    The 10 Crucible Commandments of Lord Shaxx:
    Be aware of the map
    Be aware of the radar
    Be aware of the spawns
    Be aware of your team mates
    Be familiar with your guns
    Be smart about cover
    Be ready to run away
    Be patient and calm
    Be respectful
    Be AMAZING

      @@SlicedInThree Yup, knowing when to disengage is more important than most people realize. This alone can increase most people's KD by a lot. Adding the knowledge of how to re-engage from different angles can even turn some into decent players.

    As a former educator, I resonate w/ how you're doing this series. I absolutely LOVE your approach. It's pragmatic, approachable and not sensational or elitist in nature. Plus, your voice is very inviting, methodical and paced so folks have an opportunity to digest the info. Please, more on this series if/when you get a chance (just watched your latest as of the date of this comment). Thanks, from literally all below average players as myself. Last night I had everything going wrong; stacked teams, terrible lag, and "low skilled" teammates, making poor choices leading to tilt(me), all while Solo Queuing Comp. And after 3 games in a row, I realized I was unable to get out of tilt.
    So I went back to PvE for the rest of the night. Sometimes, you just gotta let it go and come back later, when you're fresh.

    • @DermyOP
      @DermyOP 5 лет назад +8

      yeah i feel ya there i'm a strict solo player. The way I get around stacked teams is to play at an unusual time. You're most likely only playing with people in your timezone. I have a wacky schedule so it works out. Weekends and/or nights ( also around the tuesday reset) there's a TON of stacked teams and the best players. So I avoid PvP at that time

      Buddy and I had the same thing happen. We generally enjoy crucible but haven't played much for a while and were running into maps we didn't know, getting bodied by shotgun apes, and after a couple games we were bitching about the meta, the maps, crappy team. Absolutely tilted. So we bailed, put on some stupid masks and did some PvE shit with dumb weapons. It's a good call to stop when you're not having fun anymore, because any "competitive" mode in any game can do that to you.

  • @mrlordbrutish
    @mrlordbrutish 4 года назад +2

    I want you to know that I jumped into Crucible today after watching this and tried to apply what you said in this video. The biggest lesson by far for me was letting go of my ego and A) not trying to win every gunfight (i.e. reducing your D) and B) not getting riled after every loss, but thinking in terms of "what did I do wrong there, and how could I have done it differently."
    Except for my first Rumble game, where there were a couple of A+ crucible players who just wrecked everyone, I did consistently better across the board. I'm usually a 10-15 Control player, I did two games today (yes, I know, only 2) but they were 19 and 24. So bravo you!

    My personal tips whenever I play are: "if you see more than one person looking in your direction, leave the sightline immediately." And "if you see a titan, keep them at a scout rifles distance as if they're sitting on a fist of panic". In my experience they're always apeing with a shotgun or trying to shoulder charge.

    Also remember even if you do everything right you maybe those games where everything just goes wrong. Sometimes things are just outside your control e.g. stacked teams, laggy players, crappy internet. If I find myself repeated dying in a match I will respawn and before I run off to the next engagement I will take a deep breath and then say to myself it is time to slow down and be more conscious of my actions. Most times I am able to see where my mistakes are then correct them.

    Tip 1 if you don't have a character of each class get one and get used to how they play so you know how to counterplay them.
    Tip 2 know close range is a striker titans best friend and they most likely have a shoulder charge for you.
    Tip 3 side arms are the best counter to shotguns in the close range. Preferably a burst sidearm.
    Tip 4 don't relie on your abilities to bail you out of most situations.
    Lastly tip 5 remember that after lots of close range engagements there is a good possibility that there is another enemy near you and you probably won't have time to regen.

      So I've recently started super concentrating on my positioning while in a gunfight, to the point that if my opponent gets the first shot off, I immeditately retreat behind cover (rule 1: Don't Die). So what I started doing is hugging a corner, back up about a meter or two, THEN come out of cover to shoot, duck back. You could also purposely get yourself into sticky situations and simply practice retreating.

    #1 tip, play quickplay in a 6 man team where everyone on the team has the same goals: try to never drop a game, try to mercy every game, and try to have the upper hand on every engagement.
    Do that and you will likely have a 5.0+ kd and a 7.0+ kad given that you die one to three times a game and you are not just sitting in the back and “farming.”
    This will work because some people on my friends list do it every night.
    I still have high stats but not as high as some of the friends I mentioned. For example if you soloed Luna’s howl like I did, my stats went down 0.5 because I decided to go in solo Day 1 of Forsaken against sweaty 4 stacks trying to get worlds first legend rank.
    In the end, if you play smart and pay attention to radar, even if you are solo queuing, you can get a high kd and kad, just not as high as a 6 man team in quick play :)
    Note: now that I see these other comments, I feel like most people will not benefit from what I said lol. To people in the comment section, learn your movement and position first, then a few months from now do what I said hehe.

      It can in some of the modes. In Clash, you're more helpful to your team if you go 20-5 instead of 50-45.
      In Rumble it's all about kill volume, which is helped by not dying but k/d itself doesn't actually matter.

    • @RavenUwU605
      @RavenUwU605 5 лет назад +1

      juiceboxarmy no it doesn’t really matter but a somebody with a 1.5 kd is probably gonna do better somebody with a 0.8 kd

      Having this mindset actually helps getting a better KD. If you overthink too much and get nervous about HAVING to get a good KD, a lot of mistakes can be done in the match. At least this is what happens with me xD

    • @corylyonsmusic
      @corylyonsmusic 5 лет назад

      @@Bigdaddy93413 but k/d is a product of so many different circumstances and situations for every player...every situation and experience is unique...so yes, k/d is one small indicator of skill bit it's not the end all/be all Stat that people seem to think it is

    Lmfao nah that ain’t it. What’s actually holding me back is my dumbass team who doesn’t capture zones and have no idea how to aim a gun, it’s why I’m always at the top of my leaderboard with 40+ defeats

      I feel ya'. Only time I'm not top of the leaderboard is when I'm the one guy paired with a five stack, and I always get 15+ kills per match. Every other time? Well... As I like to say when venting: "You're putting me against a Korean masters team with a stick and a bunch of lobotomites. I'm not *that* good, Shaxx!"

    Its 2023, yet these tips still make sense and will be so valuable on my journey to improve in PVP. You have such a smooth guiding voice; not rushed, to the point, and easy to listen to and understand.
    I use to be one of the titans that liked to melee and charge before they nerfed the shoulder charge. I had to change to using weapons more and relying on aiming, but would get so frustrated and give up because i felt like i was not cut out for it. But after a friend watched my footage and we discussed, i gotta work on muscle memory and practice.

    Coolguy I must admit this video series has done WONDERS for my game. I main a Titan and I was just running in there hard charging with chaperone and Sometimes I would do good and sometimes I would do bad. I must admit after watching this video series my K/D had improved tremendously. Im now averaging about a 2.9 k/d with roughly 25 kills and I have had a couple of 30 kill games as well. The advice that stuck with me was slow down and positioning. I just followed your instructions and its like you said. Im reading people so easy now. I could go on on and I know this is an older video now but it was gold for me and just wanted to say thank you so much! Keep up the good work!
