Ha ha was some of the best river food I’ve ever tasted, Topcat takes good care of us out there that’s for sure! Word round camp is Slim thinking bout goin out west Californi way for a vacation one day.. Might get to try some of chef Todd’s river creations while he’s out here!

I just stumbled on to your channel so I thought I would subscribe so I can take a look at your other videos. I use to do a lot of prospecting similar to how you guys are doing it in this video. But I moved to Michigan and haven’t done anything in years. But moving back to California in 2020 to the Fresno/Clovis area so I will be back prospecting up hwy 49.....I CAN NOT WAIT!! Jerry aka "Prospector Jerry" had some serious national competition this year from Gary aka "Two Toes"; Todd aka Top Cat; Jeff Williams "So. C'mon. Let's Go!" and Adam and Petey aka "California Gold Rush." There are also some worthy international contenders like Chris aka "Vo-Gus" and Pioneer Pauly. However, I vote for this one for this year's "Golden Nugget" award based on its content, production values, scenery and overall spirit of adventure and camaraderie. SWEEEET California Gold.!! While rafting on the American River I found lots of nuggets after a huge snow melt in the 1980s. The Yuba looks beautiful and very rich..!! You folks ever try the east side of the Sierras??

You know living in California and prospecting for gold, you would think that the gold would be bigger. What did the old miners do differently than you guys. Do you only find gold in rivers and streams or can you find gold up away from the river.

Tooo much water going thru that river sluice. You need Clarkson Riffles with that powerful of waterflow.
jay its a fluid trap sluice, it doesn't work like a conventional sluice. It has trap at the end and uses the water pressure to fuidize the trap. Google grizzly gold trap and you will see more.

Its a few different rivers the American and Yuba in this video.
I live about 15 to 20 minutes south of Lytle Creek. Herd of it? Have you prospected there before. The gold mines map show over a dozen gold mines in the area. I haven't tried it out yet but am interested.
It doesn't ring a bell but if there were gold mines nearby and it on the motherlode side of california especially there probably gold in it. only one way to find out!

Your skewers will come out even better if you cook the meat and veggies on different skewers because they have different cooking times to come out their best.

I don't know why you use the EZ Sluice I used it one time and when I got home I hit eBay and got a new one, that wasn't an EZ sluice. The best flour gold and everything on up I ever used was a wooden sluice I made with flat expanded steel I took a screwdriver and bent up the slots random. I gave it to a guy who was at the river panning in the sand bar with a old iron pan. I said let me see your pan. I swirled it a few times and said nothing is in it. The sand is too soft, come with me let me show you were to look. After I showed him how to use it, areas to prospect and how to pan, I said "well, I will see you later go ahead and keep my sluice I got a few more". I left. Some things don't belong to you even if you make it for yourself.
I love the EZ sluice mostly because of how light weight it is :D

I have a question, why is it I never see anyone use a hoist to pull large rocks okay from the area they are searching.
I actually will be doing some more of this soon, it all depends on where we are as the terrain really determines what we can bring.

I've seen some places backpacking at high altitudes that are sure to have tons of gold. But how can you pack in equipment when it's hard enough with high tech lightweight gear just to survive?
When you find the answer let me know lol.. That is one of the biggest factors with doing this, the further away you get usually the better the gold is, but you would be surprised what is found right near the road also.
