I’ve been to Vegas 5 times in the last 20 years. I’ve noticed a significant decline during my last visit in 2022. There are so many homeless cracked out people on the strip it’s unbelievable. It would be one thing if they were just sitting there with a sign asking for money but they are engaging with people and acting angry and violent. There is a complete lack of police and security out on the sidewalks and bridges. The casinos don’t care what goes on outside. You can smell weed all over. I was shocked how many people I saw bring kids there

I’m in Vegas on vacation right now and that’s what brought me here , im from NJ and often work in NYC. I might see a crazy violent bum in NYC every once in a while but me and my fiancé encountered at least a half dozen in Vegas in just a few hours today!! I think it’s the meth out here.. makes people nuts, don’t see this on the east coast. It’s scary!! and yes, people are smoking weed out in the open everywhere. I have nothing against smoking weed but come on, I always would at least be discrete with it!

We went this last August and one homeless guy was threatening me as I walked by. I had a few drinks already, I want to drop his ass but glad I didnt.

We were in Vegas for hubby's union conference last October. We agreed I wouldn't go outside the hotel without him. I almost went out to the Walgreens near the Wynn one day but decided against it. At about that time, there were multiple people stabbed with two dying right outside the Wynn. My guardian angel whispering in my ear.
That was definately not a regular incident. I am glad you are safe.
You sound pathetic. I have walked from Wynn to Walgreens many times and no problems and very safe. So many people out.

I've lived in Vegas since 97 and they are right on a lot of things however I wanted to just add my 2 cents for anyone thinking of visiting. Stay on the strip anywhere from mandalay bay to the sahara. If your thinking of going to downtown just get an uber or drive there. Don't pass the strat, once u pass it it gets very sketchy. Remember from mandalay bay to sahara is ok once you pass sahara its a whole different thing. Walk during the day and try not to be alone at night.
Homeless and crackheads are also in the main casinos . Security don’t do nothing.
Many casino security guards remind me of Barney Fife, but without the "deputy" title. They don't have time to deal with serious problems because they're too busy harassing people for picking up abandoned slot tickets.

Last time I when to Vegas I took my kids to arcade in Excalibur security was escorting out a homeless from the bathroom
Thank you for the video. As a resident of Vegas for the last 26 years, I have seen a lot. Vegas has always had a crime element like most cities. When I moved here downtown was no-go zone. The Fremont Street Experience hadn't been developed and the majority of the homeless population was in this area. Once redevelopment began downtown, the homeless population spread out to other parts of the valley including the underground tunnels ( Vegas version of skid row). I've seen all facets of crime, but before social media, Vegas had control of the narrative. You didn't hear much about crime once the corporate entities took control and the city was marketed to families. They no longer have control, and now you are seeing the underbelly. To add to the safety tips, ladies please be careful within the hotel/casino space. People will take advantage if they see you are not in full control. This element also goes under-reported.

Like everywhere in the world, you will have some area that you don't want to go to even in daylight. I lived in Vegas for 20 years, I got robbed once in front of my office. But most people would have their homes burglarized, and cars broken into, or robbed outside the casinos. You cannot be careful enough, it is life and if you are robbed, let go of whatever they want and run for your life. You cannot buy your life back. Period. Be safe. I had enough of Vegas and I just left for good.

We have never had any issues ourselves but we are also careful. Use common sense.
I have been to Las Vegas by myself many times with no issues but my #1 rule is don't make yourself an easy target. Don't flash cash, don't wear expensive jewelry, keep an eye on your phone, purse/wallet. In other words, look like you aren't worth going after. Stay safe!

I’ve been to Vegas many times solo and always feel safe. That being said, I don’t venture off the beaten path. When solo I try to walk near groups so it’s not obvious that I am alone. If I am enjoying some cocktails I will stay at my home casino so I don’t have to walk outside, especially at night. I appreciate the great advice that you share on your channels. Even though I have been there many times over the years I always learn something new or discover a hidden gem because of you two. As always, great job!
My son was last year in Vegas with buddies, so they went to sleep and he was loitering there in the middle of the night alone filming for me, he said he felt safe because there were people everywhere. He was walking the strip of course. I preferred to enjoy fountain view from my room in Bellagio. Safe and clean. Nothing to see in Vegas - all shabby and dirty
My last two visits to Vegas been solo and enjoyed it so much better, you get to dictate your itinerary on your own schedule
Back in the late 90s, we walked from Excalibur to Freemont and back. Left at 9am returning at 3am. It was a great experience that could never happen again. We stopped at most of the hotels and casinos and had dinner on Freemont Street. It was nothing like it is today.

First time I visited Vegas was in 2006. We stayed at the Klondike which is no more. I remember a knock on our door and it was a homeless person asking us for money. They’re pretty aggressive when it comes to asking but that whole panhandler at our door thing tripped us out.
If you come to LV with your RV, make sure you avoid at all costs Mainstreet RV park. We had our bicycles $500 each stolen last night! They were locked and secured on a bike rack. It was so quiet, even our dog didn't react. Filed a police report, but no hope to get our bikes back.... Mfrs

Was once held up at gun point walking from the Westgate to LV BLVD., a distance of one very long block. I was traveling alone in the middle of the day and the robber pulled up in a car, waved me over as if he wanted to ask me something. I hesitated because it didn't feel right. When I did, the criminal, a very young Latino driving a very old compact car, produced a hand gun from under the passenger seat cushion and pointed it right at me. I stared right down the barrel. His aim was perfect. Had he pulled the trigger, he would have shot me in the face. In that instant I turned and ran in the direction of the Strip. The criminal gave no pursuit and I ducked into the nearest business, the still-existing Riviera Hotel and Casino.
Every crime is a crime of opportunity; Las Vegas is a target-rich environment for criminals.

As a local I am going to give you some excellent advice...Stay away from Circus Circus...don't stay or play there, It is ghetto, your car will not be safe as their have been break ins, druggies hang around everywhere and the rooms are total crap.
No more Vegas for us, nope, we go to Biloxi MS now.

There are good and bad neighborhoods just about everywhere. Educate yourself and ask questions. Videos like this are very helpful. I've definitely had some sketchy moments walking in Las Vegas and all of them were at night. I caught the tail end of the mob run era in sin city and I feel like it was safer back then. Those were different times but I feel as if they would not have tolerated so much homelessness. Sure there was crime, but for the average visitor just trying to have a good time it felt safe and definitely more glamorous.
I would avoid Wyoming Ave! That street is notorious for homelessness, crime and some crackheads running out towards people! And Sahara Ave to the north in sketchy too!
Thank you for all the great advice. We visit Vegas twice every year and agree with you completely. Use good judgment and you will be fine and enjoy your time. Be aware of your surroundings and enjoy all Vegas has to offer.
I remember hearing a story about a lady who booked an Airbnb and it turned out to be behind the Strat. She was terrified 😨. I don't know how long she stayed there but it had to be pretty darn scary for a solo lady.
We accidently drive down there once, that was enough 🙂 was like another world behind the strat.
I went to Vegas about 2 years ago on mybday. Stood at the strat but only walked /shopped/ate on the strip during the day. I was inside at night . Therefore I never ran into the crazies.
Well, I was robbed at gunpoint and carjacked for my 392 HEMI..... YET, I LOVE THE WEATHER HERE
I wanted to visit Red Lobster, my deranged husband said he did not want to drive, let s walk. We stepped 2 steps off the strip i told him are u totally insane? I m not going there. So we drove - driving was not bad at all. And once u go off the strip there is like no traffic. And that red lobster was so far, was like 10-15 min driving straight. My husband was definitely out of mind - we would have died from dehydration walking there through the desert
Been here 30 years. Thinking about leaving. But I'm OK with my surroundings.

Thank you for sharing this video. Your explanation and advice were right. Using common sense and being aware of the surrounding areas is essential. However, I moved from Las Vegas one month ago after eight years of living in the northwest section of Las Vegas - the Centennial Hills. Keep educating the visitors.

I have traveled to Vegas alone before a few times, I usually stay at New York New York or Luxor, and I walk around the strip area during the day but at night I pretty much stay in or around the hotel area. I'm in Dallas Texas and I don't get out of my apartment complex at night either. But I'm a senior citizen and have some mobility problems. Thank you for the tips.

They get creative by robbing you without you knowing it. You’ve just checked in your hotel and walking alongside the Las Vegas Blvd thinking you are safe. Not realizing you’ve just been robbed by their resort fees.
And when you get tired walking and sit in front of the slot machine, they rob you for a second time without you knowing it.
ive lived in vegas almost 50 years,didnt recognize a lot of what you were talking about, it takes common sense like in most cities, my children were all born here as was my grand kids.. everybody is thriving. vegas was good to me, vickie
We moved from Chicago to Vegas and now I'm in Florida but my mom,sister, auntie, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews are still there. Vegas was so good to me especially moving out of chi raq, I moved because it really is a 24 hour city so all I did was work and stayed in the casinos gambling and drinking for free I got burnt out after 15yead of it😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. I also dispatched for whittlesea taxi,nlv taxi and nlv airport so I know Vegas all the way to Henderson,pahrump etc

I lived in Vegas in the 90s and went to college after leaving the USMC. My parents retired there so I chose UNLV because I could hang with them after 12 years in the military. I moved away in '96 and moved back ten years later after my dad passed. I needed to be close to my mom. I got there and the housing market collapsed. There was no work to be found. I finally got a job working at a mini-mart / laundry matt. People ripped that place off blind. They guy who I replaced had been shot in the head outside the store. It was his fault - he sold a dude some fake drugs and when the guy came back he began to fight with him and the guys friend shot him. It was close to UNLV but the place was dangerous at night with heroin addicts, crack heads, and tweakers. The crack heads would come in to steal and then forget why they came into the store before they could steal anything. The tweakers would stay up all night plotting their theft and were the most dangerous. People trying to pass counterfeit bills, etc.
I moved to Naked City, the neighborhood behind the Stratosphere. It used to be the place where people went to find drugs and prostitutes and is in-between the Black and Hispanic gang turfs. It is a dangerous place at night. I got a job at the Seven Eleven behind the Strat. "Someone got shot in the face on the corner" or "They found another body in the dumpster" and other comments were common when you came into work. On one occasion I kicked out a guy selling crack, a hooker and her john, and a homeless dude pissing in the phone booth at one time, all in front of the store. I saw women who were owned by gangs - they owed them money for drugs and then got prostituted until they paid off their debt. Gang members would walk them to their appointments. They would be around for a few weeks, steadily going down hill and then they would disappear. You learned to believe only half of what you hear and repeat none of it. There was a girl driving a brand new Cadillac Esplanade cruisin' with two friends. They were tweaking and would stop in every few hours to refill their drinks. They were up for several days straight. Eventually, she was hooking to get money and her friends were gone. The gangs got ahold of her and the Cadillac was gone.. They passed her around for a week or two until she was cooked.
I lived in a small one bedroom on Boston Street. They remodeled the old building next door. Some guy was living there, supposedly keeping an eye on the place during the renovation. One morning I woke up and the whole building was burnt down. They said the fire dept was there in the night but I had slept through it. The guy watching the place had started a fire and burnt the place down. A week later they found a burnt corpse in the building. It was likely that the fire was a coverup for a murder. I worked the swing shift at the 7/11 and talked to the driver who did the deliveries. I looked at his clip board and laughed. "you have a dangerous route" I said to him as I saw the other stores he delivered to, like the ones on Desert Inn. He said he stopped and prayed every night before going to one on DI. They frequently had shoot-outs in the parking lot and other crime going on around there.
There were a lot of people who moved to Vegas from LA and they brought the gang stuff with them, once the mob was gone. It is a seedy place with a lot of drugs, gang violence, hookers, homeless and thieves. My mom passed in 2011 and I left town in 2012. Vegas in the 70s was cheesy. In the 80s it was great. In the 90s it was still cool. In the 2000s it became overwhelmed by homeless panhandlers, pickpockets, and criminals. Now it is an expensive nightmare.

I have never had a problem in vegas. I have been up and down fremont side streets as well as.way off the strip. Never felt threatened. I am more nervous walking around my local strip in AC.

Thank you for the video! I wish they would clean up the area behind The Strat. Maybe that's why the space across from the Sahara is vacant? I'd love to see the empty spaces on the north end of the Strip get filled by casinos or any business for that matter.
You two provide highly useful information about Sin City. I avoid all the problems you mentioned by staying at my favorite casino in Henderson.

Yeah there is a corner the homeless / impaired we’re hanging at. We crossed the street just to avoid. it was daylight. But no way at night.
I stayed at the Strat last month. I often went to Denny's or IHOP for a late night Snack. I never felt unsafe. I was asked for some change 2 times. No big Deal. I always had some quarters in my pocket, so I didn't have to pull out my wallet. Don't leave the Strip in that area even in daytime, and you'll be fine.
It's always good to know your surrounding. Glad we were able to just add a bit more insight. Have a great time in Vegas.

it's pretty scary around the casinos on Boulder highway. No way I would walk around there especially at night.
Yeah don't, a lot of prostitutes walk around the area and it's not safe at night.

With casinos every where why would you go to ridiculous prices as well as street trash I just can't see it.

I've been to Vegas numerous times off and on since 2008 and a few times solo and I'm a woman. I've never had issues. Once a friend did have a homeless person yell at her in her face but she may have been mentally ill and she ending up walking off. That was the only odd thing I personally seen in my many years of traveling there. I will say use common sense, don't be confrontational, stay away from dark side streets just like with any other major city. Danger is everywhere and sometimes can't be avoided so I do not think Vegas is an unsafe destination in comparison to other major cities.

1st time i was there , i got on and off the wrong bus and ended up way south of the strat , i walked back cause i wasnt waiting at a stop and i gotta say i never felt in danger even talking to people ,, just act crazy youl be fine ,

I've always felt pretty safe in Vegas, definitely felt a bit more run down at Fremont last year and agree much more homeless on the strip. Noticed more homeless going into casinos hunting for the tito's now they've done away with change at the machines.
Still enjoy it there, will likely be back there in September.

We stayed at the Signature Suites and decided to walk to Ellis Island after a couple of rounds of Top Golf and never again will I walk back down Koval when the sun goes down.
Yeah I'm a local and even I don't do that. Koval at night is very sketchy and the ellis island parking lot is just not it. A lot of miserable people in the area.
I’m staying at Ellis island mid February is it safe to walk to the strip? Night or day? Or should I just take an Uber?
@aja r Flamingo didn't look too bad because there was always someone walking there and there's lights on the street. Just watch out for the corner of Koval and Flamingo because there was a couple of homeless people talking to themselves and it looks like one of the typical spots where they hang out. Definitely stay off Koval. Also try to stay on the north side of Flamingo because you can always escape into the Westin if needed.

One walk I made in 2021 that I probably won't make again was from downtown to the Neon Museum. Don't get me wrong, the museum itself is INCREDIBLE, especially if you're into the history of the town, but man, the walk there was from Sketchy Central. I took an Uber back to my hotel, especially since it was dark after my tour of the museum. Museum? Great. The area near it? Not so good.
Did the same thing but during the afternoon. Single Senior adventurous female…but not stupid. The problem with that walk is that once you start..you’re committed. You either have to quit and walk BACK downtown, carry on or hang around at a bus stop corner and wait for a CATS bus to MAYBE come down the road. Poor options…just take the gosh darn UBER and be done with it!

A couple years ago when I went I never saw drugged up homeless people wandering inside the casinos. Seems to be common now on my recent trip.

Ive been living in vegas for almost 10 years. I would say the place i feel the most unsafe is this area close to freemont and near this highway bridge where a neighborhood lies. I cant remember the exact location but i NEVER park my car or walk near that bridge i never felt safe. Sometimes at night i walk around fremont to spray paint and people would most likely leave me alone, but i always make sure my surroundings are clear and that noones following me because these graffitti areas are pitch black!
last time i was there.. we walked from fremont to the atomic ... it was light when we arrived at the atomic, but pretty dark and sketchy walking back. It felt sketchy.. but was mostly deserted.....

Vegas resident. All you have to do is be careful when you’re downtown and on the strip. Never walk alone, especially at night. And the west side.
Vegas is an entertainment city… we have visited once a year for over 20 years.. I find myself enjoying the Golden Nugget the last 7 years in downtown ( people watching) at night fun but enjoy the shows,dinner and experience. I still know my budget for gambling 🎰
Area around the Stratosphere, not nice unless you want to practice your martial arts skills. Downtown Vegas north of the Main Streets Casino…no thank you. East of the Fremont Street Experience… a true experience.

I have lived in Las Vegas for over 28 years now, I moved here in 1992 and inspite of working on or near the Strip, I have never had a time that I felt in danger. At least no more in danger than when I have traveled to other large cities in the US! Vegas has so much to offer in entertainment value plus so many of our best places are nestled in close proximity to each other and that’s why years ago the local young people would cruse the Strip for a fun weekend evening out to enjoy the energy of our visitors having fun.The energy of Las Vegas can be very addicting, so if you come to visit for the first time, don’ forget to sign up as a member of your favorite casino’s Layers club and earn credits for discounts on your next visit. Trust me, you will want to come back again because there are so many beautiful places thst surround o ur city, not just the famous Strip! After moving to Vegas so many years ago from upstate NY, my friends from back home would innocentlybas k me if I lived on the strip! That’s when I realize zed that most people in general don’t even know about all special hidden gems, like beautiful parks and natural mini desert hiking trails that offer a cool mid-morning hike with incredible mountain and city views. Mt. charleston generally runs 10 degrees cooler even our summer months when ithe heat certainly can be blistering at above 100 degrees F.based on my personal experience, I would prefer 100 degrees of low humidity to over the below zero temps of upstate NY, not even factoring in the wind chill thst freezes even your nose hairs just from breathing in! Lol. We love and appreciate all of our visitors. I invite you all personally to be quests in Vegas whenever you are feeling cold in some other state! Yep common sense applies when on vacation.
I have never had a problem..but the sketchy area we encounter last trip was going from the Strat the Capriotti's on Sahara. The BF a former Vegas resident was pretty comfy walking past the abandoned apts…me not so much. We did however see a few homeless individuals hang in a bus stop on Koval. No problem except a women wobbled off the sidewalk into the street right in the path of our car. Lucky we swerved & missed her. And lucky for her too. Common sense is key when traveling.

I have a condo there around boseck and durango and Boca Park is very safe.
Accidentally found the worst parts of Las Vegas on my first night there in 2018... Now both the cost of flights and resort fees have gone WAY up since then. I'm a little more concerned about that, actually. There are actually more murders in my home state over the past two years.
Good judgement and common sense an absolute must. As in any large city..."We ain't in Kansas anymore" Lived in the Valley 25 years now~Never an issue...
