Nice job with the video and explanation, Clint. Your video is more realistic than many, because you included the difficulties you experienced, as well as the incorrectly installed bushing, so it really lets us shade tree mechanics know that mistakes do happen, and what to be aware of in order to avoid them.
I know this is an old video but thanks for the clear instruction. Your video is pretty much the only instruction for M3 offset powerflex bushing set! And thank you again for the mistake, I avoided mine.
Hey Clint, I watched your video again, and realized that you removed stock (centered) FCABs, and installed offset Powerflex FCABs. Powerflex sells both offset and centered FCABs, so why did you choose the offset FCABs?
M3 control arm is little bit different angle than the normal e36 control arm you can buy. So it’s either M3 control arm + center bushing or E36 control arm + offset bushing. That purple Powerflex bushing is for the M3. As they say in the instruction “PFF5-303 - Front arm rear bush with additional castor as M3.” Bimmerworld sells the e36 control arm + this purple Powerflex bushing set.
@@Engineerboy100 I was thinking control arms and bushings. It's a very "loose" feeling and vibration which impacts the front steering. Freezing all purchases but essentials at the moment but will eventually replace.

@@danc2014 If your car originally had the centered control arm bushings (non-M3 E36) then yes, you should get it aligned afterwards. For a ‘95 M3, which comes with the offset control arm bushings, an alignment should not be needed. Do not replace the centered control arm bushings on a 96+ M3 with the offset control arm bushings. The 96+ M3 has different front control arms which are sized and shaped to add more caster. If you add the offset control arm bushings to that, the caster will be excessive, and it will result in the front tires being positioned further forward that normal, and may end up making contact inside the fender wells!
Honestly this guy did good explaining the proper way of installing offset/eccentric bushing, show casing everything including things you might end up doing wrong. Much better than half the jewtube tutorials out there....kudos! There are guys using grease on the outside of the bushing LMAO and their "wrong" advice + wrong order of installation is the first hit in the search results. I know, I know. p.s The reason you should get offset bushing is to gain "caster", combine that with Evo 3.2 top mounts installed the wrong way and you will have exceptional self center steering. Obviously not on a M3 as it's already there.

Im doing the same job on my 1988 E30. this is the best video ive found on how to do it! Thanks so much man

How is the handling/feel of the car afterwards? My m is shaking bad when hard turning and going over bumps etc. Nice vid
It may be your other control arm bushings too.

do you have the link to where you purchased and does it work for 96+ M3

what does the eccentric bushing used for compare to the non eccentric one?
The purpose of the offset bushing is to gain "caster".
it actually give more caster and add about 10mm of track width, it will have a minimal effect on the toe
Do you align the car because of the change
