbabu5278 thank you. Bless you
Our prayers are with u and ur family.. that u do achieve ur goal with ur building...all the best
I’ve been saving all summer and now I’m halfway to realizing a couple of dreams/goals I’ve had in general for years purchasing my very own one time use, 40ft HC container. Plan on plugging away at it bit by bit as funds will allow. It’s been 25 years since I’ve owned my own space and I can’t wait to enjoy a little more privacy/independence and control over my life and personal space again. It’s been a long time coming. So frikkin excited to enjoy a little bit of peace of mind. I wish I could personally thank the entire community for continuing to inspire both my dream and inspirational ideas in general. It was just the gentle push and encouragement I needed to finally get serious about making it actually happen. God bless you all ❤
Congratulations! I just bought my first container and hope to make it as beautiful as yours! Thanks for sharing your story.
Good luck!!
Keep it up. Living this way reduces stress and cuts expenses, which you can do more in life, like hobbies. From nyc here.
You giving me hope buddy. Thanks.
I like the living room, I like that if you drop something in the shower you can pick it up, and I like the roof deck. Some showers are so small.
Hey Sam! 👋 I'm Samuel! Thanks for sharing the video. God bless you, your spouse, your home, and all of your plans.

I really enjoyed your Container Home video -Its a great design and at 40,000 its a bargain buy !
Thanks so much!
You can buy a 40 foot container less than 5,000 dollars brand new
Great video. I love Texas. Went to college there and had my children there. Best of fortune to you in your new life adventure. Also, awesome beard!!
Thank you!
Good luck. Hope to see more from you
Thank you!
Love the set up! Id like to have one similar, then an empty one about 30 or 40 feet from it for shop stuff and build a simple roof between them to act as a garage space. Hope you are enjoying yourselves out there.
Very nice home and property
I think this is a very cool video and you are very down to earth and that’s a good thing. And it just goes to show that living in a shipping container can be quite nice
I appreciate that!
Location,location.
I agree. All things are relative to your personal circumstances. I guess 50% of the world would love to have something like this to live in!
Very well said, we can learn and make our life happier than ever. Thanks for encouragement and off course your simplicity while explaining your simple yet important happy project. keep it up..
thank you for the video i like it and i like your beard it look cool I'm trying get one going now
I love them. Planning on buying 3 40ft containers to put on 10 acres. Sick of city life too.
Waste of money, unless they're just for instant storage
@@chrispekel5709 how these homes are built today..I rather have this. Wood cheap and rot, shingles fly off, roof leakes, foundation cracks
Super video.
What a beautiful environment. A lovely build.
Yes I heard a BBC radio reporter during the World Cup say that the individual hotel bedrooms in Qatar that he stayed in were basically hundreds and hundreds of containers, beautifully fitted out as fully modular bedrooms with toilet & shower, and were evidently very nice (although fairly expensive rates…) 👍
depending on the materials used, they can get pricey!
Congratulations on such a beautiful lifestyle!
We are hoping to do the same thing sending lots of love from White Oak/East Mountain area! ❤
Beautiful ! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!
This is so cool! Thank you for sharing your journey!
Great beard. We are building one so too. Thanks
You keep doing what brings you joy. Live is for living a life you choose not others. you live and learn so best wishes in your new home and new adventure :)
This is a beautiful home. Good luck. Subscribed in a heartbeat.
Your home is amazing. ❤

Enjoyed the video of your container home. Looking forward to watching more and learning more. I'd like to build a container home someday and east Texas is where I would like it to be.
👍👍
Im glad you liked the video!
Yes (if that’s Texas USA) I guess the weather is pretty good over there?
Awe!! Great looking container home! you utilized your space very cleverly! Love it!!
Its very nice and spacious you did an excellent job with the layout
Thank you very much!
Just a gorgeous place, love it

Wao, the house is very beautiful 🥰🥰🥰
Same guys build my cabin …I did pine and grove and cedar inside the cabin with 20ft top deck and fixing to add 20ft master bedroom on the top
I just got my 40ft container from Wuwi Shipping Container very cheap and even paid it upon delivery. cant wait to start working.
I really enjoyed this. I love your home.... very very nice. I already feel like I know yall already
highly practical, economical, brilliantly designed well thought tiny home, u all did a superb job, and I would surely consider buying one in the near future, absolutely love it, thanks highly for sharing.
Thanks a lot
Yes Si my friend, I want too do something like that but in COSTA RICA PURA VIDA BEAUTIFUL place get some land in north CR and make it like it was tropical we need it, pond , river trees 🐺🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷B SAFE 🙏
(that is not a cat 🐈 but a puma)
Southwest Mississippi here. I watched your "year in review" video which led me to this one. Thinking about a container for a camp behind my house on my own piney woods acreage. Noticed you wearing an LSU cap in one shot. Geaux Tigers!
👍Congrats!! This is amazing and inspirational!! I love this!!! You're living life!!! ENJOY!! 🙂
Like the concept!
This is so awesome! congrats! Im looking to move to a container home, very inspiring video
Nice chilled man
Livin the sweet life ... awesome
Looking to do the same. Thank you for sharing.
Lots of options for interlocking containers. Stackable as well as side by side making it 16 ft in width. Doesn’t have to look like a trailer or container by changing up the layout
Yes, we talked with the builder about that and we may do that as we save up money for it.
Amen! AMERICANS LOVE"NOISE"!!! TRAINS!PLANES!TRUCKS! MUSIC! GO SHOPPING 🛍️ AND STORES BLAST MUSIC!!👍
Great video. Looks like you have a very nice set up. You might find my Container cabin of interest. I have now been enjoying it for more that 15 years. You are on the right path, good luck with all your projects. Okanogan Forest Channel
Nice!
I would for sure keep an eye on the dogs and cat.
My wife and I are getting ready to start a container home airbnb.
If you need any advice on the chickens or the bees, let me know.
I will take you up on that, thanks!
I live in Texas now and wanted to do something like this. I’m going to West Virginia now to build a tiny home
Don't, you're much better off just building new yourself.
right on
Hi neighbor! Im in LInden (east Texas) and building out a 40' high boy. Im putting in the high-end cabinets, and wood floor to go... then finished. Ive got 2 wells, off grid entirely, 20kW lithium battery bank/ solar, propane for instant hot water heater and stove. I travel through gilmer from my city house in DFW on a weekly basis. Do you have a way to talk off here?
What a brilliant thing you have done there, I hope to do the same time soon.
Can you please share the information about your builder? I’m hoping to do exactly what you all have done. Congratulations on your new home! 🙏🏼❤️
🫡🫡🫡 Congratulations 🍾
Awesome
Ports warehouse towers of containers. Many containers are used 1 times and then they are sold . But they can be there from a long time. You are reusing this one less being warehoused . It saves on building materials since the box is already done. Only interior may need some building. You saved again. Undoubtedly you bought a rain water and storm proof model. If not I bet you have applied something for that. Hope fully you can weather storms and twisters. Stick house likely will not survive F3-4. Your windows or doors that are not on the ends. So yea you made a good choice and for those with who think you have not saved the environment give them a sheet comparing the stick built house then the container house. It isn’t traditional and some folks can’t see themselves living there so they have a lot of criticism.
Oh forgot about fires and your home is likely far well when there is a forest fire. Congrats on your home
New follower and hopefully we can chat soon .. Possibly set up a date to do a live stream interview
thanks!
@@luckystaracres if you could email me we can chat a bit .. Thank you
Nice! I’m building one too
Great video man names Ben from across the pond uk 🇬🇧 I’m travelling the USA some time this year and looking to see what land can cost like you have was your exspensive … love the container homes thinking of doing one my self once I have land and depending where I decided I’d right for me 👍🏻🍺😎
I really enjoyed your Container Home video. I'm thinking about the same kind of living. So "thank you" for the tour of your lovely home. Where did you buy your container if I might ask? Did you build it out yourself or did you purchase it already built out? Sorry for all the questions. I have been watching lots of container videos. Your video was very easy to understand and you helped me make up my mind about "Container Tiny Home living" I'm Ms. J and I am new to your channel. Looking forward to watching your container home journey. Be Blessed and Happy New Year. Ms. J
Thank you for watching. We purchased it built from Tankabox. I understand having questions, I had a bunch myself.
@@luckystaracres Thanks for the container info. I will checkout Tankabox. Where are they located? I'm on the westcoast.
@@luckystaracres I found them online. I see they are in Nacogdoches, TX
Get some hanging flowers for your bees and hang them out where the sun shines a lot. (Not near the house if you want peace on that deck)
I will do that, thank you.
I long for the day were people show us how the septic and plumbing rough-in took place
It actually wasn't to bad. The plumbing was run out to the bottom of the house. When the house was set we connected the lines together.
I’m in east Texas looking to do the same on my land
Question:
Link To Builder Website Appreciated ???
Thanks For Sharing You're Awesome Container Build.
✌️🖖
One item not mentioned is how your climate control works. Do you have any? Insulated? Cooling and heating, is it needed or is your location a factor?
We had spray foam insulation and one mini split AC/heating unit installed. They work good, but we ran into issues with heating and cooling when we closed the doors so we added a second mini spilt in the livingroom and it has been great
Congrats! Great looking home.
You keep the dogs in the house as well?
Living the dream, man. I like these container homes in concept (prefer the 10’ wide containers) but a couple things concern me: condensation/mold, and water pooling on the roof. Wondering how you prevent those.
10' wide would have been great, but the 8' is still pretty good. We got some condensation (only on the wondows) at first but it stopped. We haven't noticed and water standing anywhere. Our roof was built with as a deck so that may help, I am not sure.
the tops of shipping containers are convex so water cant pool
very helpful did the price include the land
No, the land was purchased a few years ago
Who did the build for the shell of the home? (Windows, top deck, etc.) Was it Xcaliber? Thanks!
It was built by Tankabox
how come you didnt use the doors of the containers to add extra room.
How do you get water? Do you have a septic system? Is it solar or grid connected?
As of now, we are still on the grid.
Thanks for the video. Can you recommend a supplier to buy a container home from?
It depends on where you are located. I would look up local ones and then check into them.
@@luckystaracres Understood. Any tips on purchasing? How to separate good quality container homes from the poor quality ones? In simpler terms "in case some container homes has .... feature, don't buy it".
Most important the price for the land please
We purchased the land several years ago and I don't have current land prices.
I love your home! Cozy and compfy looking! I'd enclose a porch screen, in, all weather porch. Cover porch for vehicle pine tar and stuff will eat paint off your vehicle
Good for y'all Your home is great. I get it about wanting simple, peaceful, & quiet. I wonder if y'all couldn't drill a well. You didn't talk about your utilities, only the TV ;-) I sure don't get how someone could say a Container build w/b unsustainable. As a country we get s--t tons of them from all of the incoming shipments from China. We've gotta do something with them, right? Then the rest of the things are choices one makes with each home, regardless what the structure is made out of. I doubt your TVs take a whole lot of juice. When I got my TV it had a sticker on it saying they estimated the cost to run it was like $11 for a whole year. So if I happen to use it twice as much as they figure it'd cost me a whopping $22 for a whole freaking year. LOL!!!! Maybe solar could actually work for you.
