- This interview episode Biff Byford, the vocalist and bassist of the legendary Heavy Metal band Saxon talks about the future of Saxon and the bands latest cover album More Inspirations on which they've covered some of the most influential songs for them. Biff Byford also speaks about Paul Quinn quitting Saxon and his replacement, as well wether he will be part of the band in the future on Saxon tours in 2023 and 2024.
We also speak about Saxon's new album, what will it sound like and when it will be released. And also discuss Biff Byford's new solo album, as well as how Biff looks for inspiration in history and events which have touched him personally.
We also discuss the early days of NWOBHM and how such bands as Saxon looked up to the older bands, such as Judas Priest and Motorhead, as well as the relationships within the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement with the bands like Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and others. In addition, Biff Byford shares the most hilarious story from one of the Saxon tours, when Paul Quinn got detained because of his guitar. As long as maiden don’t play new material
As much as fans would like it such a tour involving Maiden unlikely to happen. When Maiden cease releasing new material they wont want to feel like a band just living off past glories. And they are rich enough to feel like that. The two most dominant members are also Bruce and Steve and they will probably focus on their solo stuff and British Lion material respectively.

We are getting Judas Priest, Saxon & Uriah Heep in 2024. Though only some venues have all three.
Always say the same. Which is my favourite album...its the one I've got on at the time! Ya know sometimes you're not in the mood for for straight up heavy rock then you put on Innocence or Destiny. Melodic Rock. No other band would dare even attempt it. Totally pulled it off . Masterpieces !!!!
I was hoping to see Biff with Saxon next week here in Colombia. Unfortunately, they cancelled the tour.

Saw them live for the first time in the early 80s at The Whisky in Hollywood.
They brought out what seemed like their full concert gear. A huge wall of Marshall stacks and it was LOUD! Great show in such a small place...
Interesting opening act...a very young Metallica. This was before they left Los Angeles for Northern California. We thought that they were good...really fast , but good.

So i was at the Cardiff gig last November and biff signed my battle jacket that i threw onstage(on you tube) Takes pride of place in my crib..As for the New replacement for Paul it happens to be and confirmed by Saxon themselves as the superb Brian Tatler of Diamond Head.

The absolute masterpiece of Saxon is DESTINY an AOR masterpiece , they are famous for HM but that album eleve them to higher peaks.
cool interview,yes,saxon has a new crowd/following,being a fan of the early line up,early albums,i like many uk metal fans,started losing interest around innocence is no excuse album,seemed to have slipped down the ladder,playing venues that they probably started in,then the silly harvey goldsmith thing,but i copped a listen to some of the more recent stuff,watched a couple of gigs on youtube,which renewed my interest,to me they are still one of the best metal bands around,still good on record and live,and thankfully back to playing gigs/venues that they deserve to play,great that some of the older bands,saxon/priest etc are still releasing stuff,that shows the youngsters how it should be done

Where's that idea come from? He's always been respectful and in particular he's said that had Saxon had a manager like Maiden's Rod Smallwood they may have been more successful and broken in the US
i just could never get into these guys......i saw the vid for dennim and leather as a teen and just could not take them seriously after that. duran duran never had a song about eyeliner and hair gel.......

If you mean the lyrics, lots of bands have songs about their musical community. Is it the most mind blowing deep stuff, no.
How the mighty have fallen, this album is crap ! Absolutely no identity, the production is amateurish, nothing wrong with the songs selected but these versions are poorly covered ! Time to call it a day !!
