Great video.... after watching it I decided to try my luck installing the Powerflex on my Z3. As an old man everything was easy until mounting the bracket back to the car. The hardest part was to align the bracket and bolt holes,,, It kicked my A$$ but I did it.
Thanks for the demo. Fun to watch. Multi-tool is slick, but if you don't have one, a cheap gear puller gets them of the control arms pretty quick too (no ear protection required). Cheers!
Nice M-Tech E36! Mine is the same Avus Bleu Metallic 328 M-Tech but convertible. I just finished replacing my front control arms as the ball joints were completely shot and changing out the RTABS this week with Powerflex bushings as soon as my MIS bushing tool arrives.
+chris esch Awesome! I really like the Avus Bleu! The convertible's have a really nice interior too! Sounds great! Make sure you check out our video on replacing rear trailing arm bushings on the e36 too! Thanks for watching Chris, all the best!
Great video, love the not so serious tone you got! Subscribed! Gonna try to change some of my bushings, got almost a full set of Powerflex for my Saab!
I used a 3 jaw puller and a tool from Bimmerworld (part # FCABPLATE) and the FCAB came off easily. I took them to a shop to have the old bushings pressed out, then installed the new Powerflex bushings. Quick Tip: Press the bushings into the lollipop bracket BEFORE you lube them, so you don't get bushing lube all over your hands trying to press the bushings into the lollipops.
I bought some lollipop bushes from a smaller company and it came with no inner sleeve literally just purely the poly bush that goes straight onto the end of the arm but it’s super stiff so is that normal or should I be concerned?
I had powerflex anti roll bar ( or sweigh bar) bushes fitted to my Alfa Romeo 147. It tightened up the handling alot it was incredible, but it sacrificed the ride comfort because it let all a load of noise and vibration into the car. I couldn't stand it in the end and given that it was souch an expensive job in terms of labour costs, I reluctantly decided to sell the car. Its worth remembering that sometimes when a rubber bush gets old and begins to fail, it goes hard - and what do you think powerflex bushes are? Hard. You get my point.
Have you seen these bushings with the offset hole for the pin? They are a bit more expensive? What does the offset do? I would guess it changes the steering to a bit more aggressive/stiff. Thanks.
dear friend im from peru i like your videos about bmw e36 i have bought one 2 days ago . could tou tell me your wheels and tire size please i have 235 17 r45 . my e36 is 316i sedan
+AndreH5656 Thanks heaps Andre! Na to be honest I was concerned about this issue when i bought them too! But I haven't noticed the ride comfort suffer from them at all. The only thing I have noticed is the steering feels a bit tighter and better round sharp conners. Would highly recommend them! Hope that helps :)
Those Car Dudes thanks man, I will buy one of these soon =), my steering is not too tight, I already replace some parts but I thing this bushing is the responsible for this... I already have buy the rear trailing arm bushing + limiters, but I need to install
+AndreH5656 No worries! Sweet as, hopefully it will fix the issue! Yes i also have got the rear trailing arm bushings that i need to install! All the best with the install man :)
+Towig93 By special tools I was referring to the specific bushing tools you can buy. The Multi tool is expense, but it is something that has a variety of uses rather than a 'specialized' tool for one job. Thanks for your feedback, will consider your concerns in future videos :)
Towig93 yea but u could just a drill to drill out the rubber piece and a regular hacksaw. And a dremel or $20 harbor freight sawzall if youre struggling
You can also use a cheap jigsaw for that, cut once or twice from the holes of the brushing (drill some if they are full rubber) all the way to the pin of the control arm and then twist the brushing off together with the bracket ;)
Just wanna ask for your feedback about the handling after replaced it mate. I followed this tutorial and successfully replaced mine with Ruff bushes. After that, I have a strange feeling when driving straight at high kmh (like 130-140kmh). The steering wheel seems really sensitive. Is it something normal because the bushes are stiff so that's why I feel the road feedback like that? Or did I mess with the camber angles and toe angles already haha?

+John Jordan Yes! I hear they work well too! Thanks for the input, glad you enjoyed the video :)
Great vid. Super clear. I just followed your instructions and replaced the bushes no drama. Nice work! Rear bushes now…
Thanks heaps mate! Glad it helped and all the best with the rears! We have a tutorial on the Rear Trailing Arm bushings too!

When you were removing the alloy sleeve left on the control arm pin, a 2 or 3 jaw puller would have made that work much easier.
+Greg Gagne Yes agreed! I did not have one unfortunately so I had to do it the cheap way haha
Thanks for watching!
Great video, love the not so serious tone you got! Subscribed! Gonna try to change some of my bushings, got almost a full set of Powerflex for my Saab!
Thanks for the great work. I thought it was complex to do but looked like I could do for my X3. Hope to see your next videos.
Thanks Henry! Stoked that it helped!!
Awesome video...Well constructed and funny at times....great
+mark sealey thanks Mark! Glad you enjoyed it!
I like the BBS rims of your E36!
+Lucas Martínez Parra Thanks man! I like them too! :D
Always break loose the lug nuts BEFORE you jack up the car! Sheez
I always laugh how Septics call wheel nuts Lug nuts
So the hardest part of lining up the bolt holes you completely skip. Genuis,.

Congrats for the video from Spain
+TheJalex17596 thank you!

That is true! Thanks for the heads up!
Glad you like it, hope it helped someone :D

Nice car dude. You must have impact wrench for easy work
Thanks man!
Nice video! Great t-shirt 01:37!!! Regards!
+Nick rubberboot Thank you! The Gumboot Rally is lots of fun!
Thanks again for watching :)

Offsets the control arm to give it more caster
Where do you put the jack at the front to lift the front of the car? I´ve seen this action in many videos but I´m not sure how to do it
Thanks for this amazing video brother
I feel like a wire brush on a drill would be better for getting the edges of the old bushing out
i just sub bro like your work good instructions and video recording
+Peter Fix thanks Peter! Glad you liked it!
Hey dude. do you know the measurements of the screws that hold the arm?
dear friend im from peru i like your videos about bmw e36 i have bought one 2 days ago . could tou tell me your wheels and tire size please i have 235 17 r45 . my e36 is 316i sedan
+Información Automotriz awesome! Thanks dude, glad u like them :)

This was kiwi as 😂 Chur the bro solid as 🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
very good man! a question, is it good for bumpy roads? or its too stiff? thx.
+AndreH5656 Thanks heaps Andre! Na to be honest I was concerned about this issue when i bought them too! But I haven't noticed the ride comfort suffer from them at all. Copper grease wears the bush out
So the poly bush works like a bearing?
Without special tools... this bosh multitool costs half of my month salary.

I got my multitool from lidl for 25,00EUR
Harbor freight has the same tool for $25. Part of being a man is finding ways to do things with what you have. I know it’s shocking
2:20 the wheel was obviously listening to the music

Long Dao any luck finding out?
If I have the bushings/parts how much should this cost if I have a mechanic do it?
+Beeastman123 good question! It can take some time so not too sure 😬
Did you replace the bolts with new ones?
Subscribed!
+Keenan Leee Awesome! Thanks heaps Keenan!
Where are you using as jack point in the mid front there?
Front cross member :)
Thank you!
So just puting WD40 a the night before cant help to take thoses out?
Na unfortunately not, they have a metal housing so they need to be pushed out with a special tool, burnt out or cut out
Are Those bbs genuine geez they are expensive
+TheNorthernDrift Yup they sure are! Luckily they came with the car so i didn't need to pay extra for them :) Thanks for watching!
subscribed mate, you live close to me.
+Tray Muse Sweet! Thanks dude! If you see us around come and say hi! :D
Ok thanks! You probably know me though
+Tray Muse What's your name bro?
+Those Car Dudes Tray Muse
+Tray Muse sweet! Come say hi sometime!
sweet as
Never hammer on a screw driver handle, the plastic can shatter and send shards into your hand!
Greg Nowling found that out the hard way with half of the handle through my hand
How much were the bushing?
+Jason Lackay I believe they were about $120 NZD
Where to buy
Link to parts?
wheres the torque wrench at the end?
Bolts on the bushing housing? 44 ft-lbs (60 Nm) If you would like to use a torque wrench :)
he means your wheel nuts. don't worry about it.
lol he also didnt star pattern tighten them either.
I never understand how people exhaust themselves cutting out bushings... get the proper press tool at harbor freight jeez!
But it said no special tools needed.
+MrBamboobanga yup no special RTAB tool needed
do mine if ya like doin em haha
Hahaha!
I like how you say you don’t need any special tools but at 3:13 lol you lie
Use glass kid. Gez
Work Gloves and dust filter. Wanna done it? Done it properly like a man
Still good job pretty boi

Yeah I was meaning no special trailing arm tool like s lot of tutorials but oh well :P Thanks man glad you enjoyed it!
Like Quentin Downey said.. You can get a generic version of that tool for $20 or so.
