Very interesting, as usual. My version of pressure that I personally use is... I think of every kick, punch, or strike that comes at me will kill, I am now studying and teaching Chinese Kung Fu. I came up with this theory while sparring with my Shifu, I couldn't get out of the way fast enough and kept getting hit ! I also had to build myself as tough as "the Proffessor" in the Chuck Norris movies. 😀
Subscribed! I feel a connection between Iaido and a modern PDW in that the faster it's in hand the faster you can stop a threat. Smooth is quick, fast is slow right? Being classically trained in military saber I have lots of bad habits to iron out. Yet in a duel with swords already at the ready I feel I can fight more scientifically with a saber with great results. I do want to ge better with a katana and its calming ways.
Great question, In OUR style its about 45 degrees but what ever feels natural close to that.. Weight distribution depends on your next intention. But yes start with 50/50 if you are new at this. More modern variations of iai that Kendo practitioners practice may tell you that the rear foot should be straight ahead. It's whatever your teacher tells you. If you need a teacher we are happy to help out! Just send us a video once in a while. We love to see new folks training!!! Ribudo.blog
Thanks for replying, many don't. I've been looking at joining an eishin ryu school here in Australia and I hope they fully use correct etiquette and deliver instruction the way its meant to be. Only time will tell!
@@TashaTulipJoeMama my pleasure Michael! We appreciate any support. Traditional arts everywhere are always struggling. I wish you the best of luck in your training. If it doesn't work out, we do have a distance program if you are ever interested. Tom Www.ribudo.blog.

I've been doing martial arts with weapons for 15 years. While this video my be subtle, it's likely some of the best advice I've picked up on.
Thanks very much.

Muscle Tension is slow, when muscles are relaxed you are faster. Simple natural laws.
Thanks for reaching out.
Interesting. So basically, by pressure, you mean an aggressive, forward-leaning, forward moving posture, at all times?
If thats where Tekki is, then yes.

Most appreciated, there are only 2 Iaido schools in south Australia and only 1 is eishin ryu. Thanks again
