He did his best to make sense of everything and to tell us some of the most amazing stories ever. There will never be another journalist like Peter Jennings. Ever.
Rest in Peace, Peter. We still miss you.

I was five years old when Mr. Jennings died. However, every night for those five years, my mom would turn on the tv and watch ABC World News. It was impressed upon me in my childhood that I should know about world events. Mr. Jennings, in the early part of that childhood, was the one delivering those world events. Though I was young, I will never forget him.
To see him ring in the year I was born, knowing my mom was watching…indescribable.

They don't make anchors or reporters like that anymore.

  • @MattLeger

Just as Walter Cronkite *was* CBS News and John Chancellor NBC News, Peter Jennings *was* ABC News. Each of those organizations had a whole roster of distinguished journalists, but nobody else embodied his news operation and its style, principles and prestige the way each of these three men did. They were remnants of the era when people actually trusted network news coverage and personnel to tell them the facts, unvarnished and complete. There's no one like them today...and I fear there never will be again, network news having become what it has since their day, i.e., driven primarily by ratings, clicks and profit rather than news and ethics. Our nation and democracy have suffered because of it, and we badly need newsmen and -women like Peter, Barbara Walters, Hugh Downs and company more than ever.

Shortly after stating that the towers seemed to come down in
A fanishable way, controlled demolition. He was the first to state
That on mainstream midia. I guess his real outlook as a true journalist really came out.
