I was there a month ago. A Uber driver told me a couple of things. You never really hear of crime in Las Vegas. It gets swept under the rug really fast. You don't see a lot of police on the strip. Mostly parked nearby to give off a feeling of safety.

Vegas used to be fairly safe years ago. We used to go about once a month and walked everywhere without incident ( for almost 40 years!). People dressed up and were decent. Now we simply don't bother going at all. The clientele has drastically changed.

Such as that drunk chick in the video clip. The problem is that many tourists come here to "shit on our lawn" by doing things that they would never do at home. Have not been to the Strip in years but as noted, valet the car, take an Uber and stay out of the garages and off the Boulevard itself. Keep in mind, the resorts are looking at protecting them$elves not you.

There is a RUclipsr named "Lone Wulf Rick". He is a senior citizen and looks to be as harmless as can be. He recently posted a video titled "So this guy was really mean to me while filming my video from the Las Vegas Strip!". In the video as he is walking down the strip in the morning hours some guy just starts screaming at him for filming. There were two security guards standing right there and the guy didn't care.

Doesn't matter where you are, parking garages aren't safe. There's usually a gap in security there. If you're on the strip in the day time, you're 100% safe. 3 AM, if you're in a crowd, safe. If not, just make sure you know where your closes casino entrance is in either direction. There have only been a couple of times in Vegas I felt like I could have been in a bad situation and it was fine because I was aware of what was happening. You just have to be aware of your surroundings and have an escape plane. And always keep your head either move where you think there's safety or look in their direction so they know you're paying attention.

How about filming people without their consent in a place like Vegas is a really inconsiderate thing to do. Like it or not people come to Vegas to unwind - and they don't need a camera shoved in their face at all times where they could possibly get in trouble at work or with their significant other. I can't believe that this isn't better understood by the "RUclips" crowd. I live on the strip and I don't have these problems because I don't annoy people this way.

    • @NOTLeavingLV

Well this can be seen from both perspectives. Yes, people are entitled to a reasonable amount of privacy, but at the same time when we go outside we are directly putting ourselves into the public, so there is no "reasonable" expectation of privacy when out in the open air.

So where’s this attack that you started talking about, mob fights in parking garage etc. you tubers getting attacked. It’s turning into a free for all with you tubers, it’s getting out of hand in my book, just like guns, subway attacks, Uber assaults, door dash assaults and murders…member Craig’s list….murders,ambushes. Hell a collage student just got arrested (finally) for killing random people with his knife and he lived with collage roommates!! House invasions, car jacking’s, pumping gasoline assault/robberies, were relocating by the millions not knowing who’s who anymore.
Be vigilant, be smart, be ready, be noticed that your not just walking around all dumbfounded. That drunk girl….that you saw from a good enough distance….avoid her!….anyone else around her look like there with her….pay attention!….leave the freaking area completely…Vegas is huge!! You can can tell when it’s getting rowdy and drunks/drugs are overwhelming people around you…near you….coming towards you….get out of the kill zone!!

I somehow got on a flight from BWI to Houston and back with a full combat knife I bought from Ranger Surplus a long time ago and TSA never gave me any trouble. I actually forgot that it was in a side pocket of my suitcase, so that's a good thing. Except as soon as I arrived I found out there were several "incidents" in the suburbs outside of the city where I was. These days you never know

Friend of mine was trying to get a lighter or matches after a flight until he realized he had his lighter the whole time. TSA is not always great at what they do I guess.

LV may have been safe many decades ago, but the population, development boom of the late eighties, nineties changed the character of the place forever. Twenty-five years ago a young man pointed a gun at my face a block from the Strip. (FYI: he was not Black.) Felonious crime is not a recent development in Sin City.

A few quips...Vegas is very good at sweeping bad news under the rug, including crime. Hey, bad for business. Nevada is open carry, but CCW requires a permit and all that entails. CCW holder can carry in a casino, but since private property, can ask you to leave. Suggest to carry non-lethal weapon, something you can carry in your pocket...especially if your roaming parking lots. And legally will relieve a lot of headaches. On the other hand, bringing a knife to a gun fight is generally not a good idea. And who cares about headaches when you could be 6 feet under without being strapped. It's a personal choice. One more thing, be smart. Don't flash money around. WSOP is coming to town, be smart. Flashing blocks of cash or backpacks full of dough not a good idea.

Live in reality, pull up to valet, go inside, stay inside at Venetian/Palazzo where everything is inside. Uber to other hotels into valet, leave valet back inside. STAY OUT OF PARKING STRUCTURES!!! If you have to walk the streets or want to save money in shady structure? Don’t come here or save up until you can afford a “safe in/out” as outlined above. Not worth it. Best all e.
