      Fragile Crystal I think a lot of people see as him ‘that guy’, shows up in some blockbusters, Spider-Man obviously, Aquaman most recently, and he’s always solid in those, but not many know or have seen To Live and Die in LA, Last Temptation, Light sleeper, Wild at Heart, Shadow of the Vampire. Hell even in small roles like John Wick and Wes Anderson movies he steals the scenes he’s in. And his choices are always so varied, he can play sympathetic or full evil or very grey. Above all, he just seems like a really good, humble dude
      He should have one statue by now at least imo

    Man, from all the interviews of him I've seen, Willem just seems like such an awesome goddamn guy. He seems like such a "director's actor". A guy who doesn't seem to have an ounce of celebrity ego or entitlement, and views his work as just that: work. But not the type of work that makes you groan when you wake up in the morning; a craft that he's endlessly passionate for, and wants to be used in service of a beautiful artist's vision. To be a part of creating something extraordinary (like The Lighthouse) is its own reward. It's easy to see why he's had a consistent career for decades and doesn't seem likely to fade away any time soon. Godspeed, Spider-Man.

      @@charliepanayiotou4305 I disagree, Sam Rockwell was the best actor in that movie and the scene with him in the police station while it was being firebombed was better than any scene with Dafoe in The Florida Project.

    Willem isn't only a well-known actor by playing Green Goblin in the Spider-Man's trillogy, starring Tobey Maguire, he's also known by playing several roles especially, villian roles. Nevertheless, his Jesus's performance in The last temptation of Chris by Scorsese is arguably one of the most underrated ones in his career as an actor.

    I do like it when an actor finds a Director they want to work with, and give themselves over to them. I know that actors are constantly in search of roles, but sometimes (and in the case of someone of Willem's status) it really does mean something. I got the feeling from this interview that he 'got' from the role (and the filming conditions) exactly what he expected (and perhaps more?). Willem is rather modest about his work is he not?

    The Lighthouse is a genius movie and Willem plays his role as a crusty old sea dog so amazing well it’s an Oscar performance. That accent is pure British Sea Dog from the 19th Century it’s flawless. Actually Roberts accent is all over the place in comparison but we’re comparing a good actor with one of the best actors of all time. Such a compelling movie that draws you in. You’re on that island with them. Bunked up in the same tiny rooms. At once drunk with them singing and dancing and resentful of the old domineering Keeper. The scenes of being pissed out of their heads are terrifyingly real. When people get that hammered anything can happen as they regress to mindless cave men. It’s right up here with Joker as a masterpiece of the last decade.

    • @Garrett1240
      @Garrett1240 2 года назад +1

      That accent would’ve been fitting for a seaman of 19th century New England. Same goes for Pattinson, even though he was inconsistent with it.

HE ALSO SEEMS A GENUINE AND HUMBLE CHAP, NO 'GREAT I AMS' OR TANTRUMS FROM HIM. HE QUIETLY DOES HIS WORK TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL. AND ONE DAY THE ACADEMY WILL RECOGNIZE THIS.
