What a sad sight to see I used to live in Shreveport briefly back in 2006 this place has so much potential. It could be like a mini Dallas if the city had better leadership but unfortunately Louisiana politics truly sucks what a shame.

I agree, I think Louisiana is the most racist & corrupt state in the country. What they’ve done to New Orleans is a travesty also.

@@lastshallbefirst5516 Yes! This right here I was born and raised in New Orleans and you are correct it's like a third world cesspit and after Katrina it's gotten worse. I don't even think it's worth it to move back.

@@kellyvariste4831 My first time visiting N.O. was in 2017, Bayou Classic. I was amazed by the people & culture…and I left feeling that if America cared, New Orleans would be the greatest city in the country, easy. It’s a shame what they did along the Mississippi River: St. Louis, Memphis, New Orleans. Exploited the people and left, then blamed them for all the despair…but yet don’t mind coming back to collect the tourism money that is mostly generated by the cultures of those cities

@@lastshallbefirst5516 You've totally encapsulated this so eloquently. Yes and it's a shame what they've been able to get away with for so long. The reason why Louisiana in general is the way it is because corrupt politicians and corporations have rape the hell out our state. Louisiana has no business being the way it is when you consider that the state is so rich with natural resources so rich in fact New Orleans alone would be like Dubai on steroids and every man woman and child would be rich, but they're so corrupt and evil they'll rather see there own people suffer unnecessarily.

I left Shreveport in February of '89, and the population was 240,000 people in 1995 when I returned to open the restaurant it was still $240,000 people. Now after this last mayoral election we learned during the campaign but that's report has 130,000 residents, that's almost half of the residence abandoning ship which is understandable. When you venture out the states like Georgia for Atlanta and Texas for Dallas Houston, California cities. You find out that your technical skills are more valued, then you've been laid to believe. Example a relative working for a hospital lab $10 an hour ever since she graduated from high school. After being hired in a hospital lab in Dallas her pay went from $10 an hour to 15, and when they found out all the different machines she knew how to operate it went to 21 dollars an hour, just by leaving Shreveport you can increase your pay by 1/4, or 1/3. This usually occurs with national companies, not home grown mom and pop companies that hire their own relatives. I've worked on security for 29 years. The best I was offered for armed security work or $7 an hour, and she said for me she would push it to $7.50. that's a long way from $9 when I started in Dallas, to return home at 7:50 when the going rate for me was $15 an hour at the Federal courthouse.. she explained apologetically that that's just what they're paying here. Once again it was abandoned ship stay where you are. This place was a nice place to raise children, but it's always been a nightmare when it comes to making a living.

Like my buddy was a navy seabee 25 years. To come back to shreveport his 54$ an hour skills only pay about 16$ an hour.

Shreveport population has never reached 240,000... and its no less than 190+ thousand right now. And the mind state of a person, will always determine there financial situation. There are a lot of people who have moved away. Only to return because the cost of living couldn't sustain the $15-$20 an hour. If you can't thrive off of $10-$15 in a low cost state such as Louisiana, then you cannot make it anywhere else.

@@richrolla15 Well said. I lived in Dallas where I was paid $23 an hr. Moved back to Shreveport $21 an hour but less expensive to live here. I now save a lot on the cost of living.
