    Omg the spark plug worked itself out on my truck I drove it for monthes thinking it was finally going to die. Bought new plugs and it came back to life. If only every fix was that easy

    This was the same thing i was experiencing with my 2005 Chevy Silverado. I just hadn't tightened the spark plug down enough. You could see it vibrating while the others were sitting still. Thanks for the video. It gave me a starting point that turned out to be the solution.

    I'm done mechanic work for years I always put anti-seize on my plug before putting them in the cylinder head also an old trick I used to do is I would take a piece of hose and I would put it on the top part on the tip put it on the spark plug and then put the spark plug in the hole and hand twist a spark plugs to get it started then I would pull the piece of small hose off of the spark plug I hope this information helps anyone trying to get spark plugs back into their vehicle

    Thanks for the video. My 99 Toyota Tacoma 3.4L was ticking pretty bad. Thought I had it narrowed down to the flexplate or lifters. I was going to get someone more e$perienced take a look at my truck and then I watched your video. I checked my plugs and sure enough, I had a loose one. No more engine ticking. Thanks again.

    Got a 04 Mazda 6 2.3l, was having serious brake light, cruise control, transmission, and turn signal issues. I'd recently had the ECU reflashed because of a short when the crankshaft sensor cable fell into the alternator, so it was possible the unit was bad, around a $1k minimum repair. Turned out to just be a wire shorting out between the turn signals which fed power into the brakes - the shrink seal housing had been peeled off and it was touching the chassis. I respliced it, resealed it, and taped over that for good measure, and there's no more problems. Did take around $10 in fuses to isolate, though, but way better than $1k+.

    also I forgot to mention put on anti seize on the threads of your spark plug you can use a piece of hose and put that piece of hose on the head of the spark plug then all you have to do is turn the hose and you can start the spark plug in the holes by hand this way you do not accidentally cross thread a spark plug this little small trick. I've learned many years ago I'm a retired auto mechanic really works good I've installed thousands of spark plugs in vehicles using this method a piece of Hose big enough 2 slide on the electrode where you put on the spark plug wire just put a piece of hose on it and you will be able to turn the house and you can put the spark plugs in by hand once the spark plugs are in Far Enough you can pull off the hose easily I hope this information helps anyone out there putting in spark plugs

Thought it was something simple like thermostat or minor fix similar to the point I'm at now which is redoing full gasket replacement to find out the owners previous didn't follow the handy instructions on timing belt cover to use double prong not single prong spark plug.... This for me is not a loss buy a gain more knowledge for being 1st car I've personally worked on with out more experienced mechanics

    Hi autodometer.i have a mustang 2007 v6 the problem I have with my car sometimes it's doesn't want to start but it cranks that happens when it's cold in the mornings only.what the car could have? I change the fuel pump and the fuel filter...and the fuel pressure sencor.and I put a new battery

    • @AutOdometer
      @AutOdometer  5 лет назад +1

      I would first not just throw parts at it. If it happens when it’s cold then the battery would be first to check. Since you replaced the battery I would start with some other electrical components. Maybe the alternator... you can always remove your alternator and have it checked at OReillys or Autozone. I’d try that before spending money on things that aren’t needed.
      Next you could also check the fuel pressure regulator if you think it’s fuel related.

    spark plugs for my Corolla (platinum NGK) were $30. That is CHEAP.... keep good plugs in the car all the time.... it's the obvious thing and easy to address.

    It's aluminum head. You forgot to put your anti seize. Or you did and you didn't mention it

      Well I thought anti seize messes up the torque spec or so I have read

      I’ve worked for Toyota (Lexus) for 10 years. In all of my factory training we were never, ever taught to add anti-seize to spark plug threads. As long as the head and plug are clean, just torque and go. Also, I’ve NEVER seen a plug loosen itself (when torqued), blow out of the heads, or pull the threads when removed. It’s not a ford...

    Seems like U accidentally fixed the knocking problem. Anyways should note knocking is related to these two things 1) Knock sensor 2) Throttle body. U somehow managed to fix the problem by re-installing throttle body which must be loose or wrongly fit in its place
