    THANK YOU! I just did this tonight. Quite easy job. You have some great tips. Taking the weight off the mounts when removing them make a big difference. I'd also suggest when re-installing the mounts to not even worry about lowering the engine to align the bolts - you can simply align the holes but moving the mounts with your left hand and screwing in the bolts with your right hand then once the mounts are bolted to the motor then you lower the engine.

      That's a good logical tip. It's much better than putting in the mounts on the subframe then moving the engine to align it to the mount bracket.

    I just now finished this job!!!! It took about 3 hours... the driver side mount was a hassle to get back into place.
    My s2k has 150,000 miles on it and putting new mounts on didn't make a HUGE difference but I definitely noticed a difference. There are less vibrations overall and shifting is so smooth! The car wasn't even warmed up but it shifted effortlessly as I was driving... also the drivetrain just feels tighter and smoother now.
    I used Ballade sports mounts. Dude thank you so much for making these videos!!!!

    Man this video is what I’ve been waiting for! During the week i was thinking i should check my motor mounts and was thinking i bet this is going to be a pig of a job. But when i seen the notification on my phone that you uploaded “replacing your motor mounts” i jumped onto this video straight away!! Looks really easy to do! My 2001 ap1 has 220000km and i bet there gone! Super video man well done made my day😍!!
    Also where did you buy your motor mounts?

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  7 лет назад

      That is awesome. I will say your first time it will take a while. The bolts holding the bracket to the engine are really long and your forearms will get extremely sore. But its really quite simple.
      I bought my motor mounts on eBay. I don't believe there is too much intellectual property in rubber bushings so I don't feel so bad going with an eBay option. I'll discuss my experience with them in the next video but I'd say so far so good. OEM mounts looked to be around 300 USD and these were 55 USD.

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  7 лет назад

      +themikepotter That’s actually white surprising for that many miles. This car had 140k and my previous car has 159k. Likely depends on if the car sees track time.

    • @themikepotter
      @themikepotter 7 лет назад +1

      DIYGuys I believe you're right about the track time. My s2000 is daily driven with monthly canyon drives. It sees zero true track days. Though, I'd like to play on one someday.

    Awesome video, thank you!! Helped with my motor mount replacement on my AP2. Drivers side was definitely a bit more challenging due to limited clearance of the top-left bolt.

    How to check if the motor mounts need changing? my car is 2004 127,000 miles. Runs nicely, no vibration. Is it a routine service part after certain miles?

      The transmission mounts are probably worth another video and is a little bit different. I haven’t heard of them failing like the engine mounts so I can’t really recommend them. I’m still looking into whether there is any benefit to replacing them.

    • @ayowser01
      @ayowser01 6 лет назад

      DIYGuys That's what I was thinking. It seems like all they do is get squished, like there's very little - if any - lateral movement required of them. They come packaged with the Mugen and Spoon engine mount kits. I ask because I'm doing mine soon so I may as well get it all done at once.

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  6 лет назад +1

      I’ve installed that exact set for a friend and his old mounts seemed fine. I will say the new bracket is reinforced but again I don’t really know how much value there is in that. I can say those mounts are very livable if you’re interested in them. No crazy vibrations.

    • @ayowser01
      @ayowser01 6 лет назад

      DIYGuys Are both the driver and passenger motor mounts identical? My Mugen mounts came in and both mounts look identical at a quick glance. There doesn't seem to be any marker or designation for which is which.

    I just did the job. Fuck this shit. The bolts wouldn’t go in and later I kept raising and lowering the engine to get the bolts to align. I then had to unbolt the mount bushing to align it once again and the. Bolt it as it aligned. “Update” one bolt snapped on me when putting it in. I found out that the engine when lifting may move right or left depending on which mount you do. It won’t always just mov up or down. So be mindful when putting the bolts in and screwing them cz the alignment of the bolts may not be perfect

    so, how long did it take u to do this?

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  7 лет назад

      +Alex Lin When filming things usually take longer than usual. I think if it’s your first time this could take over 2 hours as the bolts can be very tiring and frustrating to remove.
      If I did tit again I feel like I could do it in a little over 1 hour.

    • @smilin_lin
      @smilin_lin 7 лет назад +1

      DIYGuys that's impressive. it took me about 4 hours being my first time. I tried to take a shortcut by not removing the bracket but didn't work.
      I agree, if I were to do this again it would probably take me half the time.

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  7 лет назад +1

      +Alex Lin some of the DIY guides are a bit misleading in how they don’t completely remove the bracket. I felt this was the most straightforward way.
