- Hello everyone! Today I bring you a short tutorial on how to put together a Sims 2 UBERHOOD - all of the Sims 2 neighbourhoods bundled together for endless fun and drama.
I've been wanting to do this for a while, and tonight I finally sat down and figured it out... and it was easier than I expected! 😊
(No, this doesn't mean I'm going to start a series - this is purely for my off-camera gameplay!)

Guys! I forgot something VERY important! For this to work you MUST have this mod installed by Mootilda: modthesims.info/d/420924/fix-subhood-selection.html. I’m so sorry I forgot like a total noob!!
It’s a while since I’ve checked the tumblr, but last I looked the Universities weren’t there yet. The older clean templates for those are on her livejournal meetme2theriver.livejournal.com/63030.html
Also, in Bulk Renamer there are checkboxes for all the subfolders and for files, so the entire ‘hood can be renamed in one go. Step 4, #3 in this tutorial by Mootilda shows them, at the bottom of the Bulk Rename user interface screen. modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=502306
Final thing, if you hunt around in MeetMe’s tumblr you will find fixed replacements for the stealthhood bin sims, so you can either delete the stealthhoods entirely or replace them with Jawusa’s Clean and Empty ones from Mod the Sims. Because a bunch of those sims are a bit broken too. (Meetme didn’t change their looks, just stuff like their memories and relationships, or if they are using broken templates. So the Ottomas’ are still pretty odd-looking, for example).

Ohhh I remember trying to make two Pleasantviews when I was a kid. I just renamed the folder thinking it would work, it didn't, I got annoyed and never looked into how to do it since lol.

I was always curious about uberhoods so thank you for the video!
I followed the tutorial but couldn't quite get all of it to work. For some bizarre reason, anything I renamed just didn't want the families/houses to show up. I followed your example of renaming the Pleasantview main hood (N001) to UBER, and I renamed the clean template of Bluewater so that I'd still have the original, and both of these maps ended up having no sims or houses at all even though all the files inside had been renamed to match the new neighborhood ID. I even did a search for N001 and B001 in their respective folders but I didn't miss out on any file.
I was about to give up but I decided since I came this far, I'd just create a new neighborhood (used the 'arbordale' map and named it Arbordale and just pretend this new neighborhood is the hip happening spot to put all the bin families into as well as any new offspring hoping to start their new lives together), go back and download Pleasantview as a subhood, and use the original Bluewater Village, and that pretty much solved my problem of getting everyone together (for now, I guess! hehe).

Oh boy an uberhood, how many households would be in one round, including bin familes, like 45 or something? That would be a crazy big soap opera, idk if I could ever keep track of soo many sims but best of luck to you lol.
Also yeah what the heck are kits anyway?! What's next, totes, baggies?! EA continuing to slowly march towards micro-transactions in the sims just drives me nuts.
Honestly I'm not sure how I'll go keeping track of everyone and everything 🤣 spreadsheets, Woo!!
First major job is to finish sorting out my default replacements & CC, get the bin families into houses, and get everyone synced up. That alone will be enough to keep me occupied for a few weeks I think 😅😅

Thanks so much for the tutorial! I think I messed up somewhere with Bluewater Village because the homes are missing. The map just has floating plum bobs and the families are where they’re supposed to be but no lots are placed. I’m not sure what I did wrong.
A bit late, but I had the same problem with Bluewater. I think it happened when I changed the name of the file, and I messed up somewhere too. So I redid the whole thing but didnt change the name of that B001-file, and it worked.
I made something similar on my alt account but I don't think anyone could understand me 😂 Tea Addict to the rescue!!! 💞

what do i do if i didnt cath that time phase where i could download ts2 on origin for free? i do not have the folders where im supposed to drop the subhood folders
I personally like to add Belladonna Cove as a Downtown, since it's a bit more urban than the others. Speaking of which, is there a way to get Belladonna Cove to add without moving the apartment-dwellers out of their apartments and into the family bin?
Not that I know of the: the apartment residences 😓 I like the idea of Belladonna Cove as a Downtown though, that's a great idea!
@@TeaAddict Thanks for the reply! I read into the posts on the tumblr and apparently having them moved in when the subhood is attached causes massive corruption, so it makes sense. She also apparently made it a shopping district to get around an issue with adding multiple downtowns where it just won't add the Sims from downtowns past the first.
My new Pleasantview aka Uber didn't appear in the neighbourhood screen. The subhoods I added also had no lots on them.
Hey, I have a question, I do find quite interesting if Bella is in my game. So... Do I need to install the addon WITH the Strangetown subhood or just one? Also, if its both, later I have to erase the Bella´s add on? Help.

I took my computer place to try to get the uberhood working and he completely messed it up. I got the sims 2 completely back to normal but how do I get the shopping distant back that come with open for business?
I've always played the Sims 2 as an uberhood but I always experiment some kind of corruption in some houses. I love this video because it covers all of my problems but I have I lil question: is there a way to find all the hoods as subhoods in Spanish? Or itwill change language as soon as I install them into my game??? Also new sub over here!!!
Ohh I'm really not sure sorry! I've never had to try getting them in another language... Might be best to just try it and see!

Does adding the clean template of blue water effect other neighborhoods that already have a blue water attached ??
I'd imagine that the hoods that already have a Bluewater attached would remain the same, and only hoods with the clean template version added fresh to the hood would have the clean version :)
Do you know how to add customer subhoods to the main neighbourhoods. I really want to add plasticbox custom shopping neighborhoods and they don’t show up :(
That's a great question. If you put the neighborhood file of your custom hood into this location:
Program Files / Origin Games / The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection / Best Of Business / EP3 / TSData / Res / NeighborhoodTemplate

How do you get a different Downtown ?
Sadly scripted event doesn't work for the subhood :(
Is there some way to make scripted event work on subhood ?
Is no fun to play without scripted event also uberhood.

I have a question. If I merry a sim from subhood and move them in in the mainhood will it crash my game?

I wonder how you got your game to not have the default neighborhoods on the start up?
There are tutorials on how to do this online if you search in Google. Basically you go into the game install location and disable the neighbourhood templates from loading, or cut them and paste them in a safe backup location.
Hi @teaaddict, hope you find this comment few years after this helpfull video - need your advice, my Veronaville doesn't seem to register as a shopping district & yes I did everything to the book, all the other neighborhoods show up as a option to add them as shopping district, just not Veronaville 😢 do you have any idea as to why? I have Belladonna Cove as my Main hood.

Yes you can use that mod in an uberhood
Can you turn an already played neighborhood into an uberhood or do you have to start fresh?
You could probably just add on all of the extra neighbourhoods as subhoods if you wanted to! You'd just want to make sure that the base neighbourhood is nice and clean, no corruption or anything like that :)

thank you very much. I have a question. Can I make an already existing hood my uberhood, and them add the clean templates to it? I have a long game going on desiderata valley (the EA version) and want to add the these clean templates as subhoods. Can I? how?
If you download the clean template subhoods and the needed mods, yes you can absolutely add them on to your Desi Valley whenever you're ready 😊

If you don't have the Ultimate Collection will this still work as long as you leave out the neighborhoods for the packs you don't have? Like I only have the Super Collection because I have a mac so I don't have FT or AL so I would just leave out Belladonna Cove and Desiderata Valley, right?
In theory I think you could include them in but you'd be missing content (like apartments for example), so yes probably best to leave them out 😊

@@sarajspinc.8373 I did! It kind of worked. The mass name changer for mac is subscription based so I just downloaded Bluewater Village as a main hood. However, to add the subhoods it didn't give me a list option to add subhoods it only gave me one option: Bluewater Village. So I added Bluewater Village and after that when I clicked on Add Shopping District it added all of the other neighborhoods with the "Add Bluewater Village button (It showed the correct neighborhood image for each hood). The only one that didn't appear was Veronaville for some reason so I just made my Veronaville into an Uberhood. I'm having so much fun. Pascal Curious married Bianca Monty, Kent Capp is engaged to Nervous Subject. Betty Goldstein went after Consort Capp and is now living her best life. And the Pleasant twins both have 3 bolts with Benedick Monty but Angela is going to marry Tank Grunt who happens to be best friends with Tybalt so it's probably going to end terribly and I can't wait.
If you guys want the scripted events of your main hood (prbobably your mainhood will be Pleasentview) YOU don´t have to change the name of your folder. If you put anything else than "N001" the game will not put the scripted events for that neighbourhood. It doesn´t change a lot the playstyle, it depends on you tbh. But if you want the scripted events DON´T change the original name the clean template has.
Out of curiosity, do you know what to do if you don't have that file setup? (The Best of Business -> EP3 -> TSData -> Res)
I managed to get Uberhoods set up on my old laptop, but I'm trying to do it on my desktop with zero luck so far
@@themesandchill what setup do you have now? Are you using a "Starter Pack" download?
I couldn't get this to work for me. I think it's because I don't have an Origin folder. The PC I'm attempting to add it on is brand new after Origin went defunct and replaced by the EA App. So I used the file path C: Program Files/EA Games/The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection/Best of Business/EP3/TSData/Res/Neighborhood Template as that seemed the logical path. I could try this on my HP AiO, but it is not as powerful as my new machine and I always thought this was too much to expect of it.
Side note: all of Meetmeattheriver's templates wouldn't download for me. Just tiny doc files with a lot of gibberish, so I used unplayed files that I have except Veronaville that I corrected the water table and genetics.
I didn't notice the pinned comment until after I started. I added it to the Downloads folder both in a sub folder which didn't work, and then added it directly to the main folder. That didn't work either.
I tried adding it to the Downtown template using file path C: Program Files/EA Games/The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection/Double Deluxe/EP2/TSData/Res/Neighborhood Template. That didn't work. So I thought maybe because I didn't have the mod until after I started that was the problem. I deleted everything and started over. That didn't work. Restarted my system. That didn't work.
I'm at a loss because I've been wanting to do this for 2 years (when I got my AiO) but never felt it could handle it. I have a machine that can but I think the fact that there is no Origin folder is the problem. I thought I chose the most logical (and only) pathway for this. The Origin Games folder still exists on the AiO despite the creation of the EA App. The Origin file itself is empty as it auto deleted months ago.
Hey, I'm sorry that you're having troubles getting this to work.
My guess would be that this probably wouldn't have worked because the downloads from MeetMe didn't work for you (which is odd, by the way). There is a setting within the neighbourhood file which needs to be set to "subhood" for the game to be willing to add the hoods as subhoods - so if you were just using the default game neighbourhoods but putting them in the right folder, you're still not going to be able to add them as subhoods because they are not going to be recognised as a subhood by the game.
You might want to try downloading again, or if you're comfortable using SimPE, there are tutorials you can follow online to make the hoods into subhoods, such as this one modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=553111
I just tried the downloads from MeetMe's Tumblr and it worked absolutely fine for me. What program do you use to unzip downloaded zip files?

@@TeaAddict Thanks for the reply. I found a single (well 2 part) download from MeetMe that worked. Wish I'd just Googled that first as it would have saved me 5 hours. But it's up and running. Not playing yet as my OCD demands I make a spreadsheet for them and figure out who should marry whom before I start, LOL.
does this method also work for when you just want to download a clean hood?
if you just want to download a clean hood, you can grab the Main hood versions (rather than Subhood version) from MeetMeToTheRiver's Tumblr and pop straight in your neighbourhoods folder I think - check the instructions on the Tumblr 😊

All of my subhoods are working properly except for Bluewater Village. When I load in, the families are where they should be but all the lots are empty. Any idea why this happened and how I should go about fixing it?
Edit: I fixed my problem! Turns out when initially moving all the Subhoods into the NeighborhoodTemplate folder I ended up merging the 2 BWV files together...yikes. Moral of the story, never merge! :p
How come it puts the Belladonna cove family’s in the sim bin?

Do you mean an external USB hard drive? Very unlikely, unless it was always plugged into your PC and also had your default Operating System on it (eg where the computer will install the game, like Origin Games or Program Files). 🤷🏼♀️
@@TeaAddict yes, EXTERNAL hard drive. As for PC, I mean, as long EXTERNAL is pluged in PC, I hope the game can work. The problem is...I love SIMS 2...a lot...and want to install and play it (plus CC and mods). But I am worried abour HARD DRIVE C (its always C) since I dont have C with a lot of space (I have the basic PC programs but C is too short).
@@TeaAddict if I could use USB/External hars drive when I play the game, it could help. I wouls only need to plug in the thing.
@@lenarosic your best bet would be to move some of the things taking up a lot of space on C drive onto the external HDD instead to make the space for The Sims 2 to be on your main drive!

Did you download the extra mods in the pinned comment? And you definitely put them in your program files neighbourhood templates?

Hey - when I download the file from MeetMe it appears on my computer as a .7z file, not one I can extract and open in the builk rename facility??
Bulk rename facility is only for renaming filesthat you have already downloaded and extracted. The files from MeetMe are zip files so yes, you need to extract/unzip them before doing anything else with them 😊
