👀
That's tomorrow 👀
I like the enthusiasm. You are definitely almost there. Keep it up!
Trying my best🙏🏼
You got this man its all on the grip
BRO IVE BEEN WAITING FR A VID, FINALLY
Yessir!!
your approach is good you will be dunking soon
Riq b is an INSPIRATION for the short kings
Ayeeee
Hey Riq I enjoy watching your vids and vertical jump progress. You made a vid on depth jumps and stunting growth. Do you think 30lb jump squats can stunt growth, you said to not do weighted jumps until you were older.
Good luck man, also how old are you?
Yo whats up! Great video again. One question how many times a week do you train legs to increase your bounce?
Love your videos. 🙏 Really helpful to create better athletes in general. How long should a workout take and do I want to feel sore the following days to know I did good? What’s your opinion on French contrast or complex/contrast training in general? Also how do you train upper body? Sorry for the flurry of questions 😅. Am trying to and so close to reaching a 38 inch vertical. Once again love your videos ❤. Can’t wait to see you dunk!!
If you can it would be much appreciated if you could reply/answer the many 😂questions I listed. Thanks once again. Keep doing what your doing ❤
Dude you for sure will get it. Thoughts on playing a game and looking for a tip slam? Feel like the adrenaline boost of competition would give you the extra lift. See the rebound before everyone, fly in off the wing, put it back in. When they call goal tending, tell them to kick rocks.
Maybe it'll help haha. Im not playing a lot of ball rn tho
Check out the DSG basketballs. Those have nice grip and you can probably handle it way easier in the air.
Fam, you mentioned a deload week in one of your shorts, that means to take it easy on one week and go heavy on the next week?
you gonna get it to dunk consistenly keep it up G! i just turned 14 years old im around 5,9 with a 30 inch max vert and im trying to dunk your my inspiration! is it enough to just train plyos with and without weight and like do squats, claf raises, rdl´s bulgarian split squts or should i go to the gym in my age?
I appreciate you my guy. As long as you train properly with weight and you don't progress too fast, then training at your age will get your bounce crazy. Plyos and max jumping will also be amazing
@@RiqB thx for the advice apprciate it!
I too, share the same journey! Where I came from, not many people could dunk, even if they can, they are always over 6 ft with bad jumping forms and their dunks have no power at all. That's why as someone who's 5'7~5'8 from that culture, I set out to prove that with maximum effort and the right training, anyone can dunk or at least increase their vertical and become so much more athletic, despite their height. If I can pull this off, others can, too! And it would start a revolution to this industry in my home country.
Same here man, lets prove it!
Extremely Motivational
Appreciate you man
Yo have you every ran a 100m I feel like you would be low 11s or high 10s. I am curious to see what a 40 inch vert means in speed
Yooo I’m early, and I’m 5’6 with a 34-37 inch vert maybe higher I can hang onto rim with 2 hands almost dunking off lob too I been following your account for a while now it helps a lot, but also I have a question do you train your shoulders because that’s what helped me increase like 3-4 inches because your shoulders help with arm swing, and I have been focusing on my core a whole bunch being lean as possible for force production, but the question is do you train your shoulders as well, and your back, also hip flexors?
I doubt it was shoulder training that increased your vertical but rather a combination of other things. It's just how good you are at bringing your arms back in an arm swing. But I do train shoulders in a hypertrophy type way
@@RiqB that’s also true, and that’s good thanks for replying
That's so epic 🎉
@@Shinjin. Thankyou
you got potential bro
keep it up!
I'm 5'7" currently can reach 10'7" I'm also training under Justin Melton plyometrics program and it's been great
Damn how?
Hey bro not tryna tell you your business or anything but have you considered trying to dunk the ball off the glass? Like throwing it off the backboard so it meets your hand as you reach the rim. I’ve seen small dunkers before use this method to get dunks in and was wondering if you had tried it. Anyway bro keep up the good work you fr getting that dunk soon 🔥the grind gon pay off soon 💯
How do u time dat tho the ball is already gone when u get up there
I've thought about it but I know its considerably harder. The timing and the speed of the ball bouncing back to me would be pretty hard to get used to haha
@RiqB I caught it before but it was bad form u dont have time to do your penultimate just jump straightforard off the balls of your feet as soon as you throw it.
Can you do a video on how you warm up before a dunk session ?
Will do
yay@@RiqB
I’m on a similar cycle for THP, been struck trying to get 9’ 8” for about a month.
Good luck with it bro! We'll get it soon
Hi Riq, I want to try following ur vert training program as of rn but you did mention that I shouldn’t overtrain, As a volleyball player doing volleyball and ur vert training may lead to knee pain and further injuries so what split would you suggest for me that includes ur program and leg days
I don't have a program myself but if you're playing volleyball, I would do volleyball 1-2 times per week and 1 leg day per week to start out. You can build up to more later on or if you feel like you can handle more, then go for it
You're genuinely so close to dunking, have you tried palming exercises so you have better grip on the ball? Maybe that's why you tend to hit the backrim a lot. I don't know, keep up the good work
ik this an old vid but the fact youve dunked at all at 5’6.5 is insane, lob or not. Youre in the end stages now man, only an inch or two from consistent dunks
I genuinely appreciate that man thank you!
Jumping high bro, your going to be dunking soon. I have a question bout leg extension iso. It seems that I’m doing them incorrectly because my knees still have pain. I’m doing them with my knees fully extended is that correct?
Not fully extended. Keep them at a slight bend. If you still feel more pain then you went too heavy and if you still feel pain then you didn't go heavy enough. There's a sweet spot that you gotta find
@@RiqB ok thanks
And is there a certain weight I need to work up to or just find a weight where these is no pain?
@@RiqBI also messaged you on instagram.
Just curious, what's your standing reach at 5'7?
7'1 or 7'2
You keep mentioning THP, what is that? Also thank you for your content it’s inspirational.
Its a vertical jump program by Isaiah Rivera and John Evans. Also, I appreciate the support!
Do you do the jump sessions a day after a leg workout?
I do a jump session usually a day after a light workout day or after a rest day
im not on thp so i dont know how they program, but doesnt 4x a week seem like a lot? I don't think my body would be able to handle that, assuming it's max intent jumps/lifts. I know elite athletes have a similar regimen, but what about for someone who isnt at the level yet? did you start out with less volume? after you got healthy that is, bc obviously it would be less when your injured
I build up to this volume and they programmed it so it would 2 hard days, active recovery day, 2 hard days, which gave me some rest in between. For sure still challenging and hard but thats how you improve.
would you say that from training like this, your overall athleticism improved?
yes
By the way, you are INSANE, I dont if you can dunk right now or you cant, the fact is that you've dunked the ball at 5'7.
5'7. I'm taller than you and I cant dunk.
Like bro.
I appreciate you bro! I'm trying to get it more consistently
I appreciate you bro! I'm trying to get it more consistently
I think you gonna get it easily eventually but if youre fatigued you gotta take a step back before injuring yourself again
For sure! I've been extremely mindful of how my knees are feeling now
bro i think when you drop the ball (for alleyhoop dunk) tha ball need more bumping
When you throw the ball in the air it doesn't rise high enough So you have to hold the ball in air and dunk it while you climb If the ball bounces up from the hoop you can catch it in it(sory for my english i am from turkey and my english is so bad ı used translater) By the way, I also have a channel and i am dunking
Isaiah said in a thp podcast that a 1RM back squat with 300 lbs is not considered strong enough to really peak your vertical. On the other hand, 300lbs is still very strong for a back squat PR.
TLDR: Get even stronger and stick to the program
Edit: Your dunk journey is insane, stay on the grind
Its mostly relative to your bodyweight. thats just over 2x my bodyweight which is pretty good. I definitely could still improve on this
@@RiqByeah exactly, if you can squat 2x your bodyweight thats fucking good for your vertical.
Have you tried training your grip strength?
how do you train that?
@@dondahighhh12 Pull ups are one way
THP?
Do you ever just palm the ball and dunk it? Or dribble up and then dunk? You clearly have enough bounce to do it. Or just hit it with two hands. You have the verty! Routing for you, bro!
Who remembers when he had short hair?
If you remember that, then you're one of the OGs😭
dude your legs are looking beefy with the squats at the start
LOL appreciate you man
Dunking isn't a silly or simple goal I think dunkers make up 0.00004% of the world it is something worth the grief
I appreciate that bro! Yeah for sure. A lot of people look at dunking as just a sub genre of basketball (which it technically is) but dunking itself is pretty cool
You can probably already dunk, just work on grip strength
So you never have dunked before?
I've dunked before my injury but I'm tryna get my first dunk after my injury + first self lob dunk
buy yourself a Jordan 36 or Anta wave 5
first
Real one
@@RiqB yo no way i wanna dunk tooooo!
