You all seen the 2 new male van den bulck pigeons we have brought into our loft! now we have 8 more of them which are all the young from these 2 males! im hoping to break them in as they have not been out much at the other loft due to work commitments! but we may set them down on some eggs before we try fly them!
The 8 offspring are a cross of houben & gaby with the 2 pure van den bulck pigeons!

I think the tiger grizzel's will lay eggs again before you take back, try to foster they eggs intro your birds.. so when they leave you will have another 2 eggs from them.. under one of your breeding pairs

Man I cnt wait for another loft building video. Looking forward to your next expansion on your lofts. I was also having a problem with losing babies to hawks. I recently added a large aviary for the young birds. Seems to be helping train the babies up and get them more street smart.

With so many pigeons missing after each toss, wise idea to invest in 8 + 2 birds for now. To teach them of the topography you need to put a cage on the roof with the new birds for atleast 3 - 4 weeks to learn the area well & map the boundaries.....
we will take it slow with these ones, maybe train them with the new team we will breed and no rush this time take it nice and slow. but i think many reds in this years flock

Thanks Kurt, they look beautiful, would like their pedigree and then you can decide which way you want to crossbreed. Even breed the youngsters aswell.
thanks only ped for the 2 fathers to these 8, but few the youngsters might be worth it also as they are crossed with some decent houben and also imported gaby hens!

You've got some very interesting pigeons there. Titan's daughter, the blue hen can go with the blue pied cock. One of the red checkered cock can go with shock's daughter. The silver mealy cock can go with one of storm's daughter. Even the red bar hen can go with the silver mealy too! That's my take.

I love pieds for sure. I was given this advice once by a champion racer. Not to say there is anything wrong with purchasing stock pigeons as we must, however he says... go to the top 3 fanciers or so and buy a set of 10 birds each from their best you can afford or as an investment so that gives you around 30 top youngers or so and race them ... from there select your stock birds. That's one really really good bit of advice I got. Many people buy stock birds that have not proven anything and hold onto them for years because of the bloodline and many many of them end up being mediocre. No one will sell you their stock birds that are breeding winners for them. You might find such a fancier but who will sell their winning line of stock birds. They will sell you a baby off that young bird that mostly have not raced consistently in the top 5 or 10 in the union or club ... anyways just sharing my experience in this bit of advice I was given and which works well for many.

@@ManeyPigeons surely success will come with good management ... hope you hold off on that loft of yours as there is no rush and just save and build a good one that can last many years to come. If you like I can share some pics of my lofts and some here in South Africa as we have similar weather to Australia. Belgium style lofts are fantastic however the only possible might be that it is a bit to closed on the front however if the ventilation is correct the wins will come

Thanks Kevin, im keen to try the 2 pure VDB i have into my heremans, all the 8 ybs are crossed with houbens or gabys so we will see if that puts some changes in the mix!

Yes I live in Virginia in the US I have 10 second generation Belgian pigeons all have won 250 and 500 MI races I don't know if you can accept them to Australia but if you can I'll give them to you

You've got too many options now haha.. get a note book out, draw up a plan and stick with it. Clear out any dead wood too.
na not at all, all the new ones are related to the 2 VDB cocks. but they are all leo heremans somewhere on the line so hopefully we can break them in and race as older birds next year and one of them becomes a stand out ahahah but we will see if i have any luck aha

Nice flock, I have a golden pigeon living behind my lounge with two eggs in it's nest, I try not to scare the pigeon when I walk past, do you have any tips on how I can assist it with raising it's young and maybe welcoming it so it doesn't feel scared when I walk past it?
just cover the part of the cage where the pigeon cant see you make sure the air inside the cage is well ventilated

Maney why you are not keeping male and female in different loft? Many fanciers keep their male and female birds in different loft or partition. How much it need for racing pigeons? Is it effects their fly? I want to know can you please explain? Thank you 😊
i have not the setup yet for that, many reason motivates the cocks and also gives hens a break from being chased all the time saves energy and less stress

You need to home the new ones before u fly them i used to pull like five fathers on each side so they can't fly then let them out 1 day and couch them back in tell they come in alone

,hey mate .why don't you build nest boxes underneath those others you have ..your choice but I don't like the fronts of those nest boxes you have in your stock loft .when you get time should change the fronts but all good
yeah i dont really like them any more either, to small and hard to clean. this will be the last season im using them need a proper sized breeding loft!
